do people think its okay if I am smiling in my picture? It says neutral expression, but this is the picture I have sent to every other school (pretty professional looking) and I really don't want to take another one.
I don't think it's that big of a deal. In the picture I submitted, I had kind of a smirk on my face and it wasn't a problem. Although I haven't heard anything back yet 😛

I definitely smiled in mine. Didn't count against me I don't think.... (Accepted in Oct.)😀

Got an interview invite last week. I went online to schedule an interview date. It says no dates are available. I tried to call the admission office, no one picked up.

Anyone else have trouble scheduling the interview?

When were you complete?

I had the same face as I did in my avatar. 🙂

They heard back in April.

Same, and I'm pretty sure we've been rejected. They do silent rejections and the waiting over two months isn't common with davis

Is it bad if I spoke with an admissions guy in early aug and he just told me to be patient?!??? I feel like if I email him again I'd be nagging...

Hey everyone. I was wondering if you folks could share how long it took Davis to update your recommendation letter status from the time of your secondary request or submission. I received my secondary request in mid-October and submitted it a little more than a week later. However, they haven't received my letters yet. I'm a bit concerned because their website says that I have about a week to get those in. My other schools didn't usually take this long to download my recommendations.

I would follow their advice. They deal with so many questions and applications. In any case you'd probably get the same response from anyone you spoke with.

I would say it took about 7-10 days for mine.

No response from the UC Davis 🙁...turned in my secondary on 9/5 and not a word. It feels like a silent rejection.

Anybody receive any post-interview news recently? Davis has been quiet for a while now...

I was ACCEPTED on 11/2 and interviewed 10/26
Oh wow congrats.

My heart just sank though, Davis has been my only interview so far and I interviewed 10/19. I think I should start gearing up for an MCAT retake and reapplying at this point.

I was told that we would hear back around Thanksgiving. Hoping for some good news soon....

Oops maybe that was just for my interview group then. Sorry for the misinformation !

Does anyone know if UC Davis is receptive to update letters if placed on hold?

I haven't heard a thing from Davis since I became complete in mid-September. Does anyone know what the difference between no word and being placed on hold is?

Rejected post interview via email. Good luck to people still in the running.

This applies to me too...if any current students want to come out of the woodwork and say they got an interview invite late after being complete in September (and got accepted!), now would be an excellent/reassuring time! 🙂

I've heard that UCD does silent rejections so it's likely that people like us are out of the running. Keep your hope up, but be realistic with UCD. 🙁

I got an acceptance call today after interviewing on 11/9. For those who submitted in September and are still waiting, keep your heads up. The host I stayed with submitted in September and only interviewed in March but it all worked out for him. Good luck to all of you.

Wow I thought there would be no news until January (must have misheard during interview day). Got an acceptance call today! I didn't know Davis did personalized revisits!

I was placed on a pre-interview hold and attempted, very recently, to send an update letter; admissions sent a very kind response letting me know that they do not accept updates unless the update is specifically requested. She quoted this text in her email, which can be found in the UC Davis primary application acknowledgement:

"The Admissions Committee asks that you not send any new information, transcripts, letters of recommendation, updates, or materials unless requested by them."

Sigh.

Here's to a little bit of luck for the both of us,
MB

Reading through this thread and last year's, it seems that if one does not receive an acceptance on the same (early) day as the initial wave for a certain interview date, then one is doomed to a waitlist/rejection 4+ weeks later.

Anyone have an experience that breaks that assumption and gives me hope?

Got waitlisted about two weeks after the first acceptance date (interviewed late August). So... ruh roh!

For those of you who got II and acceptances, will you have all prereqs done by January?

I'm pretty sure MedicalAuthor didn't finish all his pre-reqs and he has an acceptance.

Randomly signed on and randomly saw this.

But yeah, my last pre-req (bio lab) I'm finishing now. Final's in 9 days, as a matter of fact.

*retreats back into cave*

But you'll have your prereq done by January, I'm talking about not having your prereqs done AND not being able to complete them until spring semester.

Since I won't be able to do stats until spring I feel I may be rejected by default

I got an II and won't have my prereqs done until June.

In addition, did anyone who hasn't taken stats that has an interview mention on their amcas that they were going to take stats?

Has anyone who was placed on the interview wait-list heard anything from UCD?

I know they said that they'd review our files again in January, but was wondering if anyone has had any updates regarding this.

Good luck to those of you interviewing and to those that were accepted! Quite the arduous process this is.

😎

My only correspondence with Davis (in summation) after receiving a position on the interview wait-list:

Me: Tried sending Davis an update.
Davis: Updates can only be received if the Admissions Committee asks for them directly.
Me: *Face palm*
Davis: It's okay. You're not the only one.

Other than the brief email exchange described above, I have no new news. Perhaps another one of us wait-listers can shed some light on this dark corner of will-I-get-an-interview-invite madness?
