Wondering the same thing as well 🙂

i would say who cares. If your parents are as excited as you are and want to be involved then bring them! Anyone who thinks anything else is probably jealous that youre that close with them! 😀
(Mine are far away and awful, otherwise I would do the same 😛)

Parents have definitely come to WW in the past. Last year we had 4 or 5 sets of parents. While most will attend alone, it will not seem odd to bring your parents, especially if you aren't from Houston/Texas. I would maybe not bring them to the bar socials, but bringing them on the campus and apartment tours is completely reasonable.

If anyone has considered military medicine and wants more info, let me know. I am in the Navy's HSCP program and it pays pretty well, full health benefits for you and your family, etc. Send me a private message if you want more info.

If anyone who is holding a spot (MD/PhD) here and is not planning to go here, if you could inform Jo as soon as possible it would be greatly appreciated.

Does anyone know if there has been any wait list movement here? 🙂

I'm not sure if the waitlist has started moving this year or not but it started moving last year on the second week of May. That is right after Baylor sends out the majority of their acceptances.

The admissions office tweeted yesterday that rolling admissions will pick up end of April/ealry May, and I got an acceptance this morning.

Thanks! I'm 3.9 (all), 3.87 (sci), 31S in state

Has there been any more waitlist movement? Approximately how many students are accepted from the waitlist?

Just got accepted off the waitlist this morning! So excited!

Accepted off the waitlist yesterday! IS, 4.0 GPA, 29S MCAT. It was a pleasant surprise since I never sent in any letters of update or anything. I'm sadly declining the spot though since I already got off the waitlist at my top choice. Good luck to everyone else!

Hey guys,

I know the waitlist is starting to move so just bumping this thread to say that if anyone has any questions about the school to PM and I'll do my best to answer them.

I know making a decision in a week after getting off the waitlist is a tough thing to do, just know that there probably isn't a wrong decision.

Withdrew my application yesterday. Best of luck to you all.

Accepted on 5/24 but I'm pretty sure I'll be declining within the next day. Good luck to everyone still waiting!

Hey guys, I've seen on the TMDSAS website that after June 1st, a person that is admitted to a medical school in Texas is not able to get off a waitlist and be admitted at another school in Texas...is this correct? I've heard of students changing schools in Texas just weeks before classes start

This is true. I believe this is only an agreement between TMDSAS schools. I would think the case of students changing schools weeks before school starts would be someone getting into Baylor since it is not a TMDSAS school and wouldn't be held to this June 1st agreement.

Baylor is included in the June 1 agreement.

Ah! I didn't know that. Thanks for the correction. Then I don't have an explanation for students switching between Texas schools close to school beginning. My only other guess would be they were accepted on 6/1, given a couple of weeks to make a decision and requested an extension of their decision time frame if waiting on financial information from either school. (I'm reaching here).

I guess its pretty much over 🙁 This was my dream school. I am grateful for my other acceptance in Texas but I guess I just wasn't good enough for UT-Houston......

Withdrew my acceptance today, good luck to everyone still waiting!

I just released my acceptance to this school. Good luck to one of y'all!

i ususally only hear about people getting an acceptance weeks before school starts if they did not have a seat anywhere to begin with...

dont think as in good enough. obviously you had what it takes to get into medical school. there are only so many seats for all the students, it might not have anything to do with anyone being good enough!
😍

Just withdrew my OOS acceptance. Good luck to whoever gets offered

Hi incoming MS1s--

I'm a rising MS3 and have some books for sale. These are the "required" books for your MS1 coursework-- most are current editions, some are one older, but it doesn't matter. You don't need any of these (beyond anatomy, probably-- and I would argue that the immunology books are close to indispensable because the syllabus is so awful) but if you are like me and enjoy learning more beyond a syllabi's outline, they're worthwhile. I'm selling them for less than the cheapest used price on Amazon. You can either buy all of them for $200 (and pick them up when you visit sometime or when school starts), or for the individual prices listed-- just send me a message and we'll work it out. Thanks!

Color Atlas of Histology (5th Edition) - $40
The Human Brain (6th Edition) - $25
Rohen's Atlas of Anatomy (Color, 10th Edition Hardcover) - $60
Medical Microbiology (Mosby, 6th Edition) - $40
The Developing Human (8th Edition) + Free Study Guide! - $20
Immunology: A Short Course (6th Edition) - $30
Case Studies in Immunology (5th Edition) - $10
Dr. Actor's Immunology/Micro Book (Written by the prof- pro tip, buy this one and do the online questions.)- $25
BRS Biochemistry - $20
BRS Microbiology - $20

Edit: Books are sold! But if you're a rising MS2, feel free to holler at me and I'll sell you THOSE books. They're awesome!

Got the acceptance email earlier today (8/14/13).
IS
MCAT: 29
GPA: 3.87
In case someone on the 2014 waitlist reads this next year, there is always hope. Even 5 days before classes start.
