Just called admissions and was told that there could be movement as early as this afternoon. Good luck to everyone.
 
Just withdrew my acceptance. UVM is an amazing school and I hope my spot goes to one of you!!

I feel like accepting a student today is mean on a the schools part. It is unfair to force a student to make a decision like that in less than 24 hours, especially when they could wait a day, or have let some one know on friday to give them a little time to decide.

Assuming you're already on the waitlist, I'm pretty sure any school accepting you today would be encouraged by the AAMC to give you one week to decide, the same as if you heard on Wednesday or Thursday. (I received a waitlist acceptance last Friday and was given until a week from today to decide, FWIW. Though not at Vermont, obviously! :laugh:)

Tomorrow's deadline is only for those students who hold multiple acceptances. If they wish to be refunded their admissions deposits at multiple schools, they must make a decision and inform the respective schools by tomorrow. The deadline is not for every applicant in general.
 
Ooooh ok I finally get it.....I thought that you would only have until tomorrow to decide but now that I know they give you at least a week I feel much better. The only thing is that even if I got an acceptance from UVM I would need to see whatever financial aid I would get from them before I could decide, even though I would love to go there....which presents a whole other problem....
 
My routine for today has been:
-check OAC
-check SDN
-stalk the facebook group to see any new members have been added
-repeat.

not that this is any way official, but considering that today is the deadline for notifying schools, i honestly wouldn't be surprised if most schools take 1-3 weeks to figure out who withdrew and then replace them with similar applicants. :shrug:
 
I wouldn't either. I'm waitlisted at another school and they told us that the earliest we would find out of any movement would be this Friday.

yeah but haven't people been withdrawing for a few weeks now? I imagine there is definitely a rolling period of wl acceptances but there should be some initial movement today or tomorrow right? (read: its ok to check this thread on my smart phone every 20 min?)
 
Right. You would think that would be the case right? But, med school admissions committees don't really operate using logic 🙂 At least that is what I've learned this past year.

Perhaps, now that the May 15th deadline has pasted we will hear something by the end of the week. Maybe even tomorrow. I think the admissions office probably wanted to make sure they had a relatively final count of open spots.
 
Hi all first time posting but i've been viewing this thread for literally months now.

I've been on the instate wait-list since early FEB and just heard about an hour ago that I'm in for this fall! Looks like movement is starting today!!!

Good luck to everyone and best luck for wherever you may be in the medical school process!

Email at around 5 pm. I was just online writing a nasty email to BLIZZARD about how terrible the diablo 3 launch was going hahaha
 
Here's some news, I got accepted! Checked at noon, then again at 6 - wold have been checking every 15 minutes like most of you are probably doing, but my best friend made me promise to help her move out, even though I tried explaining what today was. She's in business... she didn't get it. Good luck to everyone else, and keep checking! I know there are more acceptances coming out so keep your hopes up!
