For us, they said that they don't know. At other schools that have been around 100 years, they know that the ratio will be 3:1 or w/e and for them they still don't know. I don't understand how they figured the 250 to 100 thing that they are doing if they don't know.

Question for you all:

To the individual who stated on February 15 that he/she was told that there were 600 interviews and 250 acceptances ..

That's great news that we are able to know the specific percentage chance of
acceptance that we have. I don't want to over analyze, but how did they specifically state this information? If they were recently approved to have a 100 person class, how can they guarantee that they will not go above that number with 250 acceptances?

What I am trying to say is, how do they know already this early in the cycle that they are sending out that many acceptances, and that that specific number of acceptances will result in 100 spots taken, no more, no less?

I'm not the individual who posted that, but I was also told this info on my interview day. It was stated by one of the admissions personnel after the financial aid presentation, and my group was told that they intend to send out 200-250 acceptances this year.

This is a very common practice; all schools over-accept because they know that not everyone who receives an offer will end up matriculating. They have a good idea of how many acceptances to send out based on what the trend has been for previous classes (and probably since TCMC is newer, they've also looked at what the general trends are at similar schools). This means that in previous years, the ratio of all acceptees to actual matriculants was about 2:1 or 2.5:1, and they expect that ratio to remain relatively constant this year. So, last year when they wanted an incoming class of ~70, they probably sent out 140 to 175 acceptances with the expectation that only 40-50% would actually accept the admissions offers and matriculate. Since they're going to be increasing the incoming class size, they've increased the number of acceptances accordingly this year to fit that 2:1 or 2.5:1 ratio. There's always the possibility that more students will accept their offers of admission than the school expects, leading to a larger than desired class size. This actually happened last year at Penn State. I'm sure each school handles it differently, but students at Penn State were given the option of deferring a year with some kind of scholarship offer as enticement to do so. However, I'd say that in general, schools have a very good idea of what to expect and err on the conservative side when sending out acceptances to avoid those kinds of situations, especially since if not enough students accept their admissions offers, they can always take people off of waitlists.

No no, I completely understand the logic behind over accepting and was aware of it before I posted my comment. I appreciate your concern though. The range of 200 to 250 acceptances that you state makes more sense because it is by default, just that -- a range. This, as opposed to planning for exactly 250 acceptances, no more, no less.

I am sort of bummed to hear about this range, even though that's what I assumed initially. It just means that means that the eventual number could be closer to 200 instead of closer to 250. Oh well, here's to hoping that we all get in.

Thanks for the help, guys!

Ah, my bad. Yeah, hopefully it's closer to 250. :xf:

For those of you who have already interviewed, did they email you the parking pass?

No, I emailed her but she didn't reply in time. I just parked in one of the TCMC lots and I didn't get a ticket. Just tell Kelley where you parked.

This was a really nice school. At first, I was strongly inclined to not attend my interview, however, now I am very happy that I did. The faculty were all very nice and welcoming. The facilities were amazing. The students seemed happy. The only thing I did not like as much was the area only because it didnt seem like there was much to do around there. But other than that, it was really good and I wouldnt mind a chance of going here.

Does anyone know if the exit interview counts?
I hope it didn't😕

Lol. At lunch, the med student at my end of the table went through a detailed list of all of the places you could get drinks around the school, even the place that gives free food once a week.

If the previous notification dates are any indication, hope for an acceptance phone call over the next week before the actual date. I'm staring at my 4th straight deferral, so we'll see.

when are they getting fully accredited?

can we even get loans or scholarships with their current status?? i didn't even realize the importance of this til now...

They get accredited when the first class graduates. Of course you get loans and scholarships. The last three classes didn't just pay cash for their tuition. Call FA office to talk tp an advisor

ok ok good. I was just reading various articles and there was some weird wording about scholarship/loan availability based off their acc. status.

The next week before the actual date? So, for Feb 27 people, this week? 😕

FYI.. I interviewed Wednesday and Kelley Williams stated that AdCom will hold a new meeting date in late march and they will have another release date of admissions on April 5th. She stated that anyone who interviewed Feb 15-March 15 will receive their decisions on this date. Good luck everyone.

Ah, thanks for this info! I interviewed on Feb. 13th, and my group was told that we'd hear back on the April date and that they were hoping to change the date to early April. I wonder if this means that my group will actually hear back next week or if we'll still have to wait until April? Either way, I'm glad that they were able to move the date up a bit.

Where do we send update emails? I sent to admissions @tcmc etc.. but never received a response.

+1. Hope to hear something next week but I prepare myself for April date.

They don't accept LOI or Update Letters until you're officially waitlisted in April.

Any acceptance phone calls this week? They've been early on previous dates.

do they have a place to hang coats? Also do they provide any coffee/morning snacks or is it just lunch?

Thanks!

Yes, they have coat hangers and they provide coffee and water prior to the interviews. No snacks are available. Just peppermints. Good luck!

There was coffee and cookies in the morning at my interview. And peppermints.

Anyone else going to the 2nd look on April 20th?

I am. From what I heard last year there were a decent amount of people. It was either 30 or 50...I forget what the student said exactly.

I wish I can. Is there a deadline to register to go? If I find out at the April date, will I still be able to go?

For anyone who has interviewed here previously, I have to take the greyhound or martz trailway to New York after my interview. I know my interview confirmation says the day ends at 3PM, but does it usually end earlier like most other schools and is that enough time to make a 3:25 or 3:45 bus out? Also, does anyone know how to get from TCMC to the bus station? Coming from california, public transportation is essentially non-existant haha, so its all new to me. Thanks for your help!

I received an e-mail that mentioned the revisit day and it said they would send more info about it in the spring. If you get accepted on the April date, I'm sure that you would have the option to attend

For me, the interview day ended according to the schedule, not earlier.

Did anyone who was accepted get a confirmation e-mail about your deposit being received by the school to reserve your spot? Sent mine in a while ago and no word. Not sure if that's normal of if they haven't received it yet.

That is strange. I received a deposit received email the week after I sent it in. You should probably call to make sure they have it.

Edit: Woah, wrong thread. Sorry guys, I'm also waiting for a decision from here and have Commonwealth on the brain.

I was thinking the same thing. Nothing here. Interviewed 11/30, deferred in January. I got nothing in the mail today.

Questions for you guys:

(1.) Is anyone aware of whether or not this notification will come in the form of an e-mail or postmail?

(2.) Am I mistaken to think that if you get a "certiphi" e-mail before receiving an acceptance, that you have an acceptance somewhere, potentially TCMC?

(3.) Has anyone gotten accepted without getting the certiphi e-mail beforehand?

Thanks in advance!

Indeed, I've been holding my breathe for a Certiphi email that hasn't yet come. And we are supposed to be notified tomorrow.

Did anyone else who interviewed within the past couple of weeks receive a "thank you for visiting"-type e-mail from TCMC today? The subject of the e-mail was "TCMC Application Status Update," which of course made me stop breathing considering that the next notification date is tomorrow. However, the e-mail basically said that I could contact admissions with further questions and that my app will be forwarded to the admissions committee. It didn't say anything about an admissions decision, and it didn't say anything about a deferral. Guess this definitely means I won't be hearing tomorrow.

I received that same email today as well. I interviewed last week, so I won't be hearing back until April 5th. Whether or not you hear back from them tomorrow depends on how early in February (or late January) you interviewed.

Not getting that email. When did you interview?
