Don't worry guys, they space out the rejections over a few days. Plenty more disappointment to go around!

Anyone has any idea when we'll see some WL movement? Comparing to the thread from last year, it seems that everything is delayed somehow this year.

Rejected half an hour ago. My stats for posterity were a 3.8 and a 36, and I had my best interviews here. I am just completely dumbfounded right now, I thought this school was a sure thing.
been following this forum (and your posts) and my heart sank when i read this. UMass really knows how to kick you where it hurts huh? 🙁

Just randomly dropped in this thread and didnt apply here but I'm in a similar situation at OHSU where I've been waiting 6 months for a decision and will be very sad if I've waited for a rejection this whole time. Sorry for those of you who waited so long to not get in. I don't know why some schools have such bizarre admission systems...

Just got rejected. Interviewed mid-November. 3.8/36 in case anyone was wondering. Best of luck to those of you on the waitlist and congrats to those accepted!

Rejected, 3.8 roughly 7 years working in the medical field, thousands of hours volunteer experience. This is aweful, recently lost my wife to cancer and laid off from work, now this. Anyone have any idea why they were rejected?

I'm sorry to hear - none of our disappointments compares to what you've been through this year.

I was told by a MS1 a few months ago that UMass especially likes international experiences, long-term service activities, and is more selective on people from eastern Mass... GPA/MCAT help you get an interview, but is not weighted as highly as others schools for the ultimate decision. Being a white male probably doesn't help either. Are you any of these?

Rejected today as well. 3.7/33S, good EC's and multiple publications. Thought this was my best interview too. UMass confuses the hell out of me.

That's terrible man. My heart goes out to you. Stay strong, and chin up. Life is full of ups and downs and remember for every valley there's a peak. You may be in the valley now, but the peak is there waiting for you.

Thanks guys. I have a lot of long term volunteer experience, and am a male from western mass. I took the mcat twice but the second time the score dropped due extenuating circumstances with my wife at the time.

Rejected as well...3.8 32.

To all those wondering why, something tells me UMASS might have liked if we wrote letters of interest. They are rising in the rankings so maybe they are starting to focus on improving their attrition rate ? I dunno.

Anyone know if UMass is on a similar schedule as last year? If so we MAY see some wait list movement this week. (last year the first person to report on sdn that they were accepted off the wait list was May 9th...) :xf:

Accepted from the waitlist this morning:
34/ 3.72
Interviewed 10/3
Waitlisted 4/3

II 3/6
WL 4/4

Just got accepted off the WL today. Don't give up!

Congrats, guys! And thanks for posting, so we can have some data. Looks like WL movement just began, and the WL dates roughly correlate to priorities? Finger crossed! :xf:

thats what it seems like. the earlier they send you a waitlist, the higher ranked you are on their ladder. good luck!

during my interview, the director of admissions repeated several times that acceptance was an entire committee decision (not just solely based on the two faculty assigned to your application or the faculty that interview you). really glad i sent thank you letters to everyone i met, i think it helped a bit : )

Ok, according to people who have posted in this thread, here's all the WL data:

Wait-listed:
4 on 4/3 (Wed) - hippotipper, ajs08029, dannyw, doctorinmaking
1 on 4/4 (Thur) - the saucer
2 on 4/8 (Mon) - lilac roller and myself
2 on 4/17 (Wed) - sunnyfricassee and smallone (smallone posted on 4/23, saying that he/she called "last week" and found out about WL. so i assume WL roughly around 4/17)

Acceptance off WL:
2 on 5/6 - hippotipper and the saucer (6 people added on facebook though)

Here's hope we'll hear more good news later this week! GL everyone! 🙂

Congrats to those who've been accepted! I hope you're choosing UMass and we'll meet you in just a few months at MOE 🙂

Do the current students have any recommendations on books we'd need for first year? I'm thinking it might be cheaper to get them on amazon etc than through school. Thanks!

It's definitely cheaper to get them from upperclassmen or from Amazon, BUT...I would not buy any books. You will have second years who can virtually give them to you for free (hint hint), plus...most people don't use them 🙂

current students: do you guys have any recommendations for housing? i wasn't able to attend second look week.

Most people wont use textbooks for at least the beginning of the first year. The only book you'll definitely need is an anatomy atlas. Buy an older edition for cheap. I wouldn't necessarily strongly recommend any other textbooks for the first year. Plus, many books you may need, such as physiology texts, are available online as ebooks through the library.

If your UMass email is set up, you can contact the office of student affairs and ask for access to the roommate spreadsheet. The spreadsheet is shared among current students and incoming first-years to connect people who have rooms, people who are looking for rooms, and people who want to form groups to apartment-hunt together.

I have a lot of opinions about housing here! Haha. Feel free to PM me if you have specific questions or want a general overview.

Silly question: after we accept the admission on the website and pay the $100, do we get any sort of confirmation for that? (Besides the reference number for the fee) Somehow it's making me nervous when I don't see an email confirming that I accepted the admission correctly...

I'm in..I'm in.....I'M IN!!!!!!!

I 9/25 W 4/17 A 5/23

yessssss! Good luck everybody!

Accepted earlier today. II: 9/19. WL:4/3. GPA 3.96 sGPA 4. MCAT 32Q. Good luck to those still on the waitlist. Don't lose hope.

Hi Guys,

Congratulations to those of you who were accepted! I'm still waiting here, II 12/18 WL 4/8. Do you think more movement will occur into next week? I would LOVE to go here, it seems like such an awesome school

i think theres about 20+ spots left. at least according to how many people have joined on fb

I'm sure there are still spots left. They extend offers throughout the summer so there's bound to be more waitlist movement to come. I recommend sending update and interest letters. Shows why you want to go there.

Did anyone else have their admitted check mark turn back to the completed circle in the website? I'm having a paranoid moment here...
:scared:
