Wow man, I am really happy for you and your family. I didn't even interview at this school but I creeped on the threat every now and then and I always read something about your concerns about staying dallas and being close to your family, even if it meant attending TCOM. I volunteered at UTSW for 2 years, worked there another 2 years, and have a coworker who is an MS-1 there. I know you will love it. Again, I am very happy things worked out for you.

Thanks a lot, I appreciate your nice words. I was really on edge. I am so happy because it means that going to med school is possible now. I am beyond thrilled, can't explain how much!

I told ya man, you worry too much. Good job though 👍

Thx man, but for me, the stakes were really high. Not going to UTSW, would have perhaps jeopardized the entire journey. Congrats to you as well.

Ah crap, is it safe to say that most the people who get pre-matched later in December are those that had late interviews and weren't available for the nov 15 match right? Then I would think if I have a fairly early interview my app is waitlisted already 🙁
Oh well, just as I thought, this whole thing is getting worse, way worse...

It seems that most of us acceptees interviewed very early. I interview on the the first week-end (so I think it was Sept 8 or something like that, uGPA = sGPA = 4 -; cGPA = 3.7 ish; MCAT 36P but very very very non-trad)

Again my congrats to you all who got in. I feel excited and thrille.

A word for people waiting: UTSW interviews into January. During my interview day, most of the students I talked to interviewed late Nov/Dec and most of them heard back from the school during the match. Only one I think had pre-matched. So the norm is that many who make it apparently don't pre-match. I will try to talk to the admission folks sometime soon and see if I can scavenge any stats/info.

Keep the faith y'all

Congratulations to everyone who got in. If you haven't heard back yet, keep hope alive. There is usually waitlist movement in the spring! Those who do decide to come, see u all in the fall 🙂

Hasn't utsw traditionally sent Oos out in the same batch as is on Nov 15?

Right, I know for a fact that last year, an OOS got his acceptance at midnight. Seems like no OOS here got any love last night.

Accepted at midnight! 😀 Definitely a top choice.

Instate, 3.9/34; Interviewed mid September

Congrats to those accepted, and good luck to those waiting!

Accepted! OOS. 99% sure I will be matriculating here!!!

For those unlucky few who did not receive their acceptance email at midnight, is the prematch gave over? I don't want to be grasping at straws, but is it possible they just didn't have time to enter all of the names into the computer before midnight last night? Or were the decisions on acceptance made at the time of the interview, stored in the computer, and programmed to be sent out at midnight Nov 15th? Therefore if you did not receive your prematch last night, you are either wait-listed or rejected?

I'm assuming you got your acceptance email at midnight as well? When did you interview? Congrats!

Thanks! Yes, I received it at midnight central time as well. I interviewed mid-October.

Does anyone know when the secondary deadline was for Southwestern?

🙁 Nooooo UTSW why you make me so sad. Oh well... here is to hoping and waiting for months!!!!!!

oos, interviewed on 9/15, got accepted last night 🙂 best of luck to everyone.

No. UTSW sends prematches until about December 20th. They stop for the holidays and then send out match offers. There is also a lot of movement in their wait list up until the week before the first day of class.

Congratulations to those who pre-matched! UTSW is a wonderful school and I hope you choose to come here. For those still waiting, acceptances keep coming. For example I interviewed Nov 12 last year and got the pre-match acceptance the week of Thanksgiving. They don't necessarily wait until December.

Is it correct to assume then that the only people who get acceptance letters after the November 15th date are those who have interviews after mid November? And all the people who interviewed in September or October (who didn't get an acceptance letter on November 15th) have already been passed over for pre-match acceptance?

I was curious about this too. I looked through the 2011-2012 forums just now and there weren't any pre-matches after the 15th from people who interviewed in Sept/Oct so it does look like we'll have to wait till after the holidays. 🙁

Well that's unfortunate news. I guess it's time for me to start making other plans for next year. 🙁 Doesn't seem that things with UTSW are going to work out for me.

I am sure they are just taking their time to decide how much scholarship money to give me lmao
Hopefully they don't take their time until may...

Does anyone know if this applies to people who interview November 3rd as well?

🙁 anyone know if it's ok to send letters of interest here? I saw on last year's thread that someone said they had asked for people not to send letters, but I do not remember them saying this at my interview.

This is incorrect. I interviewed at UTSW on Oct. 1 last year and did not get a prematch offer until Dec. 3. I was honestly surprised as I did not write any letters of interest or contact the school at all between Nov. 15 and my prematch offer. So if you interviewed in Sept/Oct and did not get an acceptance on Nov. 15, there is still a chance you could get a prematch offer. Good luck :luck:

Never been more happy to be wrong! I guess we'll have to wait this one out guys. Good luck everyone!

I just emailed Wes Norred and asked to get a factual answer on this matter. There is too much at stake for all of us who did not receive prematch acceptance letters on November 15th to rely on rumor and hearsay.

I can assure you my personal experience is not mere "rumor or hearsay," but I guess it wouldn't hurt to ask anyway since things could've changed from last year's application cycle.

Thank you very much. Really and truly. Interviewed on the 3rd and no luck last night.

My apologies for the misunderstanding. I wasn't at all imply that your post was "rumor or hearsay".

But it would be good to know exactly what their official policy is. I think everyone who has not been admitted wants to know.

Gotcha. Although I ended up attending a different school, I have to say UTSW has one of the most transparent and responsive admissions staff I interacted with. They are very good about getting back to you on any questions you might have.

+1 for taking the initiative. Were you referring to the letter of intent question or whether applicants who interviewed prior to the 15th may still be pre-matched?

I emailed Wes Norred because I want to know for certain if a person who interviewed in September, October, and early November who DID NOT receive a pre-match acceptance letter at midnight on November 15th is officially wait-listed and/or rejected. Because the "rumor" now seems to be that only people who interview in late November and December will receive pre-match offers after midnight November 15th--and everyone else is out of luck.

I want to know for certain how this process works. I will report back what I learn.

It is my opinion that being wait-listed essentially implies that the school will consider you for admission, but only if someone more qualified decides to go somewhere else. This reminds me of asking a cheerleader out for the high-school prom, and having her say to you that, "I will consider going to the high-school prom with you, but only if a more attractive person doesn't ask me out first."

"Reminds" as in, they are simply similar situations? Or did that actually happen to you (and is also a similar situation I suppose)?!

So what is the word on LOI's? I looked at their site briefly but didn't see anything. Will they take them?

Thanks again! Looking forward to hearing what he says!

+1 I would really like to know this!

Congrats on your acceptances, everyone-- 🙂

Sorry to barge into the celebration with a question, but does anyone know which interview dates are still available and when they may send out more? Still hoping for an II amidst all the prematch celebrations... Haha. 🙁

Also, I sent a LOI a week ago pre-interview (which is different from post-interview I assume), but I received a very nice response that the letter would be printed out and added to my file.

Perusing at last year's thread, there is a guy who just did that and was invited if I remember correctly - just look it up, I will look again to see if I can find the actual post. Not that it is systematic, but for sure, it doesn't hurt.
I found this (scroll down to post 468, and 472) http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=823514&page=10

They clealry say that they did send update letters and were invited, not sure if there is a link, but it proves that it will not hurt.

Thanks for looking that up! 🙂 Crossing my fingers--

Is there a facebook page for class of 2017?

Is there a facebook page for class of 2017?

I was wondering the same thing. My wife created my fb account yesterday just for that. I suck at fb big time, never had an account up to yesterday.

So who is doing it?

Anyone else gonna go for the second look tour in feburary? Also, when do we find out about scholarships?
