2013-2014 Central Michigan University Application Thread

Ok, cool thanks for the reply! And those decisions are made at the end of the interviews?
If I understand your question, yes. I believe any waitlist/hold movement is decided after the interview season!

Edit: Actually, to clarify, the director of admissions told me: "...we won’t know what type of movement we will have in our waitlist and hold pools until after [May 15]".

Ugh, they make us wait that long? Thank you for all the info!!!

Does anyone know when the deposit is due for accepted students and how much it is?

Haha, that is not fair! Completely unrelated, but my MSU-COM acceptance fee (non-refundable) is $1,050... They sure don't make it too easy to apply both MD and DO.

MD schools can't ask for more than 100$ until may 15 it's AMCAS rules haha DO schools have no such rule. I was accepted at a DO school and the depost was 1250 which I was gonna pay next week.. Thankfully I got my acceptance here first!!

Haha, yeah, the regulatory differences make cross-applying difficult/expensive.

Regardless, congratulations again on your acceptance. 🙂 I was very pleasantly surprised by CMU!

Same. I also got a DO acceptance and deposit was 1000 thats why I was wondering. Excited for CMU and this is most likely where I will matriculate 🙂

Dear Lord,

I can't believe that after following so many threads the past two years and hearing 'Accepted! Got the call yesterday!', I finally get to say it myself.

So here it goes: Accepted! I got the call yesterday around 3:30pm! Man, this feels great. I'm IS. Low 3~ gpa, High MCAT >30, lots of ECs/Community Service. Complete around 08/04 and Interviewed 11/15.

If this isn't your time, keep working hard folks. It took me a while to get here.

Positive vibes to you all.

I was told it's due within two weeks. And it's most likely between 50-100$ but I'm not sure
I emailed them to ask about a deposit and they said there wasn't one. Hopefully I didn't miss a deadline to pay...

My bad there might not be! They can ask for up to 100 bucks but there doesn't need to be one I don't think.

Did anyone accepted yesterday get a portal change or email yet? They told me it'd be sometime today after they notified everyone but I don't have one yet.

I have not received an email or had portal change yet either.. and no deposit would be awesome!!!

Got the email and change in portal.. no deposit due yet 🙂

Congratulations to all of those who were recently accepted!!

There is no deposit at this time - I spoke with Admissions on the phone.

Rejected last week pre interview. Complete early sept, OOS. Good luck to those still in the running!

Sorry for responding to your PM so late my friend. Congratulations 🙂

I was accepted on November 26 with ~3.6 GPA and ~30 MCAT, but quite a bit of extracurricular experience, and recently accepted the offer. Congratulations to all of my future classmates and to everyone else, never give up, because if you stay determined, you will ultimately achieve your goal!

Hey guys,
It'd be nice to communicate and see who's all in our class for this upcoming year. I made a facebook group so join when you can: https://www.facebook.com/groups/212874958892093/

Search 'CMU College of Medicine Class of 2018' if the link doesn't work for you.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

The director of admissions has a private group made already. I was accepted October 15th and received an email a few days later from CMED with a link to the group.

Thanks for letting me know. Going to delete this one and will look forward to that email.

Interviewed on 11/8, accepted on 11/27.
IS 3.35, 34Q. It was great news to be thankful for the day before thanksgiving!

Anyone who was accepted from November interviews get their packet yet? The fb page says they sent it over the holidays but I haven't received it!

I have not received anything yet either, but I interviewed in late November so I am not sure if that makes a difference.

I was complete at the end of August at CMU but have not heard anything since. Is anyone else in a similar position? Has CMU started sending out rejections?

Me. I'm OOS tho.

For those accepted, how much money do you have to deposit to hold your seat?

Any idea if CMED will be giving out scholarships? I've read that schools often do that for their first few classes to entice students but I don't know if that's necessarily true in this case.

I would think of the IS tuition as being a scholarship enough... considering WMed and Oaklands' typical private-school prices 😉.

Really, I have no idea. I haven't been following too much since being put "on hold" post-interview. :dead:

They do offer scholarships, as listed on the website. The director of financial aid mentioned at my interview date that they will email accepted students when the scholarship applications become available (presumably not til May-ish).

Does anyone know if wait list decisions could happen sooner than May 15th? I was wait listed and wish I didn't have to wait until May to hear the final decision >.<

Does anybody know how to update your application if you have been placed on hold?

Well, that's unfortunate. Can I ask where you heard that from?
The admissions director. This is the exact quote from an e-mail: "With regards to application updates, you are certainly welcome to send us updates, we ask that you wait until after May 15th to provide these to us, as we won’t know what type of movement we will have in our waitlist and hold pools until after this date."

Hope that's helpful!

Hey everyone. I'm interviewing here in a few weeks but I haven't had a Multi Mini Interview set-up yet. Just wanted to get an idea from those who interviewed if the interview here is like what I've heard of other MMIs that its very scenario based and not much planning and talking about yourself occurs on interview day. Appreciate the help.

If you are rejected pre-interview, does a rejection status come up in the application portal?
