From what I was told, greater than 3.5 is a rejection.

like, Oct decision date: <1.5
Dec. decision date <2.5
Feb. decision date <3.5
March decision date <4.0

(obviously = or >than 4 equals a rejection).

I don't think it's worth speculating. None of us know which score we were given.

You won't get the opportunity for an interview if you don't apply. 😉 Many people have been accepted even though they applied late.

Remember that you can receive the update up until the 17th. You guys might already have assigned scores but they haven't sent out the update yet.

For some reason, although SDN only accounts for a small number of the applicants, it seems to me like there are more OOS applicants and less IS applicants this year compared to the previous years.

And for what it's worth, I got my status update back in October at 3:16 Pacific Time (or 6:16 Eastern).

Good luck to all those who are hoping to get accepted on Monday! VCU is currently my top choice out of the schools that have offered acceptance. I could see myself going here and being extremely happy. I'm excited that more people will be joining those who have been accepted. I absolutely loved it there!

omg just got a secondary! after months of radio silence. wondering if its worth a shot at applying now since its a long secondary and might not be many seats for interviews left....

Honestly, it depends on your stats and financial situation. A secondary sent in this late probably won't get an interview (and if you did would almost certainly end up in a waitlist at best) but you never know (and even waitlists can turn into acceptances).

I just realized that last year, Decision Date was on Thursday, so it would make sense for these people to get a hold and an acceptance in one day, since Thursday's not Committee Day.

This year, Decision Date is on a Monday, so that makes things really really tight... but Dr. Whitehurst-Cook said they'll get 'em to us on time, so I don't see why they wouldn't. It's gonna be one heckova Monday at VCU HQ!

Because Dr. Whitehurst-Cook specifically told us so at our info session on December 6. Also because the 15th is a Saturday.

The committee meets every Monday, barring a holiday or some other special event. I'm sure there will be a select few who haven't received a status update, and will hear back Monday with an acceptance status.

Hmm I was under the impression that they met every Monday, but our file will only be reviewed if our interviewer was available that day. But do correct me if I'm wrong.

Haha that's so silly. If they talk ab your file and give you a number, they already know whether or not they'll accept you. Why would they make you wait two more months?

I was told otherwise, that I would still receive decision on Monday afternoon or Tuesday morning.

In any case, for those of us who haven't received the hold status update, let's just pray we're going to receive it together with the acceptance status on Monday 17th I'm tired of this wait too.

I hope you are correct!! The wait is terrible!

That is completely the opposite of what Dr. Whitehurst-Cook told us. I would be so disappointed if i dont found out by then, the wait is killing me.

"The Admissions Committee has met to discuss your file. Your application is being placed on hold for action at a later date. We anticipate making offers October 16, December 15, February 1, and March 16. Only offers of admission will be made on the dates above.

You will receive no further communication from us concerning your hold status. The next status change you will be contacted about will be to offer you a position in the class, to notify you that you have been placed on the alternate list (the alternate list is formulated in late-March), or to notify you that the Committee will no longer be considering your file.

We thank you for your interest in our school."

Hold status means you are either accepted or wait listed, you find out which one on the 17th

December 6. They told me we were the last group they are going to inform on December 17

I assume they would only assign me an interviewer who would make it to the meeting, otherwise Dr. W-C wouldnt have been so certain that we would find out. Especially since a lot of us haven't heard yet.

It's probably a systemic thing.
