I'd say it was one of my more intense interviews. There was also much that was good about it.

I appear to have been bitten by the wanting-what-you-probably-can't-have bug, though. Does anyone know if the U of M accepts file updates or letters of intent after the interview?

Dean White has explicitly told us that he doesn't, nor anybody else, looks at post-secondary submission updates. Sorry mate!

I've looked through all the stuff I've been given from the U (TC), and I can't find anywhere if there's another rendezvous/visit day for accepted students this fall. Anyone know?

I have no clue, but I would certainly love it if there was one.

Any recent interview invites?

How late into the year do they still send out interview invites? They have interview days through February right?

I think they interview all the way through the end of March.

I was told by a current student that there is a day for admitted students to go back to campus in the spring. He told me that there is a second packet of information that is sent out in January with details. Hopefully that packet comes soon.

For you admitted students, has anybody set up a facebook group yet?

has anyone who interviewed in mid-november received any news? i interviewed the 18th, but haven't heard anything yet.

Got the call from Dean White today! IS, meh GPA, solid MCAT, no research but lots of community service/teaching experience, interviewed all the way back in October for anyone who's interested. Best of luck to those still waiting!

anyone know if there is anything you can do to help get yourself off the waitlist other than waiting? i know they don't accept like anything after you interview...

Thanks for the info. 👍 I have been wondering if there is a second look sometime. I am choosing between multiple schools and could probably use another day at up at the U.

I have also been wondering if there is a facebook group yet or not. I do not believe there is. If I get enough free time, I might create one in the future.

I am also wondering about a second look. I am leaning towards the U but still haven't made a final decision. The second look event would be great for finding roommates too. I haven't seen a facebook group yet either. I'll definitley join if one is started though.

Hey for all you accepted students, I just set up a Facebook group. University of Minnesota Medical School - Twin Cities Class of 2016. If you know your going to the U next year look it up.

Good luck to everybody still waiting to hear back! I hope your call from Dean White comes soon!

Looking forward to meeting everybody!

Can any current minnesota students just give a brief explanation of how the 3rd and 4th year rotations work? Can you do electives at other hospitals in different cities? Thanks

Thanks for creating a Facebook group! But I searched for it and wasn't able to find it..hmmm 😕

Got the call from Susan at Duluth today! Boy does it feel good! Still a little surreal though.

Gonna post my stats here because I know y'all are gonna be be asking.

IS, 3.77 GPA (3.77 sGPA), 31O MCAT

Interviewed November 7, was starting to get a little worried, but not anymore!

Weirdest part of application, I was accepted to Duluth, but rejected pre-interview to the cities.

See you in the fall?

Sure thing! Duluth has always been my first choice and I loved the school and Duluth itself when I went for an interview.

Funny story:

I stayed there the night before (went up with my parents) and the info packet I had gotten stated that the Edgewater hotel was recommended and gave a discount when people associated with UMD stayed there. So, me and my parents decided going there was a good start. However, when we got there, all the doors to the hotel were locked and we had no idea where the front desk was. My dad noticed the sign of the hotel said the front desk was across the street. So, we thought "weird, but who are we to judge?" We looked across the street and only saw a Wendy's and a Laundromat 😕 So we went to a Holiday Inn and got a really nice suite for a really great deal.

Has any interview invites gone out recently? And if so... do you mind sharing when your application was complete? I am still waiting... and losing hope 🙁

I got an interview invite today and was complete on about December 6.

OOSer with 3.6cgpa and a 28q...still havent sent my secondary...should I bother? thanks!

I stayed at some random hotel on the outskirts of Duluth when I was there. The recommended hotel was just way too expensive.

Got my interview offer! However, I lack one of their pre-med requirements (upper-level humanities course that is writing intensive). I'm an in-state applicant, do you think they'll reject me on the sole basis of not fulfilling that requirement? I feel like barring someone from medical school on that facet seems absurd.

Thoughts?

Call the admissions department. You can probably just take a class over the summer semester that would fulfill the requirement

I don't mean to rain on your parade, but unless you have absolutely outstanding extracurricular's, I wouldn't spend the money. It's pretty late and you're OOS. If you were in state, I certainly would give it a shot. If the money isn't an issue, why not do it? I am talking about if you are applying to U of MN - TC. Duluth is a different story. Best of luck friend.

To be perfectly frank, your chances are pretty slim considering it is pretty late in the stage to submit secondaries. If money is not an issue for you, I would say go for it (stranger things have happened). However realistically speaking it would be very difficult getting a interview offer at this point. Good luck to you on whatever you decide.

This was for the Twin Cities campus. I am residentially an out-of-stater, so I didn't bother applying to Duluth. Quite excited to see the facilities and maybe meet a few others on here as well!

Congrats and thanks for sharing! Was this for the Duluth or TC campus?

Congrats Bartemius! When did you interview in October?

Last week of October. Crazy long wait. Exact dates are listed on my MDApps.
It is a really long wait. I have surpassed the eight week mark (I interviewed at the end of November). Sounds like you heard back in about ten weeks so I am hoping for the same.

Interview invite! (Resident, complete around 10/18)

I was getting so worried--what a relief! They were scheduling for the first couple weeks in March

What has been the average wait time between your secondary being complete and hearing anything about interview invites/rejections? It's been at least two months since my secondary was completed but I haven't heard anything yet. Just wondering if I should expect to hear anything in the near future. It took them a while to get the secondary to me too, so I'm not entirely surprised.

Earlier on (August-September) most people waited about a month to hear back with an interview invite. Not sure on rejection wait-time. Since then it's been pretty variable (anywhere from one month to 3+)

I was complete on 10/28 and got II on 11/10. OOS, non-traditional, 33+ MCAT, 3.75+sGPA

I think that a lot of people are waiting to hear back from Minnesota. hopefully we'll start hearing more soon. Im personally going into week 8 post interview - hoping my phone rings any day now. *fingers crossed*
