So have they already rejected people post-interview that they're planning to reject (i.e. soon after the interview took place), or will they be giving out additional rejections next week? Anybody know?

They said practically nobody gets rejected after the post-interview hold status. You'll either get accepted or wait listed. I'm not sure when they start making rejections.

I actually got rejected post interview lol, on the monday after my interview.

With that being said, I didn't like that there was only 1 interviewer that I felt was out to get me. I felt like we didn't click well at all.

Also I didn't like that she asked if I was accepted to a medical school, which I felt put me in an awkward situation kinda.

Edit: Since I said I was accepted to another school and named it, was this a bad idea? Did I give her the impression that I wasent interested in the school maybe?

Although they have rejected some applicants post interview..not every one that is currently on hold will be accepted or waitlisted. There will be some rejections next week 🙁 Thats what I was told by the office

Has anyone from last year done the pre-matriculation program and can comment on your experience?

My interviewer asked me where else I had interviewed, where I was waitlisted, and where I had been accepted. I felt this was kind of shady, too. I was put on hold post-interview and heard nothing during the one decision day that has passed and I'm curious as to whether my answers (I had several acceptances at the time) to his questions had a big effect. Did anyone else have that experience and end up with an acceptance?

I was also asked where interviewed/accepted/waitlist/etc. I was on only 1 waitlist at the time, and not sure how they use the information. I think the most important thing is if they ask, to give them honest answers that are complete, so that's what I did

I got asked it too. However, I take this question as them asking "Why would you attend this school." So, I answered it truthfully saying I had an acceptance but then followed it up with 5 reasons why I would attend VCU over that other school and that I was very humbled to be accepted so soon (I interviewed in November).

I too was asked this question, and I answered it very much like BABSstudent did. I was straight forward and answered the question then outlined why I wanted to attend VCU, and was fortunately accepted. I don't think this was a major part of my interview, instead I believe the interviewer was determining how excited I was when I spoke about VCU vs. other schools I was listed that I received interviews, acceptances, and wait-lists from.

Yeah, obviously I realize they were trying to gauge my interest in the school. I felt as though I responded well. Just wondering if people thought it had a significant impact on acceptance...

yea same. The interviewer was like congrats you are going to med school next year.

I almost want to send an email asking to why I was rejected. I was super interested in the school.

Rejected pre-interview. Took them a long time haha

Waitlist and interviewed in September. At least we know something now!

waitlisted too. wonder what the movement is going to be like this year. Are we allowed to call and ask where we are on the list?

Just rejected pre-interview. Good luck to everyone still in the running!

I got the same email today. Do you think it matters when we answer this alternate list question? I have something I'd like to ask the admissions office on Monday, and I'm wondering if waiting until Monday to answer will make a difference.

also waitlisted, interviewed nov. 5. at least we didn't have to wait until tuesday!

Placed on the alternate list...did everyone also get -you're a strong candidate but there's just too many applicants- part?

Wait, why is everyone saying they've been waitlisted? For me it said I have to fill out the alternate list form if I want to be considered for the wait list...

Got the same message, actually mine said I was a "relatively strong candidate"...please tell me this isn't like the may/further status updates. I meant I was on the alternate list. I had to fill out the form too, but I find it a bit shady that they ask if we were accepted elsewhere. If we were does that make us less likely to get in off the list?

And does anyone know if now that we're waitlisted we can send in LOIs?

Hello SDN, this is my first post in here !

It is disappointing to some degree since I really loved this school, my interviewer and Dr. W/C were super nice. this is really my top choice but I'm not sure if being a Canadian is putting me aside from others? any idea ? 😕
Anyway the good aspect is that I'm not rejected and still there is hope 😀 I hope we all hear some good news soon since patience is getting harder and harsher !

Also I was wondering how many acceptances were sent out today? and how is the wait list movement for this school?

I believe we all get the same message (at list mine is like yours). [it is relatively strong applicant] I filled out the form, it is reasonable that they basically want to know if you are really likely to go there or not.

alternative list or waitlist. not sure if there is a difference.

anybody accepted?

Mine says "relatively strong candidate" as well. I think they all say that?

alternate list aka waitlisted here as well. 4th waitlist in 4 post interview decisions 🙁 i think theres movement on this waitlist though?

waitlisted as well, wonder how many people are on this/got this email

Got the same thing. I believe that if you were on hold and DID NOT hear something today, you are probably going to hear on the 19th aka get an acceptance.

lol VCU trolling. Didn't they say 19th, and then those waitlisted would hear on 21st?

Same - alternate/waitlist and 'relatively strong'... looks like a lot of us!

Is there anyone out there whose status did NOT change tonight?

"The VCU School of Medicine will be making it's fourth set of offers on March 19th. Today and Monday the office is being moved to our new location at the McGlothin Medical Education Center. Hopefully phones will be in operation sometime on Monday."
This means that who hasn't heard tonight will be accepted on March 19th, I think !
Is there anyone who has not still get any status update? Please !!
They were suppose to form the waitlist on March 21st so I don't know what has changed since their last update (i.e last week)

Also waitlisted. I'm beginning to think/hope this was a glitch in the system. Only time will tell....

I got waitlisted, one of my friends was waitlisted, but I did have a friend who was rejected. I'm thinking it's not a glitch and that they just happened to get things done early.

Sad...this is my top choice. So those who turned in the alternate form will most definitely be on the wait list or is there still a chance we won't be on the list?
