Awww, well that's still better than no snow at all. I'm so psyched to visit Vermont in a few weeks!
II! Any info on if I'm interviewing for a waitlist position?
When were you complete? If you were complete recently, your II mayn't necessarily be for a waitlist position. Good luck!
you must look like a prune by now..............................yes........lame..........i know...Really long time ago. I turned in my secondary on 7/6 so probably pooled in August.
Congratulations on your many acceptances! Any idea of where you might choose to matriculate?

I am also on the in-state wait-list - I interviewed back in the Fall. I've seen a few people post here after the last adcom meeting that they were admitted from the wait-list. Although, they were from the out-of-state WL - Haven't seen any in-state WL movement. I've heard rumors that they handle the in-state WL mostly at the end of the process in April, but that is pure speculation. So I've been getting pretty antsy lately...I interviewed back in early October and was placed on the in-state wait-list. Has anyone seen any wait-list movement recently? Specifically for in-state applicants? UVM is by far my number one choice!

When is the next committee meeting? When I interviewed they said there may be a big batch of decisions going out this friday...anyone else know?
Hey can anyone list some pros and cons of UVM, i need help deciding between here and EVMS, thanks! Norfolk or Burlington...hmmm
I feel like that was a little much...people get into schools without knowing all that much about them, or get into schools that they have ranked very closely in their heads. In my opinion, the snippit you see on interview day isn't the most insightful representation of the school. I don't think the poster you're responding to had any malicious "rub it in your face" intentions in asking the question...
People do ask for help picking between schools pretty frequently. It seems like I move at least one such thread a day from main preallo over to school specific discussions. Not to be a jerk, but....really?This is something you shouldn't need help with - at least not in the manner that you have presented it here. You alone know yourself best, along your preferences for your medical education. Furthermore, your choice of wording for the last phrase of your response indicates a level of indifference that is unfortunate to see.![]()
I'm genuinely happy for you, in that you have the happy dilemma of choosing between two great programs. However, I might suggest that you employ a modicum of consideration when posting in a thread in which the majority of individuals are either a) still seeking an interview invitation, b) awaiting their interview date, or c) on the OOS or IS Waitlist and regard UVM as their top choice school.

(P.S. I'm sure you meant well, but honestly, IMO your post comes across as more than a bit aloof and unconcerned. If I'm misjudging or responding inappropriately - and I'm sure other SDN'ers will let me know - then please accept my humble apology...the internet's tone-of-voice wires get crossed far too easily.)

hey sisterdisco, thanks for understanding. i really did not mean to offend anyone as stated by the previous post. i was seriously just wondering how these two place compare. I interviewed at different places, and the interview day is like a whirlwind. I am possibly the farthest from a "rub it in your face" personality. I seriously liked norfolk and burlington, but for some reason i can't remember much about the schools. thanks-
Just for those out there still waiting to hear something--check your status page...I never got an email about my interview invite, so it was just sitting on the page for who knows how long.
Anyone know how competitive it is for OOS applicants here?
your pretty intense...this person was just asking advice on what to choose (as an VA resident, i'll admit i'm jealous of their choice between Vermont - a place i applied - and one of my states schools, EVMS - a place i just recently interviewed at) and should be able to come to website without fearing being judged. Additionally, you were insanely over-analyzing their phrasing...i'm assuming you a phish fan from the "run like an antelope" quote you have below your name. As a fellow phish fan, frankly i'm surprised how much you seem to have a stick up the you-know-what.
WHOA. This is the first time I actually see this discussion board get a little nasty. Remember, the UVM discussion board is different than other boards (not to really diss others), but I have felt that the students that are on the UVM discussion boards are a lot more supportive, compassionate and helpful than any other board I have read. Many people on other boards are cut-throat, nasty and straight up negative towards each other.+1
This is meant to be a supportive board. A little compassion and patience can go a long way.

NICE!!! Mr./Ms. NMonte 82, you are one fabulous writer. I wish I was able to articulate myself the way you do. I am glad that this has been a learning experience for everyone. I do recall that your earlier messages have been kind and supportive, as you mentioned. I hope that you are accepted to UVMs super cool student body. LETTERS OF INTEREST DUDE!!Fixed that for you. 😉
....I keeed, I keeeed!Perhaps we all just need to relax a little. I preemptively apologized to LoveDocta in my original post, left myself open to be criticized, and then apologized again following his reply very early this morning. We're all alright now, no?
If you look through my previous posts in this lengthy thread it should be pretty apparent that I'm a supportive person and highly regard the value of community. In fact, it was that feeling which lead to my regrettably overzealous original note. Had the post said something in the vein of "Hey guys, I'm excited to have acceptances to EVMS and UVM. I was wondering if some of you might be able to mention some pro's & cons to help me in making my decision. I know that I am looking for X,Y,Z attributes in a school/city/area, so how does UVM fit with this? Thanks" it wouldn't have pricked me in such a way that I thought it to be cavalier. In hindsight, I should have dialed back the snark-o-meter-5000 from 11 to something much more reasonable. 😳
I obviously place a lot of stock in the idea that the way one writes is indicative of how they carry themselves as a person. That's not to say that everything has to be perfectly worded or onerously formal, but since the interwebs strips tone-of-voice from the communication, taking a few extra moments to write clearly can be a big help.
This process can obviously become overwhelming, exhausting, and stress-laden so a little perspective can go a long way [for myself included]...although proper grammar and punctuation ain't never hurt 'nothin neither. 😛
P.S. I've undergone a radical stickectomy and am able to sit much more comfortably now.
Please accept my apology, and see above post for further clarification.
As for replying to lovedocta07's original question, in my opinion, here are the pro's & con's of UVM.NICE!!! Mr./Ms. NMonte 82, you are one fabulous writer. That's awesome SisterDisco08! You're gonna LOVE UVM. I stayed with a student there too and it's super convenient and very beneficial. Good luck!My interview is scheduled for March 13. Just filled out the student housing form 🙂
I don't think we should lose hope yet! They interview through mid april!
I haven't even stepped into the pool yet, I'd rather be swimming in it with you guys. 😛
