From the Landlord Survey Results 2012: B/B+ rating
22 of 38 students would recommend this landlord
11 of 38 students would possibly recommend this landlord
5 of 38 students would not recommend this landlord
1 of 38 students reported that they filed a complaint with an external agency on this landlord

(Source: https://surveyweb2.ucsur.pitt.edu/oclrc/) The survey is only accessible to Pitt students (I tried the login info for The Zone and it didn't work, so I used my undergrad login). If there is a landlord/management company you want me to look up, shoot me a PM and I'll send you the ratings and recommendations.

I wonder why that survey isn't available to incoming first years..... presumably the ones who need it most! 🙄

Yeah no idea...I don't really understand why it's password protected in the first place. I believe it only lists companies and landlords that will rent to undergrads. These places will take grad students too (although all the spots may be taken by undergrads by now), but there are a few places that will only rent to grad students, so they aren't on the survey.

Just realized that our white coat ceremony is a mere two months away...

Holy crap! 😱

And.. I got crap load of loans. I will be in debt for half of my professional career. 🙁

Ive lost track of the number of updates and letters of intent/interest I've written. Ive lived in Pittsburgh since i was 5 so interviewing here was a dream come true in it of itself.

If they wanted me they would've accepted me a long time ago. I hope to see some of the wait list reapplicants in next cycles thread!

I've already switched to monitoring the 2012-2013 forum. Good luck and see you there! Who knows, maybe our dreams will come true this time around?

Damn.. I still dont have a place to live. Is there anyone here looking for a room mate? I can either be your room mate or we can rent a 2br. I am willing to rent a 2br at oakhill apartments if anyone wants take the other room. Please PM.

The letter from student affairs said that once they officially send us our e-mail addresses they'll be creating some sort of a list to help people find roommates so I think there's still plenty of time to find one.

not trying to be insensitive...but it is it totally over for waitlisters? does pitt send rejection letters ever so we finally get closure?
has anyone called and asked if there is any possibility for waitlist movement in the future? yeah ive heard the "people get in a week before classes start" but does that really happen more than one person every couple of years?

Pitt seems to be cautious about overfilling their class, and thus they only accept people when others drop their spot. The class might be full right now, but there's always a chance that someone else will decide to withdraw if they get a last-minute spot at their top choice. I think that your chances might be slim right now, but don't count yourself out entirely! There's about 6-7 weeks left before schools starts. Best of luck. 🙂

I don't think it's totally over, but I'm sure movement is slowing down as people are starting to commit. I do know at least one person just withdrew for another school, so that should open up a spot. I'd say to not completely give up hope yet, but to start considering other options just in case.

Meh, I feel the rejection notices will be given out well after it's become far too obvious. IMO, it's time to follow other plans for next year.

Personally, I'm with you and I'd love for closure but too bad for us I guess.

Does anyone live in Denver and want to carpool to Pitt mid to end of July? I will be heading out there once on July 14 and then again on July 20. Pitch in a little for gas?

Yep, Penn State made the same number of offers as in previous years, but had more people accept than usual. They are now over capacity and offering two years of free tuition for those willing to defer for one year. So WL'ers on this list are in much better shape than those on Hershey's WL.

Did anyone else get a call asking if they're "still interested in pursuing their medical education at University of Pittsburgh?" Is this an acceptance off the waitlist? or are they just checking who's still available just in case a spot opens up in the next few weeks? I haven't called back yet to find out exactly what this means - any insight?

If anyone still reads this:

What do the students typically wear to class and during orientation week? Some of my stuff may be arriving after me so I need to know what clothes to bring with me for the first week or two. Thanks!

I was gonna go with my birthday suit, just to see how that plays out. You only get one first impression after all; gotta make it count.

Clinical or formal = khakis, dress shirt, possibly a tie.
Anything else = shorts, t-shirt, flip flops

are you a guy or a gal?

I've been told there's no dress code unless you're dealing with patients (unlike the dental and pharm students here :meanie:). I'm assuming the same goes for orientation week

did everyone get the status change after the rejection email? =) double rejection haha =)
