anyone know when Jefferson's last interview day is? I haven't had mine scheduled yet and am wondering if it's April 10 (last year it was April 11). If so, I need to buy a plane ticket/talk to my boss asap!

The last interview day at Jefferson is April 10th.
 
for financial aid I am assuming Jefferson looks at family assets (i.e. parents) and not just applicant income right? trying to figure out if I should fill out financial aid info and would like to know about this.

Yes put parent stuff on there. Nothing bad can come of it. If your parents aren't wealthy, you might get money (lol @ that though, this is Jefferson after all). If they are wealthy, you'll pay full tuition.

Never know till ya try.

For those of you who were accepted to Jefferson, or are currently students, would you mind giving me advice on what Jefferson is really looking for? I really want to go here, and I only 2 have shots left to get into medical school. So I really want to maximize my chances! Please Pm me or post here and I would greatly appreciate it!
 
I think jeff is really big on community service (jeffhope) and producing clinicians rather than researchers
 
does anyone know when jefferson will release financial aid packageS?
 
Could the financial aid packages include scholarships? Or were those previously dealt out with the acceptances?

I think this wednesday is the last interview day- though when they set up my interview on Monday they wanted me to come in two days later, so it's not inconceivable that they would still invite someone to interview this week.
 
Would anyone mind telling me about the main hospitals that Jefferson has students do clinicals at? and what is so awesome about them :]

Take the SEPTA from your airport terminal to 30th street station. I think the 7$ fare has to be paid in cash, so have some on you.

Then cab the other 2 miles for another 10$.

Or you can cab from the airport for around 30$ if you're pressed for time.

Google Maps will tell you what means to take via public trans. It's not that difficult and is pretty much a direct route to Center City. If you don't want to navigate SEPTA, just take a taxi.
 
No need to get off at 30 th st and take a cab- just stay on the train 2 more stops to "market east"- Jefferson is 3 blocks south of there- see you there!

just looked it up in the admissions brochure online -
says rotations occur "at the Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and at several excellent, affiliated community hospitals and Veterans Administration Medical Center. There are 21 hospitals affiliated with the Jefferson Medical College of which 8 (Aria Health, Christiana Care of Delaware, duPont Hospital for Children, Lankenau Hospital, Albert Einstein Medical Center, Reading Hospital, Wilmington Veterans Administration Medical Center and York Hospital) provide the bulk of clinical material for students and residents."

I couldn't exactly tell you why specifically they're so great - I know TJUH has tons of doctors and all sorts of strong depts, like plastics and ophthalmology and I know it's a level 1 trauma center - I'd recommend just googling some of the names if you're interested in finding out more

and Doc Strange and the rest - wish I could see you all there but I will be busy doing stuff for school during 2nd look - I'll be there in the fall though!

Hey guys, does anyone have any information about the grading system at Jefferson? I heard it was Honors/Pass/Fail, but does that mean only the top 10% of the class can get Honors? Also, how are the students ranked? (i.e. quartiles?)

Honors is 90%+
Pass is 70-89%
Fail is <70%

Everyone could get any of them. Theoretically the entire class could honor a course, or the entire class could fail a course. No clue on ranking, they didn't really mention it to us. 🙄

The cheapest way would probably be the megabus. IMO the best way would be the Acela express.

Look into bolt bus as well. They seem to stick to their schedule a little better than megabus, IMO. Definitely Amtrak if you're on any sort of time crunch. Not worth risking the delays associated with the bussing system to save a few dollars.
Also, Amtrak has a AAA discount if you're a member.
 
You can also take septa to Trenton, and then nj transit to the city - they arrange the schedules so the nj train is waiting for the septa connectors - pretty easy and much cheaper than amtrak

P.S. Good luck to all of those still waiting to hear a final decision- a good number of current students were originally waitlisted so there is still hope!
 
Does Jefferson prefer a LOI sent to the admissions office, or will an email to Dr. Callahan be just as effective if not more?

At the interview, Dr. Callahan said to email her about once a month if waitlisted so she knows you are still interested.. but does that mean a LOI should be sent directly to her?
