Does anyone know of anybody that has been accepted recently? I'm curious as to whether there will be another string of acceptances or if the next email update is going be the alternate list/ rejections.

To my understanding, when final decisions are made, there will be some acceptances to fill the seats left, waitlist, and rejections given.

After looking at the previous threads, I believe we will most likely hear this friday.

There are more spots remaining. I interviewed in the last (snow-delayed) group on Thursday, and the woman speaking with us said they had been waiting to make any more acceptance decisions until the last group came through. She made it sound as if they would send out acceptances and waitlist notifications quite soon.

For any of those with status changes today, have any of you received emails?

Nope, no email. Just a status change! Can somebody link me to the fb group? I can't find it!

My guess, at this point, is that we will get wait list next Thursday, and nothing more until then.

Honestly, just being hopeful that they don't keep us in the dark much longer

Well, I still have hope for hearing more information tomorrow. However, it appears that they removed the 4/15 deadline for final notification from their website and have replaced it with an apology about them being a "month or more behind" in the admission process, under the current applicant page on their website. Also I have one question. Where any reapplicants accepted today?

I interviewed March 6, and I am a first time, non-traditional applicant.

I just checked it and it still says by April 15 on the final committee decisions stage?

I stand corrected, the 4/15 is on the "committee decisions" page under final committee decisions. Great observation Lionking2014!

Yep. I think we're looking at next week at the earliest!

Thanks for your input. I definitely see you are saying but I suppose I should have phrased my question better. As a college student, people always tell me that there is no such thing as a typical day, but as a person of routine, I have developed different routines for the different "typical" days that I have. Along those same lines I was wondering what your day consisted of on a) days with just 8-12 lectures, b) days with 8-12 lectures + afternoon sessions, c) lab days, etc. and of course d) weekends.

Ex:
630-730am: wake up/get ready/breakfast
730-800am: commute
800-1200pm: lecture
12-1: gym
1-2: lunch
2-6pm: study
etc. until 11pm: sleep.

Hi - I'm another 1st year with mclysek. I think you'll likely be able to tailor your schedule to whatever works for you (within reason). Next year you won't have required attendance for lecture which will likely add significant flexibility. I typically stay at school from 8-6 every day no matter what we have going on and I study when we're not in class or lab. I'd guess on typical modules you have extra stuff (histo, micro, gross, small groups, simulation etc) maybe 2-3 times per week.

With that being said I think you'll be pretty able to strike up a schedule that works for you that is pretty consistent across most days.

The Fundamentals modules (1st semester) are a little heavier with extra-lecture stuff, if I remember correctly. It may be a little more difficult during those modules.

One last thing quickly - it is a pretty remarkable amount of info you need to learn for each exam / module. It takes a while to get used to it but I think it does get easier.

Good luck to you all.

I agree, it is variable depending on the person. I typically am at UAB from 8-12; however, that includes working our, eating, etc. Also, I do research with a few people, and I am an officer in one of our organizations, so that takes up a lot of time. It really depends on you. I have to study at school, while others can study at home. Also, your social live will decline, that is just reality. I cannot give you a minute by minute schedule of how we lead our lives on various weeks, because thats not reality. Every person is different. I personally will be happy with no attendance, but they will fill up extra time with more small groups and things like that. Different modules require different commitments, as do test weeks. It is a huge adjustment, but hundreds of thousands of people before you have done it, so honestly there is no need to stress. My biggest advice to anyone accepted is to not study this summer, but to analyze your life and eliminate as much unnecessary stress as possible. I mean things as little as worrying about where you will eat everyday can add stress on top of what you are already dealing with. Eliminating as much of this as you can helps. Also, remember that we all go through "studying paranoia" where we think we must ALWAYS study; however, you will realize that the ROI on that is very minimal with diminishing returns coming quickly.

So are we waiting for the alt list at this point gang ???

Well typically they also send out another handful of rejections and acceptances with the wait list but I'm not sure if that's still the case this late.

Lets hope for the acceptances... Yall think maybe Friday we will kno some ??? siiggghhhh

Anybody has suggestions on where to live? safe & affordable place?

Also, not sure if this has been asked before but can first years survive without a car?
