This may be a stupid question but whats appropriate attire for an open house? Business casual?
We recently decided to make the FB group private - if people would like to join, please PM me. Thanks! How do we join the fb group? It doesn't work when I try to click it lol. I finally decided on QU, I wanna meet the rest of you!
I hadn't heard this. I think it's really weird. The short white coat is a rite of passage in medicine. It also ruins the symbolism when your residency gives you your long white coat for the first time IMHO

Anybody?
They aren't long! We were told specifically that they are not "physician" length. They are simply a tad bit longer than the norm for med students and apparently more flattering too (lol).
I couldn't make it to the open house. Was there any sort of new information shared during it?

no one has been privy to such knowledge AFAIK. People have called but are not able to learn a whole lot about the waitlist
Is everyone ranked equally on the waitlist?
haha he specifically said "secrets"?
yea i dont think they will re-evaluate the entire wait list pool so they may have some informal ranking or who knows maybe its ranked
I called them and they said the waitlist is not ranked. At the open house, most of the questions were about the waitlist. Dr. Yeckel said there definitely will be movement, but he's not sure how much. It just depends on how many students give up their spots within the next couple of weeks.
Did they say anything about how students will be pulled from the wait list then if there is no ranking??
Well, if there is no ranking, I'm guessing it may be random. If that's the case, there's no saying how they'll pull off students from the WL. "Good fit" is the term they used.
probably pull names out of a hat
Article in this morning's Hartford Courant says there are 125 of us on the waitlist.

Is 125 considered a lot though? I would say roughly half of the incoming class will come off their wait list considering they are a new school.
seems about right probably 20-30 will come from the wait list but with the list being so large acromonkey is right..its game over.
It's not game over for everyone, but I'd say for most. I'm going to keep my fingers crossed for us!! One of my friends (who attends Columbia - from the wait list) said she didn't think 125 was that many and that I shouldn't be discouraged. But I don't know how much I want to believe that lol
Nope, according to the MSAR, it's ~160.how big is the incoming class at columbia? is it 60 too?

I think ~75 might have been a more reasonable WL for QU.
So frustrated. I really thought I had a shot of making it off the WL.
In a way its also reassuring, because that means they rejected about 50% of the people they interviewed so we all made the cut. I don't think a 125 person waitlist is THAT large either; and there will definitely be some movement in a couple weeks around that magic May 15 date

I agree.. It's also important to note that not everyone on the wait list who does get an offer for acceptance will end up taking it. People on the wait list I am sure have other acceptances or may be getting off other wait lists...
Also very true. I would think people who have other acceptances but agreed to be on the wait list really want to go to QU, because otherwise they wouldn't serve on their wait list. So if they get accepted, I would think they'd take their spot (unless they really dislike the financial aid package). Or maybe I'm wrong all together. I sure hope!!
Not totally true. I know of a few people who have acceptances at other schools and continue to stay on wait lists knowing that they will probably not even matriculate if offered an acceptance off a wait list. Someone even said "I just want to see if I can get in haha"... In essence, you really don't lose anything by staying on the wait list...
Sounds like 1/3 of the waitlist will get in-- that doesn't sound too bad.
Where did you see that?
Half the class typically gets in off the waitlist, the waitlist is 120 students. Basically a third which is typical of medical schools.
