Well SDN it's been fun, but with no acceptances, 2 waitlists, and no more interviews on the horizon I don't think we'll be seeing much more of each other.

How is the interview weighted in relation to GPA/MCAT/EC's? It's strange hearing that people who interview early are getting UC'ed and even rejected. I'm assuming you all have LizzyM's in the mid 70's range and decent EC's. It would certainly be nice to know what the formula and bar are for acceptance. I figure I'd throw this one out there in hopes a current student might have heard something.

Mine took around 2/3 weeks to complete, so more than a month is a little worrisome but I think a few days is not necessarily the norm. But yeah maybe email 😛

Well, at least now you've got Buffalo to think about 😉. I haven't worried too much about my hold here, since it really sounds like a LOT of people get in off of hold. I personally just hope we hear something back by Februaryish, since it could really mess with my plans if it takes too much longer than that. To DO, or not to DO... that is the question.

Edit: oh, sorry! I didn't realize this was a pre-interview hold. Regardless, Albany seems to interview pretty late and will churn through tons of applicants as the season continues and people start turning down interviews with mounting frequency... so don't give up yet!

Really? I heard back on 11/19 regarding my 10/16 interview. It was a "UC" status, though, so maybe they're just still deciding whether to flat out admit you or put you under consideration? 😵 Maybe that's worth calling about.

For those "Under Consideration", I asked AMC about the timeline for hearing final decisions. The following was their response.

"It is always a possibility that an applicant, who is in the Under Consideration category, will hear from us prior to June. Decisions about placement on the alternate list will be made in early June, however, the class will not be finalized until right before matriculation in early August."

So, it sounds like we can possibly hear back at any time. The "alternate list" will be finalized in June, and final decisions are made by August.

When can medical schools see other acceptances for their applicants--sometime in March, right? I wonder if they'll let more hold/waitlist folks in that don't have other acceptances? It benefits them to have a better accept/matriculate ratio, no?

I think it's more like March 15th? The other acceptances you do or do not have can factor into the scholarship money schools offer you.

Also, medical schools can only see the other schools an applicant has been accepted by if they have accepted the applicant themselves. So if you are on hold or waitlisted by a school, they cannot see your acceptances.
