First get rid of that insulting Flyers avatar. But seriously, the interview feedback page was pretty helpful. I don't know what else you want to know.

yeah your right.. i guess i'm just hoping there is some sort of miracle advice out there that i'm still looking for.. and you from pittsburgh?

The best advice imo is too not worry because the interview day is very very chill. The questions on the interview feedback are exactly what you'll be asked. For any interview imo they want to see you as a person and what make you unique. You can spin any question into subtly showing why you'll be a great doctor and/or describing some meaningful personal experiences that show you have depth. That seems obvious but at another interview I know that some applicants stumbled in that department when asked questions like (biggest mistake of your life, moral dillema, something you wish you could've done better).

I've lived here almost my whole life and my username...I've kept from when the Penguins future here in Pittsburgh was in doubt....lol, so the Flyers and Jagr can suck it.

I guess i forgot im posting in the pitt thread with the flyers avatar. theres gotta be some other philly fans who got interviews at pitt!

anyone know if decisions start trickling in 11/1 or 11/15? i thought i heard 11/1 on the interview, earlier than last year

...just trying to determine when i should start freaking out/obsessing

Flyers fan over here! I loved Pitt, and I wouldn't mind moving there for med school, but I would have a difficult time with all the Steelers and Pens fans in the city. 😛

(my avatar is not a reflection of the hockey team - I think penguins are adorable!)

Edit: Oh and they told my group that we wouldn't hear back until mid-to-late November, and I interviewed at the end of September.

I interviewed at the beginning of September, and they told us we'd be in the first batch of acceptances around mid-November.

I have a feeling that they ran out of interview slots and that's why everyone got rejected today. When I was there, they said that interviews are ending in December this year and they are cutting down the interviews to about 850 (if I remember correctly).

Sorry to hear about the rejections, but good luck elsewhere! I'm sure you'll all be fine. 🙂

I would say this is not entirely the case. Having recently received an invitation, there were still slots left open between the end of November and throughout December.

Keep your hopes up, folks. It ain't over until it's over.

For the people who've interviewed already, what time did your interview end? I know the day officially ends at 4PM with an optional session but did they really stick with the timing? I want to know if I can take the 28X and still make it to my 6PM flight.

You're fine. BUT if you are going around Thanksgiving or Christmas break you need to watch out for an overfilled bus of undergrads going home.

THIS. It was around move in day when I went, and the ride to campus on the bus was super crowded.

Hmm, personally, I didn't attend the optional session and still missed my 5:30pm bus out of Pittsburgh. (Then again, I spent way too much time hanging out with the med students.) I'd say skip the 28X, as it spends over an hour winding and weaving through all parts of Pittsburgh, and grab a taxi.

II today (!!), complete 10/29... interviewing 11/16.

Anybody else interviewing that day?

For folks still waiting, November was unavailable except for 11/16, but almost every day in December was still available.

When does Pitt start rejecting?

it looks like people have already been rejected pre-interview. I know they start accepting 11/15 so perhaps that's when post-interview rejections will start, but it seems like the majority will get waitlisted.

Yay! Complete since 7/18. No updates or whatsoever. All I got from the office was "Your application is still under review". Yay! Yayay!!

+1. If you are going to be interviewing here around Thanksgiving break, just call a cab to get to the airport. The 28X will be full by the time it gets to the UPMC stop in Oakland, and it will pass you by without stopping. People will also be moving out over finals week (Dec 12-17) so that'd be a good time for a cab too.

8 days till the 15th!....don't know even know why I'm excited for that because my decision is supposed to be coming in late Nov....hopefully it's earlier than that!

If you haven't received an invite from Pitt by now, does that mean your goose is cooked?

I'm doing 12/12 =(

but I will see you next week at Upenn !!! 😉

lol. We were told that everyone checks on November 15 and crashes their server, even people who know they won't have decisions until later.

My decision won't come until winter break, or January if they get off track. :/

just an FYI...looks like they are trickling out decisions via the online status page. I was waitlisted.

F....just checked because of above posts....interviewed mid-October....waitlisted. I realize that it's not the deciding factor but my stats are right at Pitt's averages for those accepted. I know that a lot of the class comes off of the waitlist but if most interviewees are put on the waitlist then I'm assuming most will ultimately get rejected. What percentage of the waitlist gets in?

Oh man, they are releasing decisions already? I just checked and I don't have anything yet (interviewed in Sept)...maybe it's a good sign? :xf::xf::xf::xf:

The only people that I know who have heard thus far have been waitlisted or rejected...so i think not hearing yet is a good thing! Good Luck!

Us news shows that they accept around 400 total. Since they accept about 10% of interviewees outright and they said they would interview around 800-900 this year, I imagine that 80-90 are accepted outright, maybe 100-150 are rejected (15%) and the rest wait listed so maybe around 30-40% are accepted off the waitllist? Don't forget that many people withdraw from the wait list. Also, I spoke to a few students at my interview and they told me that Pitt does this so that they don't give out too many acceptances that are then turned down. They all told me that if I am put on the wait list to write letters of interest. They said not to be too annoying, but to get the point across that I am very interested, if in fact I am.

Thanks for the info! I'm bummed because I made it clear to both interviewers that Pitt is my #1 and sent an update/interest letter after the interview. Time to start on a letter of intent then.

Interviewed first week of September and nothing on the status page yet.

? where do decisions come out? do they not send an email? haha could someone tell me where i can find it online please?

It's not very obvious. It's under the application status on the first 2 lines- I'm waitlisted as well.

I get why you are bummed but I think being on Pitt's waitlist is better than other schools. My student interviewer told me that he was on the waitlist until March and another student was on it until May. It's a lot of waiting, but I think that showing them how interested you are goes a really long way at this school. Good luck:luck: no decision for me yet but maybe we will end up as classmates!

How disappointing, not even an interview yet!

Thanks, you too! I'm going to do everything I can to get off this waitlist, so hopefully see you!
