It took two weeks after my primary was verified for Wake to send me an email acknowledging that they had received it, and another few days for me to get the secondary link. Don't worry too much! You'll get an email with a login whether you end up with a secondary or not.

Hmmm...I just got an email indicating they now have my primary (2 weeks after verification). Is it going to be a while before they either give me a secondary or reject me?

It seems like we haven't heard much in the way of interview invites recently. Hopefully they send some more out soon.

Just make sure you use a lot of substantiation. You'll still feel like a kiss***, but you'll also sound more sincere.

lots of substance already, like i said, i mean every word... just cant help feeling like an awkward teenage boy writing a love letter to the popular girl in school 😎

I think they generally do things in waves. I popped into the admissions office last week (wanted to go back over a test after first exam results came back), they looked busy.

Quick question: Do they acknowledge receiving your payment/secondary? Almost all schools to which I've applied emailed me shortly after submitting, but no dice with Wake.

I got a complete email, but no email acknowledging payment.

I didn't get anything email from them right after I submitted, which freaked me out a bit, but I eventually got the complete email a while later.

I submitted 8/9, and got their complete e-mail on 8/22. They're probably just swamped with applications right now and it's taking them a while to get to it! Hang in there 🙂

Is it possible to inquire about why you were rejected pre secondary? If so, anyone know the best method of doing so? Thanks...good luck to everyone still in the running.

I would just email the admissions office. People have done so in the past.

Hope to see some of you all on interviews.

Interview invite via email this morning - first for me.

OOS 3.7 34O

Excited.

Whew. Finally screened in for a secondary!

AMCAS verified 20-Jul. Primary acknowledged on 9-Aug.

Yeah they take a REALLY long time to acknowledge and send out the secondary. I just checked my status and it says they are sending it and may take up to 2 weeks! Added this school to my verified primary app Aug 12. But I'm not complaining cause I'm happy to be getting one!

God. Wake takes forever to send acknowledgement...submitted primary a week ago and still nothing.

Interview Invite! First of the season and it's at one of my top picks! YEAAAAAH!

OOS interview invite! I'm really feeling the North Carolina love this week; I just got my UNC invite two days ago. See my MDApps for stats.

Could someone post the link to the status page? I can only find the access to secondary application link.

did anyone get a confirmation email from wake saying they received your email to confirm your interview date?

Added them to my AMCAS list two weeks ago...

No communication of any kind. Is this to be expected? At this point I'm wondering whether I should follow through even if they DO send one. My stats are good so that isn't it. Oh well.

Wake was one of the last schools to send me an email acknowledging that they'd received my primary. I think it came two weeks or so after I was verified. Then they sent me the secondary about three or four days later. Just be patient, you'll get an acknowledgement email with a link to check your status. 🙂

Headed to Wake Forest today - excited to meet everyone! good luck to the rest of you interviewing tomorrow 👍

have fun. 1st and 2nd years have exams this week so it will probably seem more stressful than normal.

Let us know how it goes! I won't be there until the end of the month.

Good luck! :luck:

nabada....if i ever knew a beast at med school admissions...i'd have to proclaim you...one could only aspire for your impressive record lol.

Rejection. O.S. 30Q 3.7 GPA. Glad I didn't have to pay for the secondary. All schools should do this. First rejection of the year, hope its the last. :xf:

Anyone know if wake accepts update letters/post-interview letters of interest?

Loved Wake Forest!👍 It seems admissions recruits perspective students with good people skills that will become great clinicians; I probably met 20 med students while I was there and everyone was friendly, outgoing and easy to talk to. Interviews are low stress.

PM me if you have any specific questions about the interview day.

Glad you enjoyed yourself, did you actually get to meet any first years? (I don't recall ever seeing an interview group, but I've been studying most of the time this week).

yeah! I stayed with some of the first years, they brought me to one of the global brigades meeting the night before and then let me sit in on the morning urology/reconstructive surgery lecture from Dr. Badlani before the interview, which was fascinating by the way - as far as the actual interview and tour we didn't see many of the students except for a couple groups studying in the anatomy lab and the students at lunch. but good luck on your test tomorrow!

Yeah, I asked because I feel like you don't meet many students during the actual interview day, it's one of the things that I dislike about how interview days are planned. Most of the reason is that the admissions office is just too far out of the way and no one ever goes up there when we actually have stuff to do. But it sounds like you got a chance to chat with other first years since you came early. I just remember when I interviewed I talked to a total of 2 first year students and 1 third year student and that was it.

Does wake forest send an email saying they have my primary or do they only email if you get a secondary?

I agree, admissions could do a better job of letting the perspective students interact with the current students on the interview day, I doubt I would have gotten as good of an impression/feel for the student body (which is awesome and makes me want to attend Wake 10X more than before) if i hadn't of attended those other activities - 2nd years at lunch and our tour guide were fun though

7/14/2011: Application complete
7/29/2011: Put on hold for new MCAT score
8/30/2011: Received new MCAT score
9/10/2011: Received secondary

Anyone know: can 1st year students volunteer at the DEAC? What other clinical experiences are available for 1st and 2nd year students?

1st year students do indeed volunteer at DEAC.

Off the top of my head, there are two big clinical experience courses built into the curriculum, one is a clinical medicine course which is basically medical interview and physical exam. It meets once a week, alternating between physical and interview, when you are on an interview week you go up to the wards and practice your interviewing and history taking. You start this from week 1, so I actually saw a patient on my 2nd day of medical school. At the end of the course, you have standardized patient assessments.

The 2nd thing is something called CPE, which is where you spend a week (I think it's 4 weeks total distributed throughout 1st and 2nd year) with a physician in a primary care practice somewhere in NC. It's basically a chance for you to put things that you learn in FCM to use.

Other than that, there are a lot of shadowing opportunities, lots of volunteer opportunities, things like Peds Pals, doctors love having med students shadow.
