I have lived in Rochester my entire life and I will tell you that we do get a lot of snow. Besides last year's freak winter where we only got around 50 inches, we usually end up with 150+ inches. I can't speak about classes though, as I am not yet a student here. Hoping to be though!

This is why I'd love it there. haha

You don't get to choose which LOR you want them to read?

Interviewing tomorrow, super nervous. This is my top choice. :scared:

Any advice/tips guys? It's my third interview, so I had some practice from doing the others, but I haven't really "prepped" otherwise.

Your in the same position I am with regards to the other interviews. At this point, as long as you know your application inside and out, know a little bit about healthcare, and can use common sense for ethical questions, all you can do is work on what you want your answers to say about you.

I found I myself rambled a bit during some interviews so I worked to cut out the fluff and keep succinct but yet still informative responses.

Well described! I definitely need to work on my presenting my answers though. I rambled a lot today and went on tangents. I didn't feel great about my interview at Rochester as a result. >.<

I have two more coming up this week though, so hoping to develop my answers better.

Ok, so I submitted my responses to the essay questions, but the submit button is still there, and I can submit my answers again. How do I know if my submission went through? Anyone else have this problem?

There are no essays...

how many interviews are there and what type of interviews are they. is it just two one on one interviews or is there a group interview? thanks

Anyone writing LOI to Rochester? I have been complete since mid-July and have stats well above their matriculate average, but haven't heard a peep. 🙁

good but lots of waiting...hoping to get out of a hold at Pritzker! How about you? I'm rooting for you and Mayo!!!

also...if i remember correctly you're one of the few (or so it seems) fellow female SDNers?

I am doing well! I've long given up on Mayo, application seems to have been a tad late. I'm not too worried about it though, Mayo's a tough cookie to crack. Wish ya the best at Pritzker. If I could I'd list you as a significant other and we could share 'ties' if my interview gains me entry, but I think they'd catch on. 😉

Given that, yes, I am the female counterpart! Haha

I sent one about three weeks ago but haven't heard anything--granted my stats are much lower than the average. I don't think it hurts to try though 🙂

How long was your LOI? Did you send it via snail or email? I'm thinking of sending one too! Thanks for the info.

It was a page, but that was after I decreased the margins to make it fit (which you DON'T want to do. Keep your margins at 1"). I sent a signed pdf copy via email. It was also my first letter of interest, and I realize now that it didn't look as professional as it could have. Maybe you already know this, but for those who don't, make sure you follow this format:

Name
Address

Date

School Name
Office of Admissions
Address (of admissions building)

Dear Admissions Committee:

Paragraph 1

Paragraph 2

Paragraph n

Sincerely/etc,
(3-4 return spaces for signature)
Name
AMCAS ID

Good luck 🙂

Great, thanks for all this info.

Basically was the contents of your letter like?:

Par1
My name is ___, I am very interested in your program and feel that your missions/values/etc your school offers fits with my career interests in medicine.

Par2
Mission/values/etc 1 fits with me because...

Par 3
Mission/values/etc 2 fits with me because...

I like to thank the committee for the continued consideration of my application. I look forward to hearing you shortly/soon.

Yea, pretty much. Of course no two letters are going to sound exactly the same, but you have the right idea. But I think what can also help is not just to talk about why they're a perfect fit, but why YOU're a perfect fit. What unique skills/experiences/ideas/etc can you bring to the school to make a positive impact and/or contribute to its goals/mission/etc?

I agree. Especially with the fact that Rochester's secondary was so short! Definitely a good way to express other dimensions about your qualities/attributes.

Hey guys! I interviewed at Rochester on 9/17 and had a quick question about thank you notes.

So the evening following my interview I sent a thank you email to both my interviewers. HOWEVER, I remember the admissions office giving us addresses of our interviewers if we wanted to send thank you cards.

My interviewers haven't replied back or acknowledged receiving my thank you emails. And now I am wondering whether or not I should send a thank you card also.

Would it be redundant to send thank you letters via snail mail since I emailed them already? Or does it look bad that I didn't send a physical thank you note, but only emails?

Ahh, I feel like I blew the interview, but I loved the school a lot. Any advice appreciated.

I rarely get replies to thank you emails. I wouldn't worry about it!

Hey zeppelin. I haven't interviewed or have an interview at Rochester. But I saw your post and thought I'd offer my opinion based on my other interviews. After each I email my interviewers and tell them thank you. I think out of maybe 10 interviewers who I've emailed thus far, I've gotten 5 responses. Usually at each school 1 out of 2 or 3 interviewers will respond. And other times neither will respond. I don't think a response to a thank you is in any way a reflection I your performance, and isn't necessarily required by the interviewer. So I wouldent send a thank you note in addition to the email because of you send them an email they received it.

Fellas. Those of us completed way back when in July. I think we were brushed under the rug and rejected. 🙁
