I got the complete email I think 10 days after I submitted... but I also had to wait for my committee letter to arrive at AMCAS in that time. And thanks!

interview invite!!!! really feeling the love from all my instate schools 😀

just got the email this afternoon.
im oos, complete 7/20
3.47/35P

gd luck guys!

I hadn't heard from Wake for a few weeks after submitting on 7/22. I sent a change of address e-mail to the office last Thursday, including a couple sentences mentioning how much I liked the school. This afternoon (4 days later) I got an interview invite. It appears that they like to know you're interested.

Your 39, 4.0 gpa and in state status might have had something to do with it.

haha, perhaps… but I was a little worried because I hadn't heard from them and it seemed like other people were getting interviews who were complete after me.

Either way, if you really like WF, it sure doesn't hurt to let them know!

i dont really know how to do that... i mean already wrote them a bit saying why i liked the state, liked the school, and felt it was a good match. i hope that an extra loveyou update is not their primary means of assessing genuine interest or anything 😕

Yeah. I might couch my email like, "can you tell me what my complete status means," and then throw in a little interest. I've been complete for a while now, so I'm starting to get a little worried.

I was just wondering how much you guys wrote for the essays. I'm about to submit the secondary but I'm not sure I wrote enough considering Wake is one of my top choices...I have about 2000 characters for the essay and 3500 characters for the personal statement. What do you guys think?

Thanks and good luck to those who got interviews already!

My required essay was about 1500 and my optional essay was even shorter. I am interviewing OOS next month!

I wrote about 3000 for the required essay, but only about 1350 for the personal statement. I'll be interviewing in-state next month. I don't think it's the length that matters, as long as you have meaningful content.

Hi all, first time poster here

To those who applied last year or anyone else: Any idea know how stringent Wake Forest's cuts are post-secondary? The stats on MSAR are pretty daunting...

I believe that the post-secondary cuts are the largest. I think only about 500 interview and then after that you have a pretty good shot (~50%).

According to Mrs. Irene Tise:
1/3 of applicants get a secondary
1/3 with completed secondaries get an interview
1/2 of those interviewed are accepted

7485 apps; interview 501; accepted 276; first year class = 120

Rejected pre-secondary...what...OOS 3.6/31R from top Ivy. Guess we are not meant to be Wake Forest

Rejected Pre secondary.

30Q. 3.57.

Good luck to the rest of you!

Rejected Pre-Secondary as well 🙁

Good luck everyone!

Random question - are girls wearing skirt suits expected to wear panty hose? It will be pretty hot in W-S in September, I'm hoping I will be able to skip the hose..

I would go conservative and wear them. I'm wearing a skirt suit and yes I will be wearing them.

Absolutely wear panty hose. Check out the tread titled, "Women's Interview Clothing #3." It's this year's thread for questions like this one. You will find a lot of information there.

Thanks so much!

can anyone post the link to their applicant login website? I somehow misplaced the email with it, and I can't for the life of me find it anywhere on their website. Thanks.

So is there a consensus on whether the September through March status is a good sign or totally neutral?

I'm pretty sure I had the Sept-March status at some point last year.

Is this status the : "Your application is complete. Interviews are held september through march. If offered an interview you will be notified by email or phone call." status?

Yep, that's the one I was referring to. I was looking at some previous posts about it and it seemed like some people were saying it means your pooled for an interview but others were saying it is just a blanket status for being in review.

I think its just notifying you that your file is complete.

I was verified on 8/12 and still have not received a secondary application. Is this normal...?

Well, if you haven't heard anything then it is probably neutral right now.

This school pre-screens for sending out the secondary app, so there aren't silent rejections at that phase. It is possible that the number of applications already received has slowed down their response time in sending out secondaries to newly arrived primaries. Of course this is all conjecture on my part.

Before I finished my secondary, I proofread my essays; however, I went back this morning to show my friend my essay and there are upside down question marks instead of apostrophes and quotations. I called WFSOM admissions and before I could say anything, they named the problem (as if it were common) and said that they won't hold anything against me for the formatting issues. Has anyone else had this problem?

The fact that the admissions staff was able to finish your sentence for you as you described your problem suggests yes, others have had the same issue. 😉 Most likely a poor translation from (RTF --> plain text), happens all the time.

I was more checking with everyone to see if this was an error on my end (I didn't check my work) or if this was something that happened after the submission. I could have guaranteed I read it twice on the confirm page before I pressed submit and I definitely would have picked up on this (my paper looks like Spanish with all these upside down question marks). I just don't want to be viewed as lazy if in fact it was my fault.

I'm having a lot of difficulty writing a "Why Wake" blurb without feeling like a complete kiss*****. Anyone feel me on this? Like I mean everything I am saying about how great I think they are, but when I write it out like that it sounds insincere...

Just make sure you use a lot of substantiation. You'll still feel like a kiss***, but you'll also sound more sincere.

Free tip: for those those who happen to be applying to both wake forest and stanford, you only have to write one essay. 😀

Wake Forest prompt:

The Committee on Admissions invites you to share important and/or challenging factors in your background, such as the quality of your early educational environment, socioeconomic status, culture, race, ethnicity or life or work experiences. Please discuss how such factors have influenced your goals and preparation for a career in medicine.

Stanford prompt:

The Committee on Admissions regards the diversity of an entering class as an important factor in serving the educational mission of the school. The Committee on Admissions strongly encourages you to share unique, personally important, and/or challenging factors in your background, such as the quality of your early educational environment, socioeconomic status, culture, race, ethnicity, or life or work experiences. Please discuss how such factors have influenced your goals and preparation for a career in medicine.

^I actually withdrew from Stanford last year because I didn't want to finish their secondary. If only I had actually read the prompts.
