Has anyone from February interviews received an acceptance yet???

I interviewed in early February and heard back towards the middle/end of February. If you also interviewed in February then you should hang in there, if you haven't heard anything yet.

Thanks for the response! And yes, I am still hanging in there! Hopefully this week is a good one 😉 Thanks!

I think so, because people from March interviews have been accepted already.

wait which interview date in March? How do you know - I haven't seen any march interviewees post acceptances? (unless I missed them)

I bet final outright acceptances go out this week...

What is the best time to call the Admissions office? Everytime I've called for the past three weeks, it's gone to voicemail. Email seems to have become increasingly nonresponsive as well.

I used to call around 12 or 1 and they used to answer but for the past couple of weeks I haven't been able to get them on the phone. I left a message but I haven't heard back. Same with the emails. I think they've been swamped with calls and emails so they haven't been able to get back to everyone. I think you just have to be somewhat lucky hahaha

Are there any current UCR Haider medical students in this forum? I had a question regarding "required" textbooks. Thanks!

As far as required textbooks go there are only a few that are actually useful.

I think it is safe to say that no acceptance by email today = waitlist or rejection since the RSVP date for 2nd look is today.

Also I interviewed the last day and was told if accepted, we would find out this week.

Thanks for the input. I just received the list yesterday and there were 7 required for block 1 alone. I'm trying to look for online copies.

One reason we may not have heard anything is because a lot of them are on break (or the ones I spoke to said they'd be on break this week). Does anyone know of anyone accepted today or this week?

+1, I also would like to know if any acceptances have been given out this week, or if they have already hit their quota for 100 already

I'm not sure how accurate of an estimate this is, but the UCR class of 2017 facebook page currently has 24 members.

So has anyone been accepted in the past few weeks?
Has anyone been accepted after interviewing in March?
This thread has been quiet...

+1 I would like to know as well
And for those who went to second look, how was it and how big was the turnout? Did they mention how many more they were thinking of accepting?

Is anyone else still waiting to hear back regarding any decision? I haven't heard anything since interviewing in feb and was wondering if others were in the same boat :/

Yep, I am. I think they said those who don't receive a reply in a month are automatically on their wait list.

Any UCR alumni here? I have a question about course classification pertaining to learning communities.
Thanks!

Waitlisted by email today.

I interviewed on the last interview day.

I am not surprised due to the fact that I was totally screwed by the "actor" in one of the stations... it was a VERY terrible station and probably sunk me. I really did well on the other stations but the guy I had was so unbelievable that it was awkward and reminded me of a bad acting scene in acting class... lots of others on my interview day felt the same. And I actually wrote a long essay about this on their feedback questionnaire that day.. I hope they nix him and/or the station entirely for future years. I even asked the guy if he is an actor OR affiliated with the med school and he said no to both.. it was quite puzzling as to why he was chosen for that role that day.

It's all good. The email says only a handful will get off the waitlist and that it's unranked. My guess is that those who send in LOIs have a much better shot... I won't be sending one in. UCR would have been a nice option but I am pretty dead-set on another school.

Congrats!!

It's such a small class size, I wonder how many will get off the wait list, and how large the wait list actually is - Does it include most, if not all, the interviewees? or just a fraction?

Also, I don't know how accurate this is at the point of a waitlist, but I spoke to someone from the admissions office (not Margie) and they said they don't actually like (want?) LOI's. Their opinion was that going to the interview serves as the notion that you are obviously interested in attending the school. They do accept and review update letters though.

Not trying to discourage anyone from writing one an LOI - it's all up to personal choice. I just don't know how much weight they actually place on it

Waitlisted as well. I am wondering... do you think they actually made a waitlist with applicants they would consider... or just threw in everyone who interviewed who didnt get an acceptance. Since they interviwed a couple hundred for what is essentially 25 spots (when including non-UCR grads), that sounds like a lot of applications to review. But it doesnt seem like anyone has been rejected post interview either...

