Anyone know the MCAT/GPA cutoffs for interview invites?

How long was the retreat and what did you guys do? Hopefully i get the chance to go on a retreat this time next year

Man, I hope I hear back this week from UT Houston. No more initial interviews? Then again, it is only Monday. =]

In state, 3.5 GPA and 35Q MCAT. I submitted my TMDSAS super early, and got confirmation on 7/13.

Interview invite today! I nearly thought that I got screened out or something when many people here already got interviews.

I think I missed the boat again. Could you please share your stats?

I am from Georgia and go to UGA. I have a 4.0 and 35M.

Just got an interview invite, super excited! I was really hoping for an interview here =)

Stats: 4.0 cGPA/sGPA, 29S MCAT, in-state resident.

Hey congratulations man.

Ps: thanks Deutsch.

Sent via my crappy phone.

looks like I have to wait next week 🙁

I wish I volunteered more. I know that's holding my application back.

Does anyone know if OOS students get scholarships for in-state tuition like UTHSCSA?

Anybody know how often they send out interview invites?

Uhm. I received two under review emails: one on 8/17 titled "Received Application for UT Houston Medical School" and one today titled "CONFIRMATION of application -UT HOUSTON." They both say the same exact thing in the body. Weird. Anyone else have this happen? Nothing has changed and my MCAT scores aren't supposed to post until 9/5.

Same thing just happened to me.

So I just got an e-mail from UTH - it was yet another confirmation of the receipt of my application. I'll put my heart back in its proper place now. Blah..

Ah.. I see I'm not alone. Guess it's a glitch in their system.

Got the same e-mail as well. My first confirmation email was on 8/17 and I got one just now at 2:50 pm. Hopefully they were trying to send us interview invites and sent the wrong email! That would be awesome! =]

I got the Confirmation email just today, but not the other one. Does anyone know what the lower range of MCAT scores is for UT Houston? What's the lowest score that someone has gotten an interview with? Any in the 25-28 MCAT range?

People have been accepted to UTH with those kinds of scores. Typically there's more to their story, though.

Why yes... yes it would! I would even be ok with them extending us all interview invites as an apology for inducing mini-heart attacks.

Does anyone know what grading system UT-Houston has (P/F or A/B/C)? Also, is the curriculum mainly lectures or group based learning? Finally, are out of state student given instate tuition like at UTHSCSA?

Honors, high pass, pass, marginal performance, fail.
Mainly lectures. There is one PBL course in second year.
I don't know, but I don't think so.

Does anybody know if Houston is responsive to "in the area emails"? I have a couple of other interviews grouped together and would love to not have to fly back and forth if they're gonna give me an invite.

They have been in the past, especially for OOSers. Ask nicely.

Any MD/PhD applicants here received anything from the program ? I'm OOS, applying MD/PhD only. Haven't heard a single word from them after my AMCAS was verified early July.

Call for an interview this morning! Unfortunately, she woke my up from a dead sleep and math to pick a date was embarrassingly hard...

Complete in early June, 3.4 and 35Q.

Ugh. Sorry, semi-asleep strikes again. So ready to stop working nights. I got an email yesterday for UT Houston. I had thought I was in TCOM thread!

In state, interview 9/21.

Do you guys think --current student feedback very appreciated---- that a doctor LOR would help any? if so, I have a DO LOR so far and an MD is in the process of writing one...should I send both, wait for MD, send DO now? dunno, maybe DO is not taken much into consideration since this is an MD school.

BTW, if you ask me, a physician is a physician regardless of letters, but you never know with ADCOMS.

Input appreciated!

This doesn't really belong in school specific discussions imo.

Not a current student, but please also use the search function, I think it has been mentioned a few times, but to answer your question:

LizzyM gives a lot of good advice!
