Anybody know anything about this 2-day long "Diversity Interview Day"?

Yeah I just got an interview invite to the Diversity Interview Program as well. I'm excited but I can't find any information on the website about it.

I received the same email too. I'm going.

I'll be going too! I'm pretty excited about Cincinnati. I just visited recently and it seems like a really good atmosphere! :luck:

If I remember correctly from my application the ADCOM goes over applications two days a week. Sometimes they get behind and your application will be delayed in its processing by a week or two.

Just saw my acceptance on the application status page!!! I've been checking all day too, got it at 3 pm eastern!

Haha I've been waiting for an email so thanks for this post 😛 got in too!! Good luck everybody

Haven't been at my computer all day... just saw the acceptance--what an amazing surprise!!!! 😀

Wow did everyone get accepted except me?!!

I got alternate listed. I guess I have to wait a long time now.

Accepted! So thrilled to get into this school 🙂🙂

Anyone instate or even OOS app with sub 30 MCATs getting interviews? (29) I know I'm below their average, but I feel like they must be showing some love to <30s if their MCAT class average is only a 31ish. Everyone I know who goes there has a 34+

just received an interview invite! first one! 🙂

for the conformation page, anyone know what to put for the work activities? it says not to put anything listed on the amcas application, but i listed all my work there...should i just leave it blank??
thanks@!!

How does this UCinn feel about "in the area" e-mails? I just got an interview invite from Ohio State for December, and am seriously considering sending UCinn an in the area e-mail since I am an OOSer and my funds are very low at the moment.

:luck:

I think I recommended that someone send one in earlier and it worked. Could've been another thread, but it's definitely worth a shot; they sometimes work.

The post-interview "tertiary" is mainly because the MMI doesn't give you a chance to discuss or highlight things like recent work experience like a standard interview would. I wouldn't be too stressed about what you put.

When were you complete?

That was me, and yes, it worked. I emailed Cinci as soon as Ohio invited me for an interview. Two days later they replied with an invitation. From what I've heard, it doesn't usually work, but I would highly highly recommend giving it a shot.

Thanks Deutsch Arzt and premed67783. Do you mind if I pm you guys the letter? I just want to make sure I don't sound pushy or entitled in my e-mail.

Try something like this:

Hello,

I am an applicant from *insert your location*, and I will be in the state of Ohio during the week of *insert date*. Is it possible to find out if a decision has been reached regarding an invitation to interview, and if so, could it be scheduled during that week?

Thank you,
*insert name*

Perfect. Thanks so much. 😀 :luck:

Interviewing here on Tuesday. Anyone know what can I expect traffic to be like on Tues morning 8:30? My hotel is about 8 miles away, definitely want to make sure I give myself plenty of time to find the garage and get mentally prepped! Thanks guys!

Received interview invite on Oct 13th. OOS.

For those that will be interviewing at Cincy....in my opinion, the best preparation for the MMI is simply remaining calm and eliminating those stress jitters than can clog your thinking. No prior intensive studying of healthcare ethics or policies would have helped me in the various interview situations. Following your gut instinct when confronted with a scenario to consider, sticking to your guns, and thinking clearly is the only advice one needs. Don't worry, it's not that bad, and the interviewers are humans, not robots. They're even capable of smiling and small talk! Thank god for that. The MMI might have been, dare I say, intellectually stimulating and enjoyable.

I think it helps to have a basic knowledge of the health care system and ethics so you can feel more comfortable/confident discussing some of the scenarios but definitely not necessary. It seemed as if the main things they were looking for was whether you can have a logical conversation and analyze an issue from multilple perspectives before making a conclusion. What's nice is that the interviewers guide you through the scenarios and it ends up feeling like you're having a cordial conversation with a colleague.

Can anyone tell me how accessible Dayton's airport is to the school? The cheapest plane tickets seem to be out of the airport in Dayton, Ohio.

I am very excited for this interview! It appears they have a high acceptance rate for interviewed out of state students.

Thanks for the help!

Dayton airport is about an hour, hour fifteen drive from UC in no traffic. Straight down 75, which has a lot of construction now, though. I'd give plenty of time for delays.

+1 except 28

Is it excessively pushy to add that I will be in Ohio for the second time when writing an "in the area" email? Is it possible that I'll get some sympathy or is it just obnoxious? Looking at my limited plane ticket funds, I cringe thinking about flying to Ohio from WA three or possibly four times....

Agreed. If one doesn't already have a "basic" understanding of the health care system and the relevant ethical questions involved with it, what is that person doing applying to medical school in the first place?? Haha. The basics are all that you need essentially. The rest is confidence in your ability to articulate ideas clearly. I'm now starting to think most schools should implement something like the MMI, at the very least, in their interview process. Their pre-interview explanation of the utility of the MMI seemed legit.

I just sent them an "in the area" e-mail. I think it's worth it, but if you want to wait, I will post their response once I receive it so you know how receptive they are to such requests. It seems to have worked at least once before. :luck:

Complete in late August and still haven't heard back. I'm OSS but have solid stats for this school, so is this timeline normal for Cincinnati? Other med schools?

The waiting continues

Received an interview invitation.

OOS
3.6 GPA
high MCAT
Submitted Secondary: Sept 28 (not sure when I was complete)
Received invitation: Nov 4

Interview invite for Dec 9th. Complete on Oct 10th =)

SO PSYCHED!

in the interview-secondary they ask ask for work experiences or other time commitments and then say " Do not include work or other activities stated on your AMCAS application."

so that means if we listed something on AMCAS, we should not list it here?</SPAN>

That's what I did. The only thing I repeated from my amcas was research because they had a separate box for that. I just added some updates about my project and reiterated the goals of our lab.

Just got an II for Dec. 16th. :soexcited:So it seems "in the area" e-mails work. 🙂
:luck:

I was just placed on the alternate list. Interviewed 11/1.

Does anyone know how Cincinnati handles the alternate list?
