OOS and on post interview hold.. I don't know if anyone else is in the same situation...
Opiperlou, did Ms. Osborne say that they over admit and have significant movement on the hold list or the wait list?

Nothing yet...I've been checking my email like a mad man today!!! (Interviewed the morning of the 11th)

yea the waiting is horrible. Not sure who they might have reviewed or what time they normally email - didn't get a good idea from past threads but hoping it's sooner than later

Im hopin someone gets accepted and posts it on here so we know the ball is rolling !

Agreed. Looks extremely varied from what I've been reading. Guess we can only wait and see...

The University of Louisville Admissions Committee has not made a decision on your file. Your file has not been wait listed or placed on hold and therefore, will be made available to the Committee at subsequent meetings.

Ugh - well not sure if that means they reviewed it and decided to hold off or if they didn't get to it. I'm guessing there's no way to be sure.

I got the exact same email and am wondering the same thing as you.

I got the same email as you. It just means that they didn't get to review our files at all, so were not placed on hold or anything. The committee wont meet again until November 13th, so that means we will not find out until November 14th.....

Time to sit and wait.

Well I called and I got what I thought was a promising answer. If we got that message it means they simply haven't got to your app yet. She said there's a big backlog most of the time after oct 15 and that people who interviewed before me may not have even heard yet. I interviewed 10-11. If they did review we'd get a hold, waitlist, accepted, denied kind of response. The whole staff is really nice and seem to be on top of it so I read that as a positive but obviously we are still tortured by the wait.

Well, you just made me feel about 500 times better. Thank you for the clarification!

I replied directly to the interview invite email with my preferred dates instead of composing a fresh email, is that ok?

I thought they were the same thing?

Total admissions data 2179 applied, 369 interviewed, 247 were accepted, 148 enrolled

This is interesting. Do they over-accept, i.e. accept more than 148 at a time knowing x% will not enroll or they just send acceptance to 148 (their max enrollment) and then as accepted applicants write them they s/he will not be accepting their offer, they send offer to next line... I hope it makes some sense what I said.

To put another way, they overbook like airlines and hoping a bunch of applicants will drop out in May or before the session starts.

Thanks,

Nah, I don't think it is.. I think hold is the stage before the wait list.
I'm still very hopeful though. U of L is my first choice!
Again, congrats to those of you who have been accepted!

No idea but this is how I have heard most schools do it: they have an idea of their typical yield (matriculants divided by offered acceptances) from past years. They offer enough acceptances to produce the desired class size and if they end up with a higher yield, ultimate class size is higher than they expected. If they end up with a lower yield, they offer spots off the wait list until the desired class size is reached.

At my interview in September Pamela said they do initially over-accept the class. She also said they expect to have significant movement off the wait list, especially in May when the seat deposit refund deadline approaches.

Oh, okay, so a hold would mean further review is needed by the committee, waiting for scores, etc., right? I believe Pamela was referring to the wait list when she talked about there being a lot of movement when the May 15th seat deposit refund deadline approaches. Someone posted earlier that around 250 acceptance go out throughout the year for about 150 spots. And I believe I also read in previous years of Louisville threads that the top third of the wait list usually gets accepted.

I got put on hold too. Sitting and waiting is killing me! Anyone else on the same boat? Interviewed 9/27

Did anyone else on here interview with Dr. Ellis (a biochem professor)? Just wondering, bc now that I have my acceptance I feel comfortable enough to complain that he was a pain in the butt! He gave me such a hard time it put me in a bad mood for a week!

Yeah, I think you're spot on. Hold candidates may be put back into active consideration throughout the year, or they'll be evaluated in March for the wait list.
I also do think that the top 1/3 of the In-State wait list usually gets accepted.

I'm just not sure about the OOS wait list--which I would hopefully be a part of--and how much movement there is on that... Would anyone know the answer to this question? How much movement is usually seen in the OOS wait list?

Dr. Ellis does stress interviews. I have had him in a cancer class and he was a cool professor.

Did anyone else who interviewed on 10/16 hear anything?

If I interviewed at the end of August, but have received the "no decision" status update emails, what do we think my chances are of hearing something by the end of December? Really crossing my fingers for UofL, so many clinical opportunities!!!

I got the "no decision" and your "file hasn't been reviewed yet" email - not too sure what that means.

he's a sweetheart all right...

I'm In-state. But yea I got put on "hold"...not the no decision email...ugh, I wish they would move faster... :-/ when do you think they start considering hold candidates again? And do you all think a hold is better than waitlist? And have they even waitlisted anyone yet?

If I remember correctly, they may wait until the next committee meeting to decide on someone they put on hold or wait until later in the cycle.

Yes, I did read the information packet. I was not being literal in what I said. I get what the email meant - it just left my mind to imagine the best (they just didn't get to my application yet) and worst (they got to my application and couldn't come to a consensus) scenarios.

Got the same email. Felt the same way. 🙂

Hey guys, I'm going to visit Louisville in two weeks to get a better feel for the city and check out some different areas of town that I could potentially live in. Does anybody have any suggestions for safe/affordable places that would be good for a medical student? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Anyone who interviewed on 10/11 heard anything yet? I thought (hoped) they hadn't gotten to those of us from that date during the last committee meeting, but I read on here that someone from the 10/16 interviews got accepted. Curious

I would suggest the bardstown RD, Eastern Pkwy, Highlands area for safety and things to do (~10 min. drive). If you want a nice place near the school I hear the Crescent Centre apt.'s are nice.

Great! I'll be sure to check out those areas.

Thanks!

Also, under the housing tab on Blackboard it lists the Bellamy apt's; the Bellamy and the Province are nice places but they aren't in nice areas of town.

I was wondering the same thing. I was hoping since the guy who interviewed 10/16 was OOS had some thing to do with it though.

I interviewed on the 16th also and there were only 8 of us - I got the email saying that no decision had been made, so I'm on the same page as you in hoping they just hadn't gotten to our files yet. But the one guy getting accepted from the 16th kind of dampened those hopes.

Just got an II!! IS complete first week of September

True. I interviewed 10/11, but if they hadn't wanted us or something like that I'm sure we would have at least gotten placed on hold. This means they at least just didn't get to our files. All we can do is wait 2 weeks and 1 day until the next round of acceptances!!!
