my invite was by e-mail
i don't remember when i got the angry red e-mail, but i think it was in june
MCAT: 29, GPA: 3.8-ish (don't remember b/c I'm a non-traditional student and it was a long time ago), above average ECs & work experience

Can everyone who recieves an interview invite please state when their application was transmitted, the date they recieved the invite and date of the interview? This will really help those of us who are still waiting for an interview cuz it lets us know if they've gotten to our application yet or skipped over it for now. Thanks!

Transmitted 7/16, email received 8/6, II today for
11/2. I need to reschedule, though....

I had initially left it out bc my case is a little complicated. I transmitted in May, complete in July, and retook the mcat early August. Non-trad applicant.

I may start harassing them until they offer me an interview. I've just now decided.

Just talked to admissions and found out they have booked the interview dates through Nov 2. She also said that they will conduct 50-60 interviews each Friday afterwords until the last date, which is Dec 9th. So, ostensibly, there are 5 interview dates left to interview 250-300 more applicants - less than 1/3 of their usual interview pool.

wow it sucks to realize that even if I got an interview from them, that I am considered in the bottom 1/3 of their applicants.

How are you going to pull that off, they don't take update letters or LOIs before the interview.

^^ Wrong, I just talked to admissions, and they interview until Jan 4th!!!! Woot Woot, more interview seats!!!! Jan 4th makes more sense because it is a friday, December 9th is a monday and they don't even interview on Mondays.

I received the email with the red lines back in July, but the scores for my retake were sent on 8/15. Do you think I was passed up? This worries me 😕

Houston, we're gonna have a problem if I don't get an II.

Not really, as I epitomize mediocre, but I have been meaning to say that for awhile meow.

I'm still suffering emotional scars from their bloody email.

Good Luck! Just interviewed here and it is awesome. The scary email is not a good indication of their attitude, everyone is actually very nice.

the date of the interview in no way changes your chances or suggests their desire for you. things just work out that way sometimes.

I have several classmates who interviewed on the last day or got in off the waitlist, and it doesn't mean they weren't desirable applicants.

^^ Thanks for the encouragement man.

Can you confirm that the interview date lasts until Jan 4th. I guess me and another poster on this thread have been receiving conflicting information from admissions.

Also anyone look at the new US News data for UT-H? Its scary.

For instaters, which most of us on this thread are:

31.8% of instate applicants receive an interview, but only 39 percent of those interviewed are accepted, 39% may seem like a high number, but if you look at other texas schools, the number of those accepted after interviews is much higher. UT-H for 2010 had a 12.4% acceptance rate for in-state students!!!!! 🙁

I want this school so badly. Please show me some love.

I'll try to confirm that for you. I've usually spent a lot of time with the admissions staff, but this year I've been really busy and haven't had a chance to give you guys tours, etc. But I'll try to find out next time I'm up at school.

Got an interview invite on the 4th! I'm from the Houston, so I'm extremely excited to have the chance to interview here. Houston seems to look at the application very holistically. Glad it's not all about the numbers.

Instate, 3.65 cGPA, 3.54 sGPA, 28O MCAT, Received the review email around the end of August

When were you complete?

what is the dress code for the social the night before?

I have a question for anyone that currently goes to UTH. How bad is the block exam schedule and how manageable is it? I know that most of the students seemed to think it was manageable when I was discussing it with them at my interview, but I figured asking more people couldn't hurt 🙂

Ugfghhhh, original interview invite for 11/2, and they offered me a reschedule date for 11/16! Too bad I can't legally take work off that date... I think I'm screwed for this school... Better just cross my fingers for UTSW, I guess.

It's at a bar. Dress appropriately for the weather, otherwise the students won't care how you're dressed. Most people will be in t-shirt/polo/jeans sort of dress (or the female equivalent)

Very manageable. We get through it and we do well. I didn't think it was bad at all.

1. For people who have posted that parking is expensive if you go to school here: I can confirm that. I went to grad school in the med center and parking is $8-$12 per day depending on how far you want to walk. My advice is live close and every day you walk or ride your bike you save $$! Some nearby apartment complexes have shuttles that are about $1/day but they are SLOW.

2. For anybody who has already interviewed here: Did you tour Memorial Hermann Hospital? Were any of your interviews in Memorial Hermann Hospital?

Thanks!!

We do tour Hermann and there are sometimes interviews there, depending on the person who is doing the interview and what their schedule is like.

So this next joke needs to be worth six if I'm to break even:

What is the difference between a cat and a comma?
