Anyone knows if they ask you about your new grades on the interview day. Are there any essay style questions we have to answer on this day?
Definitely no essay style questions on the actual day. Only the ones you had to answer before your interview. Also as far as I know they don't ask about grades either. I don't think the interviewers get your grades and scores to begin with.

Anyone else interviewing tomorrow?! I'm sooooo exited!!

I just interviewed there. The interviews are conducted in the blind. They don't have any access to your AMCAS application, GPA, or MCAT. Prior to interview, you fill out a few prompts and a short essay, and that goes straight to the interviewer. They don't ask anything about academics during the interview.

I just looked at who I was interviewing with tomorrow and it turns out I have three interviews (two with MD's and one with a researcher). I remember people saying there were only two interviews. Has anyone on here had three?

Not that I'm complaining, the more interviews the better opportunity I will have to impress.

Yeah I only had 2 interviewers. That's really interesting. Maybe they just have more people available to interview now than they did earlier in the season. Either way, Good Luck!

Forget about c/o thread. I'm still waiting to figure out how to join the Facebook group. I emailed Nicholas and somehow I still can't Find the group. Can anyone help with this? Can't wait to meet all you guys.

You have to add Nicholas on Facebook and then send him a Facebook message asking to add you to the group; you can't just search for it since it's private. I did that and he just added me today but from the looks of it there is not much activity going on in there. Maybe someone should start up a c/o 2017 specific group.

What are the topics of discussion during the group discussion?

It was pretty much up to the group, the moderator gave us a few suggestions but then we just let the conversation flow to other topics. It is extremely low stress, nothing to worry about at all.

Hey guys, just to let you know that I'm trying to get permission to start the class of 2017 facebook group. I'll keep you updated.

Does anyone know when the admissions committee meets? I still have a few weeks before I can expect a decision but I'm just curious.

If I recall correctly, my student host mentioned they meet once a month. I am not sure when in the month they do and the amount of applications they go through during each meeting. My memory is a bit fuzzy on this, however, so, anyone, correct me if I am mistaken. With that said, I think one usually hears back in 4 to six weeks.

Thanks for the response! 🙂

I'm waiting for a post interview decision. The more I think about Rochester, the more I fall in love. I read a lot of science news and always see Rochester popping up in neuroscience and psychiatry for research. I want to do their ART with the MS in neuroscience.

I hope I get in!

AAAHHHH me too!! the wait is killing me!!!

Hey everybody. I'm a current 4th year at UR and would be more than willing to answer questions that anybody has regarding the school, city, hospital, etc... For those of you still interviewing and on the waitlist, best of luck!

Do you have any idea about how the wait list moves? I was told it's not ranked, so does that mean the earlier you're put on the list, the better chance you have of getting off of it? Also, do you know if it helps to send in a letter expressing continued interest?

Thanks so much!

Just curious, but do you know when the committee is meeting this month?

Hi Poiu86! I was wondering, were you an OOS or IS applicant? How did you go about finding housing. I'm OOS and quite far from NY and have started looking at housing but I'm figuring it would be a lot easier for an in state applicant to be able to visit and look at housing and go through the process. Any tips?

Off the top of my head, I'm not sure how the waitlist moves or is ranked. I don't believe it is done based on the time that you were put on it (i.e. somebody waitlisted that interviews now isn't necessarily behind somebody waitlisted back in November). Also not sure about committee meeting times. Sorry! I don't think that a short, genuine letter expressing honest interest is ever a bad thing. With that said, they certainly aren't required or necessary to get in/off the waitlist.

I was an out of state applicant (I'm from the Midwest... ~12 hour drive). For housing, there are a few things that you should consider... Namely, if you want to be walking distance from school, and if you want to have roommates. During first year I lived with 2 other guys in a 3 bedroom house in the "White Coat Ghetto" across from the school. We were all from OOS and rented the place site unseen from Craigslist. It worked out just fine. After first year I got engaged and moved to my current place (also in the WCG) that my fiance and I love. To give you an idea: it's a 1 BR duplex (bottom floor of a house) with 2 parking spots. Really nice inside and we pay a total of $650/mo.

There was a facebook group of people looking for roommates, and I think something provided by the school as well (not sure if that is still there). Later in the year there will be a ton of places advertised on there (mine included) and on Craigslist. If you have specific questions about areas to live, etc... let me know! Not everybody lives in the WCG, but it is definitely popular. Particularly first year.

I got my decision in 3.5 weeks but I believe they generally tell us 4-6 weeks. Possibly 4-8. Maybe it's taking longer because it's nearing the end of the cycle?

A med student here, who is also an interviewer, told me that he believes the committee has met or is meeting this week. I don't know if there is any truth to this but I really hope so!

Please accept me!!! Ahhhh

Wait listed just now. 24 January interview.

withdrew acceptance, i believe interviews are still going on, good luck to those still waiting

How did you find out if you got waitlisted/accepted?

First acceptance and most likely attending!

Complete: 9/3
II: 10/3
Interview: 1/11
Accepted: 2/21

Look forward to meeting all others!

waitlisted too.. aaaaa🙁 Does any one know about how many people they take off their waitlist?

+1 waitlisted 🙁 love the school so also wondering the same thing

To those on the waitlist... I know its disappointing but try to keep your heads up. There is decent movement every year. A decent number of people in my class came in off the waitlist. Best of luck to you all!

Congrats/condolences. When did people hearing back interview?

I just re-read my interview day packet, and I am so excited to hear back in a couple weeks! The more I think about the U of R, the more I want to go there. I hope they feel the same way when they look at my file!

Poiu86 do you know when they start taking people off the waitlist (assuming after they have their last interview). Didn't know if any if your friends got in off the wait list as early as April

Not sure off the top of my head. I'll try to find out tomorrow

Based on the threads from the last couple of years, UR will send out an email to selected candidates informing them that they are on the high priority waitlist and have a very good chance of being admitted. It appears that this email tends to be sent sometime between late March and early April. If you get that email, it seems that you can reasonably expect to be accepted off the waitlist sometime in May, if not in April or later than May.

Thanks for the info! Crossing my fingers ^_^
