I got the MAY status on aug 2 and still no response. I talked to a lady in the admissions office today and she said it can take 1 or even 2 months to get an answer....
Ok so I just received the secondary app (a little late, but I'm hoping to finish it this weekend) and after perusing VCU's website I can't say that I'm inspired. Nothing grabs me as unique or compelling really. So what's so great about VCU??
I'm really not looking for "answers" to the secondary, I'm genuinely interested in why VCU is a top choice for so many of you. Thanks in advance for your input and congrats to everyone who've gotten interviews so far!![]()
Why are you going into medicine? Do you have any ideas about what type of medicine and/or patient population you would like to work with?
i talked about their mentorship programs, pauley, massey, spinal cord (i'm in a spinal cord injury lab right now), working at inova (where i was hospitalized), among other things

According to medicalschoolinusa:-Does anyone have any advice on interviewing here? Like how many do they typically interview each year and do they ever reject post interview or do they just put you on hold for the next wave? I read 900 interview but I heard that changes. I am just trying to gauge how good of a shot I have with an OOS interview...I really want to attend here!
Does anyone know the difference, if any, between the "Your M.D. application is complete..." status and the "Your file is complete, and has been forwarded to the Admissions Committee for further decision" status?
Good luck to all!
I don't understand why my app status still says incomplete. I sent everything on 7/18. I tried emailing admissions office and even director of admissions but never received any reply. Idk what to do!!
All your LORs are marked as received?
Since more interviews have been given to people with the "may" status can we finally assume this is better than the "further" status?
Yes. On the status page, it says secondary received on 7/18 and LOR's on 7/22.
is the site down right now? I can't get access to it...
Does anyone know if we can send additional letters of recommendation besides the 2 science and 1 non-science?
Yes, I sent four letters total.
You figure out the problem yet? Definitely check that you have met the science/non-science LOR requirements. My status was incomplete, because they had mistakenly marked one of my science LOR as non-science. I called the admissions office, and they took care of it the next day. If they don't answer just leave them a message, they'll get back to you. Emails don't seem to work with them, at least for me.I don't understand why my app status still says incomplete. so are we supposed to do anything special (i.e. email them) if we're nearing our 30 days since getting the "may" status?
How many days did it take for VCU to say they had received your letters of recommendation after you had released them from AMCAS?
I spoke to them on the phone and they said it can take one even two months, so i would hold off until the end of sept or early october before i email them.

I would also like to know. It's been over two weeks and VCU still has not marked them as received for me.
I know someone has asked this but I can't seem to find it: how long from "application under review" until they assign you a priority score and give you a new status?
I have a problem with copy and paste. I did my essay on Word and saved it as txt in Notepad, but when I copy and paste from notepad onto the essay space in the application, it does not show indentation and just shows up as one chunk of paragraph. Any idea? Thanks!
everyone's essay showed up like that. I think the consensus was that the adcom will see it in the correct indented format, so just submit it as is
