Can anyone who has interviewed already give more info about the meeting with the Dean? Some posts from the interview feedback page say that it's more like a group interview, and he also asks questions about healthcare in the US and in other countries??

I didn't have the Dean that normally does the "meeting with the Dean" session, but mine was casual. There were about 6 people or so in the group, and it's just a chit chat. We were asked to tell a little about ourselves and then the dean opened it up to questions we have about Davis. Very laid back!

On the Davis application status page, does "Secondary Application Status:" ever change from "complete?" E.g. to "under review," etc? My status shows as completed since 8/17 but no change... While I continue to pray to the medical school gods for an interview, hope is sadly dissipating. Thanks!

Nope. Mine still says completed. I wouldn't check your status page--Davis sends emails.

Thanks. I'm so tempted to email/call Davis to see if I'm still under consideration (even though it states quite clearly in the FAQ that the "staff has access to the same information you see on the portal and is unable to provide you with additional information about the status of your application"). UGH.

is davis transparent about when the adcom meets? anyone know the next time?

Nope! But I'm guessing a number of people will start hearing back in the next few weeks about interview waitlist spots, if this year is anything like lasts. Good luck!

Do you mean to interview for a waitlist spot? Or do you mean those with interview waitlist status will hear soon?

I submitted my application in early august and got the application complete email so i thought everything was set with my application and didn't worry about it. Today I decide to log on to see if maybe there was some status that I never got emailed about and it said they hadn't received my letters of recommendation! I called the school and the secretary put me on hold for 2 min and came back and said the system had made an error but that they had them but hadn't submitted my application for consideration yet!!!! 5 months later and I am sure almost every interview spot is filled! I hate learning lessons the hard way! To anyone applying next year: check your status page!

Secondary Submitted 12/11 (that's right, twelve eleven, I live life on the edge)
II: 01/04 (today!)

However, I found out about their stringent pre-req policy far too late and am just now taking my last 4 units of English. I had AP credit for English comp and English lit and took one 'official' English class at UC; all other pre-reqs are met, just need that one last official English class. I took a bunch of upper-division History classes which involved a lot of reading and writing; anyone think they would consider accepting one of those classes in place of English? I'll give em a call later on to get an official answer. If not, c'est la vie!

damn congrats, i've been complete since august...no word yet. here's to hoping..:luck:

sooooo...davis DOES do pre-interview, post-secondary rejections (as early as 1-2 months after submission). perhaps no discussion on sdn, but just discovered this to be the case. tbh, at this point i wish they would just throw me into that category. yuck to waiting.

I interviewed on 10/12 and was put on the waitlist on 11/5. I called today to ask if they accept letters of interest, but the lady said, "No, we don't".

Hmmm... should I take her word for it, or go ahead and send one anyway (like a true die-hard premed who'll leave no stone unturned to get into a school)?

If they said no and they know your amcas. I wouldn't do it.

I had the dean and a group of 5 people total. He asked each of us a few questions about ourselves (he had our files I think... since he knew about my volunteering) and had us ask questions, but then he went off on a tangent that answered no one's questions. Lol. Sadly, I enjoyed my day at Davis until this part. A few things about the Dean session rubbed me the wrong way and it got worse on the tour when one of the students leading us said, "I can't believe you roped me into this" in front of the whole tour group. She then proceeded to be curt with us whenever we asked questions.

So, for those and several more reasons, I'm withdrawing my spot from Davis today. No need to hold it if I know I won't go! Good luck to the rest of you! :luck:

In addition, did anyone who hasn't taken stats that has an interview mention on their amcas that they were going to take stats?

I did not take stats and did not plan on taking it either. But I have a degree in math, so maybe that counted enough.

Our meeting with the Dean session was pretty casual although you have to keep in mind that he likely gives feedback about each person since it is the interview day. But there were five of us and he went around 1 by 1 and asked where we are from, what we studied, and what was one thing that interested us about Davis. I had read in other posts in this thread that people spoke for 5-10 minutes about something, but I was first to be asked and I didn't get the sense that we were supposed to speak for a long time. I spoke for no more than a minute (I was asked first so it was hard to know what the standard would be), but the four others also spoke the same length (so perhaps I set the bar 😎). Our session was the last of the day so that may have played a role versus a morning session when everyone would be so tired. But then he asked only 1 or 2 follow up questions about what we said, and then segued into how Davis was involved, whether a little or a lot, in the activities each of us discussed. He was a nice guy, who appeared to know a lot about many things as he had something informed to say about each person's response. Of the whole day, I would not worry about this aspect of it, although as I said I assume it matters so don't take it for granted. But be yourself and youll be fine. for what its worth, I thought the MMI was far more stressful. But everyone was very friendly and helpful, whether it was during lunch with students, staff we met, our 4th year-guided tour or whenever, and I got a great insight into the quality and characteristic of students there. I found the day valuable.

Anyone hearing back regarding the "interview waitlist" situation that some of us are experiencing? They said we'd start hearing in January...

Did you get an email telling you that you're on the interview waitlist? I've been complete since Sept. and it's still nothing but silence here...😕

Anyone has received an interview from the pre-interview hold yet?

Accepted today via phone call!!!! First acceptance, and I'm so grateful and excited for this opportunity. Interviewed 12/14.

congrats, i interviewed earlier .... way earlier... still no news =[

Davis is known to silently reject. 👎

ugh why can't they just send rejection letters? i sent them something the other day and was told they don't accept updates, etc.. saves everyone time to send out the rejections IMO

Interviewed 11/30; IS; waitlisted by email today :-/

good luck everyone

Haha, they must have read my previous post.

Rejected by email. Complete in July. IS. I appreciate the follow-up though. Bye bye!

Finally rejected! Glad to have some closure

And there goes my hopes to stay in CA.

Rejected. C: 9/18

Rejected IS Compelte August. Knew it was a silent reject and now it's a loud one...

Interestingly enough, the email was "generated" on 12/26...

First post-interview rejection. 🙁 Interviewed 12/14

Seems like they are clearing their desk of us... The new Massively Multi Online Student Rejection Game? MMOSRG?

Rejected. Didn't want you anyways, Davis! 😛

For all of you guys being rejected today, were you on the "interview waitlist"?? Or is this just a post-secondary rejection?

Post Sec, no waitlist. Just silence until now. (4-5 months)

I interviewed in November and just heard back that I was rejected : ( I felt my MMI interview went pretty terrible, so not entirely unexpected but still incredibly disappointing.
