Just got the call too! First acceptance! Soooo excited!!!! 🙂

Got the call about an hour ago, unless something strange happens Im pretty sure Im going to find myself in Maywood in about 6 months!

For those of you who just got accepted (CONGRATS btw!!!! 😀) what were your stats?

is there a facebook group for accepted? could someone provide the link?

...I didn't get a call last night...what advice can you guys give? 🙁 Is it a definite no at this point?

They say that they try to call "most" accepted students, but if they run out of time then you may not get a call. Some students don't get called but still get accepted, while others are often waitlisted and occasionally (likely rarely at this stage in the process) rejected. Sadly, now you'll have to wait for your letter in the mail.

I submitted my secondary app way back in August. I'm currently a student at Loyola's undergrad. MCAT 27Q, GPA 3.8. However, my status reads: "This status has not been verified!!!!" for months! I've called & emailed a couple of times, only to be told that my app is complete and all I can do is wait. I see on this forum that this status apparently means I'm getting an interview, but it's been months & I haven't heard anything! Did this happen to anyone else?

II today for Dec 10th. OOS, complete 9/17

Thanks! Marked for under review in late October. 4.0; 33Q

This happened to me too. I e-mail them at first to see what it meant and they said that my app is complete and they are working on it. But then I called about 2 weeks ago and they said that they had placed my app in the wrong pile and they would send it up for review. I am now "under review with the committee" so maybe something similar happened to yours. They said they were waiting on my MCAT which they had already received.

Still not complete! Submitted 9/17. Loyola, why you no mark me complete?

Is Dean Jones/ADCOM receptive to post-interview, but pre-decision LOIs? I want to do everything to help me at this school!

I was just accepted (HOORAY!), and submitted a combination letter of intent/thanks for interview/update on ECs the day after I interviewed. So, perhaps the committee is receptive; at least, it didn't hurt in my case, but can't say for sure that it did anything to help.

Sorry if this post is too late to help out; 'new to SDN

We definitely want people who want to be here 🙂 So I'd agree that those things can only help. Loyola really looks for 1) people who "fit" (volunteer, are nice/compassionate, etc.) and 2) people who want to be here. Impressive stats help, but personality matters more once you get the interview.

Unfortunately with somewhere around 9,500 applications and only room for about 550 interviews, we can't get to know everyone's personality before extending interview invites. But having that long secondary sure helps out--it weeds out those who are "just applying" to Loyola, and it gives those who really want to come here one more chance to shine and tell us who they are. I believe only 2/3 of applicants actually fill out the secondary...

Loyola is my first choice. Did not get a call, looks like I got waitlisted again (second year applying to Stritch School of Medicine). Was really confident that my interview went well. I guess getting called for an interview second year did not guarantee anything. So bummed. Not even sure what could have gone wrong.

Call..... My file was complete after yours... I was complete in October

Sent using SDN app, please excuse typos and brevity.

Well that was an excellent suggestion. When I saw your post, I called and the guy first politely informed me that there were still technical difficulties and that they would get to me soon.

I then pointed out that you were marked complete a full month before me and that I was pretty sure I got skipped. He finally agreed to have me marked complete. Success! (It only took ten phone calls over the course of two months...for me to get to the committee before December :bang::bang::bang::bang:)

Do I even still have a chance at this school? I'm pretty sad about all this cause I love this school and I would love to go here and it'll be as if I just turned my app in instead of two months ago! Am I dead in the water??

Honestly, I have no idea.... I'm still under review.....at this point, if ppl are scheduling interviews for January, I'm going to assume any interview scheduled for February or after is a waitlist spot....but that is just my opinion....

Does anyone know if Loyola teaches to the boards?

I mean we don't have assigned reading out of First Aid if that is what you are asking. I'm not even sure what "teaching to the boards" is exactly but I would say yes and no.

YES:

we are given First Aid before we start 2nd year
we have lectures throughout the 2nd year (1 every 6wks) to brush up on 1st year stuff for boards
we are often referred to poignant graphs or pages in First Aid that are pertinent to class
have 6+ weeks of dedicated study period for Step 1

NO:

There are things we learn that have no chance of appearing on boards but this mostly happens in the first year. As an M2, honestly, it doesn't happen too much. At least not to the point where it makes me feel like I am wasting my time. Usually the extra information is in some way useful in patient care and the professor knows it is something extra.

Hope this answers your question

Thanks for the info!

For those who interviewed, do you know when the interview day ends approximately? I want to know if I can safely fly out the same night. Thanks!

I made it to their airport for a 5:30 flight! (it didn't leave, I was trying to get back east during sandy, but I made it to the airport.) If you book an evening flight you should be fine

Has anyone made an accepted students Facebook page? If so, can someone post the link?

2:30 at the latest

Incorrect. My 2nd interview started at 2:00 and went pretty long, and they ask you to take a survey after (although this doesn't take too long)...I didn't leave stritch until about 3:30. Also, I know it's possible to end up with a third interview (as far as I understand, this happens when your first two interviewers disagree, but I'm not certain about that), so I wouldn't cut it too close. Flying out the night of' shouldn't be a problem, but it's possible you could be at Stritch much later than 2:30...

Good luck!!

Been under review for 10 weeks now, is this normal? Should I be expecting a decision soon?

Nope, "file is under review with the committee on admissions."

I think thats infinitely better than being on hold! From last year's thread it seems like this schools hold is pretty much a kiss of death for most applicants.

YES! I'm inspired.

When were you put on hold? And, I'm going to go there - what hold status did you have? Application has been reviewed or application is complete and pending further review?

I had the complete and pending further review and I can't remember exactly but I wanna say I was put on hold in september

Is this the "hold" status?

Your file has been reviewed by the Committee on Admissions. The review process is continuous from now until the conclusion of our interview season in mid-April. If you are granted an interview, you will be contacted by phone and/or e-mail.

I submitted my secondary in July, complete in August sometime.

I am been under review for a similar time but no II. I see some II went out today. Kicking myself for leaving my phone at home today.
