I did, and quick question on that: Does anyone know if saying yes to the pre-matric. program completely bind you to attending VCU in the fall? I'm about 90% sure I'm going to VCU, but there's still some extenuating financial factors.... ...
I don't think saying yes would be but actually attending would be defined as matriculating. Check the fine print, but if you attend that would be what the AAMC would consider "matriculation." If you said yes and then got into another school like May 16, you could probably get Dr. W/C to let you out if your reasons were good enough....
is vcu still sending out ii ?
From what I hear, no. Although there could always be exceptions.
so generally, it seems that being put on hold prior to the last decision date was a good thing. Is that still the case for the last round of acceptances for March 16? Or are they putting future waitlisters on hold as well before this next decision date?
The wait list has not yet been formed; therefore, there is no wait list to place you on. You are on hold until either an acceptance can be offered, a wait list is forming/formed, OR you are rejected. (Yes, you could still be rejected. You simply passed the initial post-interview screening.)
i know that everyone here is saying that all hope is lost at this point for an interview invite, but when i call vcu they claim that there are still spots open for interviews... whats going on here??
i got the "may" status change about 2 weeks ago and havent heard anything yet.
There may be a delay between offers being approved and actually being sent out -- at least that would be guess, since the reviewers I know are now all done reviewing apps. They were required to make all recommendations by last Friday at the absolute latest as I understand. This is speculative, though. I offer it as someone a bit closer to the process but without any official ties that might bind me.
All I can offer is that if you have not yet gotten an II and want to go to MCV, please prepare to reapply by figuring out what went wrong in your app this yr. The same goes for those still on hold or rejected. If you want to come here, figure out how to improve your application. No one -- not even Dr. W/C -- can tell you IF you'll get an offer at this point and certainly NOT the front desk people in Admissions (at just about any school). They are wonderful people, but they do not sit on the committee. Even a member of the committee cannot say for sure what your chance of acceptance is (hence why your interviewer can seem to really like you and apparently "promise" an acceptance just weeks prior to you receiving your "Dear John" letter from the school
at best thank you for your $150 and "interest" (never was quite sure whether they meant "interest" as in the money they had already made off investing my application fee or the interest as in a desire to learn more about the program -- the former actually seems more likely...).
This is my first time posting, but figure my experience may be helpful to those who have questions. I received the "very interested in your candidacy" update a couple of weeks ago and today was rejected via status update so perhaps it's true all interview spots are gone? The interested status told me (though no guarantees) to look for an interview invitation so I would believe there aren't interviews available?... But hope is a great thing to have!! 🙂
Sorry to hear that. I assume you applied let? This sounds like what would have happened if your reviewer wanted to see you interviewed, asked the Committee to open a new spot for you and then got a "sorry, great candidate but not THAT interested" response from the committee. Just reapply next year a bit earlier!
