Non-acceptances are probably e-mails. So...there's that. They might do both e-mails and physical mailings for acceptances, as well. Certainly would speed up the financial aid process.

I was pretty bummed for a few minutes when I though my interviewer may have been RL!

Does anyone know if the portal is going to be useful tomorrow?

(I keep calling it the "portkey")
 
I went through the significant areas of the Columbia's thread from last year, and no one mentioned getting a call from DD. In fact, there was no mention of DD anywhere. I know decisions come out only tomorrow, but it gives me hope! Maybe me interviewer doesn't make phone calls?...:/

Well my interviewer called people today, so Im going to go ahead and guess that its a waitlist for me. Heres to hoping he is handing out a ton of acceptances or forgot what he was doing halfway through his day :meanie:

Really hope tomorrow brings a finalized answer either way... dont want this to drag on through the weekend.

Congrats to all those accepted!!!

Oh and this was definitely a horrible day to check SDN... BP has been elevated since 12pm hahaha.
 
So, called interviewer after missed called, left message, emailed her, she emailed me back and told me to call back after 6. I called at 6:05, then tried again at 6:25. It's not an hour later. I haven't left additional messages.

What do?? I hate phone tag...

I say have some cookies and wine, and wait another hour or so. She is probably just doing doctor things.

Yeah, to be clear, I'm not being a brat and saying 'why isn't she calling me back?!?' i just want to make sure I'm being proactive enough without being annoying. Basically, I don't want to annoy her! Haha.

Why do you care if you have a chance to talk to her? You're in if she called you. They do not call you to put you on the wait list. Relax and celebrate; all the information you needed about your status came with the first voicemail.

To be transparent, I had a less than comfortable interview with her (she seems hard to impress) so I am still anxious to make a good impression. I know that might not matter, but still, haha. And yes, that might make me neurotic. If you were there in the interview with me, you might understand, haha.

Anywho, I realize I'm just being unnecessary so....shutting up 🙂
 
Wait I though the advisory deans were our interviewers and they make the calls right? Who are these DK and DDs. Do you guys mean DQ? I am so confused.

Not everyone interviewed with an advisory dean.

They're reported as having called people by others. Mine is just my impression of them, and their record last year (everyone on SDN who interviewed with them was waitlisted, though :\, but my interviewer didn't seem even a little like the type to make a call to people)

Why are you trying to make an impression on someone who accepted you already? Even if she hates you, you still got accepted, and that's more than impressive enough for most people. There is no "still," or "if you were in there with me." You're accepted. Celebrate 🙂

As Dean Nicholas said at the interview, Columbia was the last med school to switch to AMCAS, and that was because of his doing when he was appointed, with the effort to modernize the admissions process. Calling applicants on cell phones is new and hip, as opposed to mailing the decisions in traditional fashion, so I'm guessing if you interviewed with somebody who is on the older side, they probably won't call. Those I've received calls from this cycle have been young to middle aged (as many med school admissions deans are these days). Just a theory!

Probably a good generalization, but def. not for all cases. My interviewer graduated from P/S in 1955.

I'm not sure when we'll get official word, but I believe my interviewer said it would be on the weekend of April 12 when he called. I definitely could have heard that wrong though given that I practically blacked out with excitement.

I got an acceptance call as well! I was at work until 10pm, and I just checked my voice mail. I got in! Although, I should probably wait to call back tomorrow so that I don't seem too desperate. Lol

Omg Columbia. I am shaking right now. This is unbelievable!

Edit: In the email we got last week, it says "make sure you are able to log into our online application system." I'm pretty sure the looming emails tomorrow will tell you to log into the application to view your decision. Gettin high tech with Zap Solutions this year, Columbia!

Honestly, I think the majority of acceptances will come out tomorrow. A lot of the calls that went out today went out kinda late in the day. At work, my phone died after 6, so I got a late call. The majority of the interviewers probably found out later in the day. Those of us who found out today probably just had interviewers who work late. Tomorrow is officially March 1 (today since its after midnight) so don't start sweating!

I interviewed with GW, but that was a rare interview. I got the impression that that person does not interview much.

My phone call may have been one of the rare evening calls since I am overseas right now. I definitely think many more calls will be going out tomorrow (for most people in the states)!
 
Keep in mind a lot of people probably got called and only like 5-10% of them posted on SDN. P&S is a dream school for many, and not everyone's first reaction is to log onto a forum and post about it lol

that seems disheartening for those who haven't heard back, that means 130 to 260 heard back yesterday if 5-10% posted, leaving not much probability left

CONGRATS WiP!!!! So glad you didn't have to sit around all day and wait.

I wish they'd just email out rejections/WL notifications now so I can stop hoping. 🙂
