I submitted secondary July 20th and haven't been pooled. Is this a silent rejection?

They already had interview invites out around this time last year. Maybe we'll hear about people getting invites soon! :xf:

5 Rejections later...interview invite YAY! So excited...Can't Wait!

Complete 7/29/11
Interview 9/8/11

OOS, 28 R (retake), 3.95 cGPA, 3.97 sGPA

Guys, does UVM accept update messages via email regarding current research etc.?

Yes they do. Email it to them.

If anyone knows what % of pooled applicants get interviews, do please share.

Also, does ANYONE get "rejected" before being pooled? It'd be nice to know if I made any cut whatsoever by being pooled.

(Does the phrase "being pooled" sound like some weird frat initiation prank to anybody else?)

It sounds like a justification to take our money 🙂; get our hopes up a little. I haven't seen anyone rejected yet.

+1 to these questions. someone more proactive than I should check previous year's UVM thread...

Does anyone know if Vermont likes regional/New England applicants more than other OOSers? They seem to have a small # of states represented, but it contains all the NE states:

Alabama Arizona
California Colorado
Connecticut Florida
Georgia Idaho
Maine Maryland
Massachsetts Michigan
Minnesota New Hampshire
New Jersey New Mexico
New York North Carolina
Pennsylvania Puerto Rico
Rhode Island Texas
Utah Vermont
Virginia Washington
West Virginia Wisconsin

~ 2/3rds of completed applications get 'pooled'

~ 1/4th of 'pooled' people get invites

this distribution is a function of applicant pool composition, not of any 'bias.' in other words, more people apply from Vermont than from Montana, so we have more Vermonters.

this list can change from year to year - about half the class in any given year is from either VT or CA, so not every other state is represented in every class....

Interview invite!!!😀😀😀

congratz everyone!!!

my status page says "Last updated on 8/22/2011"

wonder what that means... 😕

My status says that and I haven't been pooled yet. Submitted in early August though.

hmm, I'll check tomorrow and see if it's just an automatic update on the website. Might not mean anything at all.

BTW, when were all you invitees small pooled?

I know I was after docbrill, so I may be next? Or is it random again 😛

Just got my interview adjusted so it works out with my trip into NYC. Taking AMTRAK to Vermont and it only cost $50! Really excited about this school! Congrats to everyone else who got some good news today.

Interview Invite!! Feels so good!! 😀

Pooled 8/5.

For those with invites, what are your stats?

Congrats to everyone who got interview invites. I have been complete since 7/12 and am still not in the pool. I don't think it's looking too good for me at this point haha

Congratz to all! When are you guys interviewing? Mine is at the end of September 🙂

I submitted the secondary on July 28. Still no pool/response. Is it better to not be pooled/to be pooled for an II.

Does anyone know the accepted/interviewed ratio for UVM?

Thanks in advance!

How serious is this school about committee letters? My school offered a committee letter at a steep price: $300 + $50/school. I would have had to pay $1,300 just for a letter that would have been a summary of my other letters, so I decided not to get it.

Most of the schools I have been applying to have granted me exceptions to this, except for Vermont. I called and told them about the high cost and they still said my other letters won't matter since my school offers the committee letter.

I am really interested in this school and am upset because they can't make an exception for this case, even though the committee letter won't add any extra information! I asked the lady if it is even worth for me to go ahead with the secondary, and she said "I guess not".

I am still tempted to send in the secondary and am hoping they eventually understand my situation. Does anybody have advice for me on this? Thanks for your responses ahead of time.

No reason not to give it a shot, if you can afford the secondary fee. And if you don't mind my asking, why didn't you just tell your school you were applying to one or two programs and pay them $350? (Is it Rutgers, btw? I seem to remember a pre-Allo thread about some similar ridiculousness a while back.)

I am really sorry to hear about this. It is such a shame that your school is trying to profit so much out of this process. Thinking back, all my school asked for was a mere $65 per application cycle.
