I think it might just be so because they're getting MyGateWay ready for the 2013-2014 applicants. Everything seems to be wiped off already. :/

All of my stuff seems to still be there.
 
So I called Admissions to ask about the status of the waitlist and the lady who picked up the phone said that the class if full and that the waitlist is pretty much meaningless at this point. I'm not sure what to make of what she said..... 🙁

I don't really understand what this means.... I thought the point of waitlist came from the fact that the class is full? How can she predict how many people are going to let go of their acceptances? Is it because their class is more than full right now and they won't need to pull people off the waitlist?
 
I also heard earlier this semester that they would be sending out 100 more acceptances off the waitlist this month?
 
the class is not "full" in the sense of having 230 students committed to UTSW. I know at least two of my friends who are going to wait until the May 15th deadline to make the decision between BCM and UTSW... so i predict many more seat opening up at UTSW after May 15th... from what happened during last year's thread, it looks like a lot of people are going to be offered seats on May 31st of this year

Im out-of-state but I didnt tell the lady that. I just asked if it was possible to find out where we are on the waitlist and then she said that the class was full and that they had received enough acceptance confirmations to fill it and so the waitlist was basically null and void. I wanted to ask if that meant there were just enough to fill the class (in which case people withdrawing would lead to more openings) or if she meant they had accepted enough people that there probably wouldn't be a lot of waitlist movement but I chickened out and didnt ask. I suppose we don't know enough to draw any conclusions she just kind of freaked me out when she said the waitlist was basically "null and void". Im really confused by it, but im just going to keep hoping that there will be movement anyways and she just didnt know what she was talking about or I misunderstood her

it's no surprise that they have a full class at this point. I'm sure every school does. People will have to start withdrawing their acceptances on May 15th and that's around when they'll need more acceptances to fill their class.

true but this is in sharp contrast to this Southwestern thread from last year. Last year, five people from SDN alone got off the waitlist on 4/25, then another 5 or so came off two weeks later
 
I feel like that person must not really be knowledgeable...we would expect the class to be full right now.

Also seems really unprofessional for the person to freak out on you over the phone just for asking a question.

A decent number of my classmates got off the waitlist in May. There's definitely some last minute shuffling going around right now.
 
For those of you that have already been accepted, could you tell me when orientation starts and when school starts for UTSW?

When is a okay time to start looking for an apartment if you plan on moving in in August. Would it be possible to visit Dallas at the end of July, say around the 25th, and find something or is that too risky?

Unfortunately I'm going to be out of town so its either that or looking in the middle of June. Would they even know whats available then?

Apartment residents have to give 60 days notice typically before move out, so complexes know at any given time what will be available two months from now. For example, if you're looking to move in August 8th, they'll know what they have available then from June 8th onward. If you're picky about where you live, late July for a mid-August move-in might be too risky. If you don't care, then it doesn't matter anyways.

Orientation goes from Aug. 9-11, with the official start of classes on August 12.
 
thoughts on potential for wait list movement this week?? It is the week of may 15th!
 
Accepted today! I will definitely be matriculating here and I'm so excited!
 
Looks like it's a safe bet that the 3 people that just got in are in-state (based on their locations listed next to their username)...still keeping an eye out as an OOS

does anyone know how the waitlist process at utsw works? is it a ranked waitlist and they just keep going down the list? or does the committee keep meeting to decide who to pull off the waitlist?

From what i read in the alternate list email, it would seem that UTSW has a "pool" of interviewed applicants rather than a ranked list...

I've been getting mixed messages because I remember reading that too.

However, when I called a few weeks ago they said that there was a computer generated list that pulls people automatically.

Which was in sharp contrast to what the email they sent us earlier this year about the alternate list.
 
If the last day we can get accepted is June 1st, and June 1st is a Saturday, will May 31st (Friday) technically be the last possible day?

I think who ever answers the phone is just horribly misinformed of how the process works and always says that. I called last month and was told the same thing.
