"The Admissions Committee has met to discuss your file. Your application is being placed on hold for action at a later date. We anticipate making offers October 16, December 15, February 1, and March 16. Only offers of admission will be made on the dates above.

You will receive no further communication from us concerning your hold status. The next status change you will be contacted about will be to offer you a position in the class, to notify you that you have been placed on the alternate list (the alternate list is formulated in late-March), or to notify you that the Committee will no longer be considering your file.

I haven't received this update yet, II 10-4. the only notification was the survey thing post interview. hmm.

Same here and I interview on 9/26... wonder if they just haven't changed our statuses yet or if that means we haven't been reviewed. I would like to know whether I should be waiting to hear back tomorrow or not
 
had a quick question about letters...do you guys advise that I send in a letter from a research supervisor or from a doctor that I shadowed? the doctor shadowing was done after I sent in my primary so its not listed anywhere but my research is listed in the primary, which is why I was thinking to send this letter in however does VCU care more about research or clinical experience?
 
Hmm I interview 12/3. I hope I hear on 12/15! Otherwise I guess I'll wait until February

Congratulations, unfortunately did not receive the call today. When did you interview if you don't mind me asking?

No, it didn't, although you WILL get a call (from your interviewer) if accepted (at least I did and so did other M1s). However, for me, this happened about 1-2 weeks AFTER my status changed to accepted.
 
Just got a status update saying I was put on hold and that acceptance offers are given Oct 16th (tomorrow), and 3 other dates.

Interviewed early October...

Hoping tomorrow brings some good news, I really loved this school.

Got same status! Does this mean a waitlist, or can we be possibly accepted tmr?

I think it's a good sign from reading last 2 cycle's threads. It just means you've been reviewed and they wanted to get your decision out by Oct 16th. We COULD not hear anything tomorrow (meaning waitlist later probably), but from reading old threads, it seems most people that got their status switched got an acceptance.

Not holding my breath though, as a reapplicant, I've been burned and scarred by medical schools plenty.
 
If you do not get an acceptance today, that DOES NOT mean rejection/waitlist. It just means your priority score wasn't high enough to get in on this date; on the next acceptance date (in December) they will slightly raise the score and if yours falls under the cut-off, you get in! Until March 15, no waitlist is formed, so you can get accepted regularly until that day. After the 15th, they form a waitlist and reject others. At least from what I've heard, this is how it works.
 
Nervous as hell for a status update tonight. What will y'all do if you get acceptances in the next couple days? I think I will cry tears of joy for the first time in my life and pop a bottle of champagne (most likely Korbel though since my net worth will now be in the negative six figures).
 
Hahah I honestly have no idea how I'd react.. it would probably involve alcohol though. Maybe I'll treat myself to a bottle of Johnnie Walker 🙂

Oh are they now? Sounds like you (or they) are a bit late getting that status change out. Good luck on your makeup exams for the past 9 weeks. I hope you've got some scrubs and gloves ready to dive into your cadaver tomorrow morning!

Question: do you only pay the 100 dollars if you're matriculating? or do you pay it to hold your spot and then you're returned that money at the end if you don't go there?
 
Is there any way to move up to an earlier interview date (if one opens up) or are you stuck with the one they assigned you?

I got the status change, but no email on the 16th :/ I thought most people who get the status change get acceptances, maybe I'll have better luck next decision date. I have a very good first priority score, CA resident, and I thought my interview went well ...guess just need to wait
 
Congrats on all of the acceptances!!

For those of us still playing the waiting game with status changes-- I wanted to know if anyone else got multiple complete status changes? I've had a total of 4 e-mails with status changes-- when I submitted my secondary back in August, when my letters were received, when I was complete (4 weeks after everything was received), and then status change email 2 weeks after that-- it doesn't look any different than the first 'complete' I received.. No may or further or anything..

I'm confused..
 
Finally got a status change. Further status together after being complete and under review since beginning of August...

Yea but people complete at around the same time as me got a status much earlier than me. Maybe I stumped them really hard in the review...
 
How long does it typically take to get marked complete here? I was ecstatic to be screened in the for the secondary and just submitted :luck:
 
Just got approved from the preliminary scan for secondary.
Is it too late for me to apply?

I am OOS (Canadian), with a 3.60 GPA, 33R MCAT, currently doing a clinical research project at a major hospital in Toronto, and also volunteered at the dermatology clinic at a children's hospital.

8000 character essay. Gulp.

My essay was about 2500 chars and I was accepted just last week. Quality > quantity.

Honestly man no one got back to me in regards to it, I've also been a little overwhelmed by Anatomy. I'll private message you an email of the staff member you can email for questions regarding Fmstat.

E-mail FamMed about it (or the Director listed on the website). I honestly don't hear much about it. There are tons of programs for people wanting to do primary care and/or work with underserved populations. RVA (Richmond) is pretty much the center of underserved people groups in the state of VA. If you want that kind of experience, it's a great program. You might also plan on asking about it at your Interview and you can always email Mama Mac (our Director of Admissions) about meeting the Director of fmSTAT during your interview day. I'm sure it could be arranged.
