The deadline for submitting the secondary application is three weeks from the date of this e-mail message. Evaluation letters are due at your earliest convenience.

This kinda sounds like a hard cutoff, but who knows.

Contacting them has benefits and drawbacks it seem, as it can point out to them you missed the deadline if they do not actually check it and kinda just use it to get people to submit apps quickly or if you do not contact them and they actually do use it as a hard cut off, your app will be thrown out automatically cause you did not contact them seeing if they would let it slide.

Just finished this app and besides the infinity limit essay, I thought this was a pretty easy secondary. Great pro tennis tournament in Winston-Salem I wouldn't mind being around for 🙂

Just called them and asked about the deadline and the lady (SUPER NICE btw) said, "Oh don't worry haha, it's really early in the cycle still so we aren't really enforcing it yet. You will be fine if you sent it in a couple days late. Good luck". All I can say is PHEW, it really had me worried lol. Gl to everyone else!

Anyone else receive good news? It's been 8 days since the last interview invite on SDN.

Has anyone been rejected post secondary application yet?
My file still says application complete...

for those that got interviews, how long after you submitted your secondary did you get an interview?

If you scroll up (or maybe to the pervious page, idk, I'm on my phone) there were two of us who were complete on 8/8 and got interview emails on the 13th. My status on the portal changed on the 10th though.

FWIW: When you submit the secondary does not matter in terms of II date, its the complete date that matters, as you could submit w/o LORs and they're likely not going to review your app till all of those are in.

Hope that helps.

Thanks man, I would be really happy if I got an II here considering how they only interview like 500 people out of 7500 apps. I submitted my secondary last night, and my lors are in. Hopefully, I hear some good news from them in the coming days. This school is one of my top choices.

In state applicant with 1 year honors research, biology and chemistry major, 3.7 science, 3.3 non science, 31L, was anatomy & physiology lab TA for 1 year and certified tutor for 2 years, and as of now shadowed pulmonologist, anesthesiologist, orthopedic surgeon, family doctor, gastroenterologist, (shadowing hours total ~12 hours because of privacy issues, etc.) worked in pharmaceutical testing lab for 2 years, volunteered at emergency department 1 year (200 hours total), volunteered at homeless shelter 2 months (10 hours total). what do you think my chances are? I have not yet submitted my primary application..working on personal statement. Assuming I get a secondary, what are my chances of interview, and if i do well at interview what are my chances of being accepted. How do I compare to other applicants?

There is a whole "what are my chances" forum this might fit in better

I can't tell you how you would stack up against this years applicants, but I can tell you how you look against this year's MS1 class.
Despite being a private school, Wake really seems to like kids who are either from instate, or went to school at one of the big 4 NC schools (Duke, UNC, Wake, and Davidson). They also want to see that you are at least familiar with the triad area. The science parts of your applications would make you a very competitive canidate for admission to WFU, provided you are able to demonstrate a strong interest in the school. (Wake has one of the lowest acceptances/matriculation rates). The weak points of your application are a lack of leadership activities, and lack of any significant volunteer experience. Heres the deal, if you really want to go to wake, and they send you a secondary, and you sit around for a while, write them a letter expressing your intrest in Wake. If your not really interested in wake, don't feign interest in a letter. If you do this, they will probably interview you. If you interview like a normal person, they will probably admit you eventually, provided you can demonstrate a significant interest in the school (I wrote them a 2 page letter of intent, and they loved it).
Best of luck to you

I got the "call to schedule" status change this morning!

For those that have already scheduled, what days of the week does WF do interviews?

Sounded like everyday when I called them to sched. I know Fridays for sure cause that's when mine is haha.

What does the hold status say, if you don't mind?

what percentage of the people who receive secondaries will get interviews on average? does anyone know?

thanks

I think someone said that they recieve around 7000 aps.
around 2000 get secondaries
then around 500 get interviews.

and according to USNWR, they have a good interview/acceptance rate as well like 50 percent.

Hope that helped.

Your application is complete. Interviews are by invitation from September to March.* If you are invited, you will receive a e-mail or phone call to schedule an interview.

While I have heard that this means a hold, I have also read from other threads that it means you have been put in an interview pool. I think the numbers were something like 1000 in the top interview pool for 550 interview spots.

This is by no means a traditional "hold" status as in, "you've been reviewed, we only kinda like you, and are going to see if anything better comes along before reviewing your app again."

I got this status and 2 days later got an interview invite. So no one freak out if you get this status because it literally means what it says - your app is complete. In reality it probably just means all your stuff, including LORs, have been received and now we are going to take a look at it.

Everyone who doesn't immediately get an II after their app has been reviewed automatically gets the "application complete" status. WF hasn't rejected anyone post-secondary so there's no telling from this status whether they kind of like you (in which case you're near the top of the list for an II) or don't like you at all (in which case you're near the bottom of the list for an II which is essentially a silent rejection).

Where have you heard these numbers from? That seems like a pretty rigid secondary pre-screen.

Just got a 'call to schedule interview' email. I checked this morning, but no status change so the turn around between status change and email must have been really quick.

Also, it took me four weeks to turn in my secondary for any one nervous about being late!

OOS, 3.4 cGPA/35Q, complete 8/20.

Would those of you who got interviews mind posting where you went to undergrad? From what I've heard they favor students with some connection to the area, so I'm just curious if that trend has held up so far.

I went to NC State. Wake Forest does seem to favor in-state applicants a bit. For the fall of 2008, Wake accepted about 3.5% out of state applicants and about 10% of in state applicants.

Received the "application is complete" email today. I feel like I am very behind in this game.

Just got an application is complete email and now my status says "All materials necessary to evaluate your application have been received.* Your file is currently under review.* Please allow 1-2 weeks for this review."

1-2 weeks is pretty short IMO, hope I get an interview 🙂

Status now says "Your application is complete. Interviews are by invitation from September to March.* If you are invited, you will receive a e-mail or phone call to schedule an interview."

is this a hold status?

Interview Invite Today!

It isnt the traditional hold status since some people seem to have come off this status in 2-3 days.

Well the problem is that wake forest has like a giant hold pool and people are in different tiers. So like some people in the uppermost tier receive quick II where as others do not.

I am pretty sure I was rejected pre-secondary because I have the dreaded "notification by e-mail" status. However, my status has been the same for the past 2 weeks yet, I have not received the rejection email. Should I call?

I've had that "if you are invited for an interview..." status for a month. Doesn't make me feel very good.

Are people referring to their status as an email received? I don't see anywhere on the application site a "current status" section.

Also, did we come to a consensus for this status:
"Your application will be reviewed throughout the year and if granted an interview, we will send you an invitation by email. Interview is by invitation from September through March. If you have not heard by April, you will receive notification of your status at that time."

This sounds pretty strikingly like a hold to me.

In another email, not the one containing the link to your secondary, there is a link to a "check my status" page

Others have said there are tiers of hold, but everyone gets that status. So you could be invited for an interview soon if you have that status, or you could be rejected at the end of the season with that status. So there seems to be no way to tell. Some people from last year said you could all the admissions and feel it out for where you stood, but I would have no idea how to go about that.

FWIW, I got that status and was invited for an interview 2 days later, so you never know.

Are you referring to the email stating that "All materials needed for your application have been received and your file is now complete."? My email contained no link to a status page and after contacting in office of admissions (just now) the lady was befuddled why I never received that link. Hopefully they can send me my link and that this hasn't happened to too many others!

No. I think he is referring to the one that had the link to your secondary in it.