DId anyone else hear back today?

I bet they WL everyone else. On my interview day they said 216 were interviewed and they will grant 100 acceptances for 50 spots. This is why I'm thinking WL'ers won't have that great of a chance because they already accept 100 outright, leaving the other 100 on a WL, which makes sense just in case something happens with the first batch(es) of acceptees.

So if a school says that they accept 100 students, does that mean 100 acceptances, and then more acceptances off the waitlist, as you mentioned, or do they mean ~50 accepted first, then the rest from the waitlist?

Btw, I sent in a LOI saying that I would really like to attend and what not. Got an email a few days later abt being rejected post interview. Not sure if I did something that I wasn't supposed to, or if they felt that I wasn't a good fit.

Good luck to everyone else!

Thats unfortunate, sorry to hear that.

Did you ever get the waitlist email?

I sent in an LOI as well, saying I would like to attend and stuff. Also got rejected post-interview recently. Maybe they really don't like LOIs? 😕

I was going to write them a new one today...maybe I wont..

I don't remember if I got a WL email. To the person that is rethinking about writing a LOI, it could be that I wasn't seen as a good fit for the school and they were being "nice" to let me know that I shouldn't get my hopes up. If this is true and this is also the case for you, it might be better to write an LOI just to get an immediate decision. All speculation though.

Hmm... this is all very confusing. I was under the impression that they were not going to reject anyone who interviewed but just waitlist them all. But now it seems that people have in fact been getting post interview rejections. So it seems that they have in fact put certain people on the waitlist instead of it being a simple pile of "everyone else who interviewed". Hoping this is the case. Sigh... so hard to make a final decision when you are still in limbo at some schools.

WL here as well, and considering drafting an LOI but already sent an update/LOI-ish a few weeks ago. I'm wondering how many spots they'll take off the WL

Same here, I sent a Letter of Intent and they rejected me as well... that's pretty interesting though.. maybe they really don't like LOIs? or they just rejected us now so that we can look into other options? Anyone not send an LOI and get rejected?

I sent one mid march, no rejection.

When did you guys send your letters?

That is interesting. Well good luck elsewhere!!

Around the same time I think... It might be that they just wanted to let us know because we may have been really low on their list? I don't really know

And thanks Juan!

hmm that's interesting and sorry to hear that! yeah that is a good question if anyone rejected didn't write them a letter?

I just withdrew from here. I wish you all the best in your future endeavors. Congrats to those who have been accepted! Good luck to those waiting on the wait list!

I just withdrew from here as well. Good luck, everyone waiting! I hope my spot goes to someone here!

Glad to see there is some hope for us waitlist people. Thanks for the heads up and good luck!

Fingers crossed for us waitlisted! Congrats to those who've been accepted!

Been real quiet here these past couple weeks...

Anyone get accepted post-May 15?
Also... can anyone who attended second look back in April chime in on any extra info that might have been given out?

Am contemplating sending an LOI/update letter but I'm a bit scared to do so.. hmmm

They said there were a couple of seats left, but that was before some have withdrew their acceptances. I'm not sure how many have withdrawn, but I've seen a couple on SDN who have. The facebook page also has current MS1 and MS2 students, so I'm not sure on the exact number of incoming students. Certainly there will be movement on the wait list since the May 15th deadline has passed, but the extent of that is unknown. If it were me, I would send an update/LOI asap. I don't see how that would hurt any chances, but that's my opinion. Good luck!

Has anyone heard about how many people are on the waitlist, etc. Starting to reapply and just wondering what the chances are of coming off the waitlist. Thoughts anyone?

I haven't heard anything... have you tried calling the admissions office?

I can't ever seem to reach the admissions committee. I have tried calling margie and emailing her. I just want to know where's the best place to send in an update letter, if they aren't really too responsive by email. Any SDNers can answer for me?

I emailed and someone named Tammy responded. She advised the letter be sent in to the main admissions office email address. She also responded when it was received and uploaded to the file.
