2013-2014 University of Alabama Application Thread

Does anyone know if there is an extra question in the secondary for reapplicants?

I wonder why it's taking so long for my file to be marked complete.... hmmmm

"Please share any information you want us to know about you that is not included in your AMCAS application or in this secondary application."

Is that question optional? I've heard of people leaving additional info questions blank, but I'm not sure that's the best approach. Although, I have run out of things to talk about on this app since it is rather thorough.. ideas?!

i left it blank but I'm OOS with no II yet so take it for whats it's worth. My status is "remain under consideration for interview" so i haven't been rejected because of it.

I've been in the "secondary in process" status for a reaaaaally long time now. Did y'all stay under that for a while?

I was under that for like a week or so before it switched to complete and under review. How long has it been?

Almost 2 weeks.. So I guess not as long as I thought hahaha. I forgot I had been waiting for my last letter. So hopefully it'll change soon!

So how long after AMCAS primary verification did everyone recieve their secondary apps from UAB? I'm a late applicant and was just verified today.

So I'm an internet fail and can't find the link to the website where we check our status...help! Thanks 🙂

Recieved secondary from UAB this morning, ecstatic despite the fact that they send them almost indiscriminantly. Hoping to knock it out by Monday

I am OOS and have been under review since 9/18. Anybody have a similar situation?

Ahhhh when were you complete? IS/OOS/stats?

I'm nervous, I feel like I should be hearing back soon!

I just got complete this Monday, but submitted my secondary on 9/3. I was waiting on a committee letter for over a month to complete my application.
IS MCAT: 30 (10,10,10) GPA: 4.0

Does anyone know if your chances of getting in after an interview are pretty good?
I had my interview 2 weeks ago so hopefully thats a good sign!

Last year (2013 matriculation), for in state people, 200 accepted/270 interviewed.

Does anyone know of any OOS applicants that have been invited to interview? It seems that only IS applicants have been interviewed this far (just from looking at this thread), but I was wondering if anyone had any insight?

When I interviewed, the interview group was < 50% IS. Emory, Vanderbilt and Duke were all very well represented and together outnumbered UAB + UA + Auburn. Though these May have been IS students who went OOS for undergrad and are now coming back...

You're considered instate if you went to highschool in Alabama, not college.

I am oos and received an II. It's scheduled for 10/24.

I'm not sure when I was complete. I submitted my secondary on 9/4 and received II on 10/11.

awesome! congrats! I think that's when I submitted mine. I was put under review then to remain under consideration for an interview.

That must mean that out of state students may now be getting IIs.

Im OOS and just went to "remains under consideration for interview" yesterday to find an interview invitation today:
submitted 9/14 complete 9/20something

Hope to meet some of you on the interview and good luck to everyone who is still waiting !!

Congrats! That's exciting.

Did you get an email saying you got the interview or did you login in and bam! It's there.

Congrats man!

They emailed me. Told me to go log in and pick one of two date options.

Well they sent an e-mail which they ask you to respond to and then you choose one of the given dates from a link on the secondary page after you've logged in. Hopefully that sheds some light.

I am waiting for my secondary. Would someone post it for me so I can have it ready to send? I would really appreciate it. Is there a diversity essay? Is there an extra question for re-apps?

It's already in the thread. Earlier on.

Has anyone that interviewed regular decision (OOS) been accepted yet?

Congratulations! Me too. Got the email around 4:30 today. (In state regular decision)

Congratulations to everyone accepted and with II. I'm IS here and have an interview scheduled for 11/14. To anyone that had an interview here, was there anything about the process that threw you a curveball, or was it all pretty straightforward? No one asked you what sort of animal you would be or anything like that?

Largely very standard, straightforward, and transparent. Did get asked, “Talk about a time you didn't get all the credit you deserved for a project," and similar. Hard to answer that. Just cough up a bland answer and don't look like a douche is what I was going for.

Largely non intimidating experience. You'll be fine.

That's a solid strategy. I would love to completely wow and amaze the interviewers, but a more attainable goal is don't screw it up and try not to suck... so we're gonna go with that. Thanks for the info.
