i dunno. at one point there was like 166 people in this thread. I only saw maybe 3 or 4 acceptances

You'll hear a few business days after if you're accepted. I did the next morning. (Fmstat)

I was accepted at VCU on 12/17, am not URM, and I received an invitation to second look on 1/23. The date for Second Look is April 6th, and based on the invitation, I suspect the new medical school building and the curriculum overhaul will feature prominently in the events of the day.

The only updates that we accept are grades from courses that were completed after an application was submitted and academic publication material that was published after an application was submitted. We do not accept letters of interest."

I was hoping to have the option of writing the LOI of all LOIs 🙁

My interviewer at VCU was an M4 who was very laid back, but he did ask a few difficult "behavioral questions," which all interviewers are required to ask. Examples of such a question could be "tell me about a time you overcame a challenge" or "tell me about a time you were judgmental and what you learned from the experience." I was asked this doozy:

"Tell me about a challenge you faced, how you overcame it, what you learned from it, and how you applied that lesson in a subsequent, similar situation."

It turned out to be ok though; my interviewer was very friendly and interactive as I worked through my response.

So my main advice to you is be prepared for such questions by loosely thinking about which of your own experiences could be used in responding to the following "behavioral question" categories:

-Challenges to leadership
-Times you made a mistake
-Moral or ethical dilemmas you've faced
-Noteworthy patient interactions

Otherwise, VCU's interview is similar to most other interviews, so be prepared for common questions about the health care system and "why medicine?" 🙂 Good luck!

Just interviewed here. Loved the campus and tour. It was great. I felt like I kinda messed up on my interview and didnt provide many good answers. Oh well guess ill find out in march 15

I wouldn't worry too much. You may still be offered a position. They were still interviewing people for fmSTAT as of today, so there are still spots open/on reserve. I believe today or tomorrow is the last day for fmSTAT interviews.

I believe tomorrow is the last day they are offering interviews based on conversations I have had recently with a few of the interviewers. I hope you are offered one (if you weren't already).

I have some in science classes but not in the biggies (Chem, Physics, Bio). I also had a letter from a CC prof. (took A&P, and it was my favorite class ever). Didn't seem to hurt me.

I took the bio sequence, chem sequence, and Physics I at a local CC. Didn't seem to be an issue.

I did, and quick question on that: Does anyone know if saying yes to the pre-matric. program completely bind you to attending VCU in the fall? I'm about 90% sure I'm going to VCU, but there's still some extenuating financial factors.... ...

so generally, it seems that being put on hold prior to the last decision date was a good thing. Is that still the case for the last round of acceptances for March 16? Or are they putting future waitlisters on hold as well before this next decision date?
