I had heard from a UPenn med student that interviews had ended and sent them an e-mail asking to withdraw my application last Friday before they had the chance to reject me themselves.

So technically I rejected them first! Shallow victory but a victory nonetheless.

(I already have two acceptances so I'm not sad.)

I never even submitted a secondary and they sent me a rejection. Guess they really like to rub it in.

Could someone please post the dates of the Penn Preview weekend? Just trying to plan for potential travel, not trying to be presumptuous... thanks!

Sorry I'm late to the party. Reeeejected. First rejection of the cycle, and from my top choice no less. But for the oddly written status change email and the curt rejection notice (yes, I like to be coddled like UCSF and Harvard do it), it didn't really sting. Life, it goes on.

Hey Guys, it would be amazing if someone could comment on this. But I am an URM and got an email from Penn wishing me a happy new year. And in the email it says "We hope to see you at Penn Preview in the spring."

Did any other URM people who interviewed get this email? am I just reading into it?

Thank you for your response! I thought so too...but part of me just wanted to believe haha

Just FYI

Interviews are officially over. They sent emails to "interviewed applicants" this morning saying they have ended the interview phase and are now in the selection process so they can release decisions March 15.

Good luck at your other schools or at Penn if you're waiting for March 15th! :luck:

oops... posted at same time as obviouslyteal. sorry.

Just for the record (ha), everyone just got that email from admissions about how decisions will come out by March 15 and that they'll be sending us three e-mails between now and then to keep us "connected" to Perelman?

Even though I know decisions are over a month away, I still get a little antsy when I see an email from them!

Yup, I got that too. Definitely had a little heart pounding when I saw the email from them, even though I knew it couldn't contain a decision haha.

I also got it!!! Haha

I apologize if this has been answered, but when it says that all decisions are announced by March 15th, does that mean we can start hearing as early as March 1st?

Probably not. Based on last year's thread, it seems like everyone heard on the same day.

Penn seriously needs to stop sending these emails!! Even though they warned us they would be coming, my heart leaps out of my chest every time I get notified of one on three devices simultaneously :scared:

Agreed!! I got really excited for a second then realized it wasn't march 15 yet...

Another day, another email from Penn that has nothing to do with decisions.

Sigh. Well at least this time my stomach only dropped two inches, as opposed to a foot...

pretty smart/strategic of them to email us once a week about how awesome penn is...

That feeling I get when this thread is bumped and I reflexively check it:

I just got one this morning. Argg. March 15th is too far away. :bang:

Lol yeah, we're being conditioned not to react when Penn emails us.

At least this year they told us exactly when decisions will be released. The applicants last year didn't seem to have this information (I think).

Quick question for current students: is there any sort of laptop requirement/do students need to bring laptops with them? I'll be bringing a desktop with me wherever I go, and I've heard that Perelman students get iPads. So...would a laptop be overkill, or do I still need one? Thanks in advance.

Has everyone filled out the need access from penn? Man, they ask such specific questions.

Not to keep coming back to this but...is there a laptop requirement? Would it be useful to have one at Perelman in add'n to an iPad/desktop?

No requirement, however, while many, if not most, people get along just fine throughout the school day with just their iPads, it is by no mean's a replacement for an actual computer. I can certainly see being fine with just an iPad/desktop though.

Might be wrong, but financial aid soft deadline seems to be April 9th per this link:
http://www.med.upenn.edu/financialaid/howtoapply.shtml

Interesting. I heard April 8 from someone I spoke to in the financial aid office. I'm sure the published timeline is probably the correct one though..

and yeah, the need access form is a beast compared to the fafsa, but it seems like it'll probably be helpful, since it accounts for a lot of situations that the fafsa doesn't cover.

Help me Perelman. You're my only hope. (riding a rejection train right now)

These next 10 days will be the most stressful 10 days ever 😱

The activity on this thread is like the calm before the storm....Good luck everyone!

Good luck to you all. I went through this hell last year. We were not sure of the date either.

does anyone know if they call, e-mail or status update?

Looks like last year people got emails with a link to the status page (for all decisions). Unclear if the status page was updated any earlier than the emails were sent.

No, it says by March 15th. Same as last year and last year they were released Wednesday the 14th.

Wow, thanks for pointing that out. I didn't notice that.

I hope I can still get something done between Wednesday and Friday!

Almost positive they wrote and told us the 15th.

Their email just says by the 15th.

The 2013 admissions process continues and we have entered a new phase.
The interview program has ended and selection has begun with the goal of
announcing our decisions by March 15. In order to feel connected to
Penn/Perelman while waiting for these final decisions we will send you
three e-mails in the coming weeks on important topics:
