I received the 12-22 email and was invited for an interview yesterday (1-22). I'm not sure if that means you're out of luck, but I wish you the best!

I'm pretty sure they're just behind and will still let us know either way pretty soon. If all they had were rejections left, I think they would have easily sent those by now.
Anybody want to call and ask what the status is? I'm afraid I've used up my free calls to admissions quota.

thx a lot... but that is very strange considering yesterday was a sunday...

i just called, but nobody answered. How many calls do we get?

haha...I'm not sure there's an actual number...I've just called a lot lately...I don't want to annoy Erin (reception) by calling too much personally. 🙂

Definitely odd, though I received a rejection from Boston on a Sunday about 11 AM. I think now that the process is electronic, we can get the emails just about whenever the director has time to pull out the old iPad and check the box.

I got the 12/22 email as well (filled out and submitted the II in early October) but have not received an answer either way as to an interview invite or a rejection. The further we get from Jan 20th like they said, they more stressed I get. Are thy really THAT behind?

When I signed up for my interview yesterday there were 4 spots for 01/30, 11 spots for 02/06 and 20 spots for 02/13. I have no idea how many invites went out yesterday.

Are you from the Mesa/Lehi area?

Anyone talk to the admissions office today about when the invites will all be out?

I called admissions this morning and asked about the invites. They said they "should" be out by the end of this week. We'll see if it actually happens...

Update: Email received from PHX. 5 spots open for Feb 6 and 15 spots open for Feb 13. Good luck to everyone!

Did you call admissions to ask them the # of spots left or did you get an II today?

I received an invite a couple weeks ago but did not want to choose a date til today. There is 1 spot left for the 6th and 13 for the 13th.

Received my official rejection just now. 🙁

Thank you for your interest in The University of Arizona College of Medicine-Phoenix for the entering class of 2012. After careful review of your AMCAS and Secondary Application, the COM-Phoenix Admissions Committee has determined to move forward in our selection process without further consideration of your application.

Although months away, I do invite you to review our season's results and learn more about the composition of our entering class. Perhaps you will find something helpful in this information should you choose to reapply to the UA College of Medicine-Phoenix in the future. This information will be posted at www.medicine.arizona.edu/phoenix later in the spring semester.

I sincerely appreciate your interest in our medical program and do wish you the best in your pursuit of becoming a physician.

Sincerely,

Tara K Cunningham, MS

+1. Makes me sad. Second pre-interview rejection today. Oh well at least I have other options at this point

Send some of the "other options" mojo my way please....I'm still coming up dry. 13 rejections, 14 schools outstanding. No interviews.

Me too - same everything. 2 pre-interview rejections in one day. Now I'm down to 2 schools - one out of state (not hopeful - no word since September - no interview), and one in state (interviewed late October, no word yet).

Good luck to everyone else. . .

come on now, none of that frowny stuff! You have an incredible opportunity awaiting you, go and discover some amazing stuff ! 🙂 Then come back a few years later, having traveled around the world, with so many stories to tell, and blow their minds away 🙂

Got the reject letter too....I officially favor the Tucson campus now!

I think the e-mail is somewhat mean to ask an applicant to look at other people stats that were accepted when they should just give individual feedback on what the applicant can do to improve their application if they decide to reapply; especially, since most applicants even filling out at a secondary application put a lot of effort into it. Ultimately they should extend the professional courtesy to send a personal rejection letter than some generic one.

I somewhat agree, but this and most other schools receive THOUSANDS of applications - do you think it is realistic to send personalized rejection notices? No. Offering feedback is also impossible to someone whom they never met face-to-face. Take a look at the stat's and self-compare. That's humane. It's no different than the MSAR. If you're local, attend the workshops they host over the summer. Visit with your premed advisor for the personalized feedback you desire.

I've received 2 of these messages and at least UA Phoenix is courteous to keep you updated.

Now, if you are interviewed, then I believe you deserve a different letter than a mass note. We're all filled with emotion and being told "no" never feels good - pre-interview, post-interview, with one sentence or a novel. NO hurts. We have feelings, too.

I have to wait until March 2 for this type of news - uh, grueling!! On the bright side, you have been given the final decision in advance and now have closure.

Pre-interview?

Yeah, you win some and lose some (well a lot haha) I guess....no hard feelings; all these schools are so competitive these days. No whining from me.

Ohcomeon. I'm at least allowed to mope for a little while at being rejected from my top choice.

At least until tomorrow- that's when the faculty meeting for said incredible opportunity is. How would you define "hear from us shortly"? I MUST KNOW NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not that I'm obsessing.

By the way, congratulations to everybody that recently got interviews! I'm sure you'll do great!

Just got rejected pre-interview 🙁 OOS completed 12-08. Blessings on the rest of you still waiting!!

The University of Washington tells you in their email how you can improve. It's very professional, and well written. So yes, it is possible for a school to do that, and UA Phoenix as well as any med school should do the same if they want dedicated re-applicants. I got rejected from UW and am impressed by how they rejected me. Would I have needed to reapply next year, I would have, but I don't need to.

I got rejected from UA Phoenix today as well. I'm baffled.... I have excellent stats, and I have gotten a lot more rejections than I had anticipated.... 😕
I wonder what med schools really look at......

Hey Everyone,
Just wanted to know if people had received anything since the last batch on Tuesday? I called the office Wed and they said they would send out all the notices by today, but still haven't received either an II or rejection, expecting a rejection at this point. Hopeing that I haven't somehow slipped thru the cracks.

Quick question guys: does anybody know if Phoenix will pay for the plane ticket for revisit day?

Highly doubt it. Do schools actually do this? For what it's worth, they didn't offer anything when I planned my revisit, and I live pretty far away. Although I certainly wouldn't expect them to to begin with.

Is revisit different than the traditional second look event? Has anyone been to a revisit and if so, what was it all about?

Sorry I was actually asking whether they cover flight costs for Second Look that was have coming up.

I emailed to ask about this and from what I understand, the revisit involves spending the day one-on-one with a student, including attending a class. Second Look Weekend involves planned group activities: meeting with faculty/staff/students, tours of various facilities, etc. Anyone who's already attended a revisit please chime in... Since I'm super excited about this school and the two events are sufficiently different from each other, I will be going to both!
