Hi guys,

First off congrats to all those accepted. I would love to go to davis.

I have been complete since 10/04. My mcat is low (29), IS, and I'm holding my breath for an invite as well.

This is so close to home for me, I just keep praying that I get that invite
 
I've been complete since late August, and still not a word. However, I called the admissions office a few weeks ago, and they mentioned that if no II by December then that's usually a rejection.

do you mind sharing if they meant from an august completion date or just in general?

like, can a person complete in sept think of that as january for them? or just december in general?

also, december early or anytime in december?

sorry for all the questions, i've tried to call ucd a few times, and have never been able to get someone live. nor through email 🙁
 
I know you can send the messages through the web portal too. Maybe you can try that!

I interviewed 10/18 and still have not heard a response. Has anyone from this interview date received a decision recently, either good or bad? I'm hoping the delay doesn't automatically mean bad.

I'm not sure actually. When I talked to the admissions office, they just told me based on complete date that if I didn't hear by December, then I wouldn't be getting an interview. I think UCD does silent rejections unfortunately.
 
A friend of mine received her II in Feb and had her interview in March and still got in. It is a very random and unpredictable process!

I sent them a message like two weeks ago and there is still no response...and I know that they read the message, the portal marked it as read...I think that they do not respond to questions about were is my application at this point. ?
 
Did anyone else get several emails about the Open House for the ACE-PC Program?

If you don't mind, what did you ask? If it is important then try again. I had to call several times over the course of a few days before I got someone on the phone. The admissions office is really nice (&busy)!
 
I interviewed 11/1 too! I remember being told it would only take 2 weeks but I haven't heard anything yet... D:
 
II today! Complete 11/8/13 - amazed they got back to me so quickly. Super stoked as this is my first invite. IS, 32 MCAT, 3.6 GPA. They allow you to view available dates by month, but apparently it's updated fairly regularly. Right now the only date I can see is 2/28/14 but I will likely check back for when they make other dates available. Congratulations! I'm so envious. I completed back on 10/30/2013 and its been silent since then. Looks like I'm out of the running.

I asked them what the statues of my application was since I had been completed for a long time and had not heard anything.

Do you mind if I ask what you were calling them about? Was it about your application statues? and if so did they give an answer.

I was complete the same day with similar stats! Hopefully that doesn't mean they passed over me and just like making me sweat until Monday!

Thanks! If it makes you feel better, there have been people with complete dates after me for five other schools I applied to, and I don't think I'm out of the running yet - no reason to feel down until the rejection e-mail comes. I understand this whole process is pretty arbitrary, and it could be that the person who happened to review my application is getting through their files faster. Stay strong and good luck! It's a brutal waiting game, but we go through it because we're genuine about our aspirations. 🙂

Some who submitted before me got interviews before me, but eventually mine came ; ) Keep your hopes up!!
 
does uc davis accept status inquiries via telephone? i've been complete since july 29th, with no news good or bad.... silent rejection? 🙁
 
Has anyone who are placed on "hold for interview" receive an II lately?
 
I sent them an email asking about my app status and all I know is that they indeed read it but thats it lol, I guess theyre too busy to answer. Do schools like Davis have a date where they must reject you or at least put you on hold? Or is it possible to have my app as complete and never get a response until later in the cycle?

I am sorry to say this, but I think if you haven't heard back (either II or hold for II) from Davis for more than 2 or months after submission, it's unlikely to get an II. This is because I have been told about Davis's selection process by someone on the admissions, and it's pretty tough I gotta say. Last year, people received rejections in Jan. I believe.

I hope thats not the case, but if it indeed it is then a school like Davis doesn't have the decency to just reject ppl who are in my position rather than give them false hope by making them wait. Im gonna call them tomorrow and ask them.

Thanks guys! Its getting tough to be honest, I really don't know what is it that schools don't like about my app. I have looked through it extensively the past few days and I just don't see it.

Really? Yuck!

Would you feel comfortable sharing what you know that makes you say that?

I agree with above, quite unfair to string us along if that is the case!

I've heard the same thing from friends who have been accepted last year. I applied this year and have been complete since mid-August. In October, I called the admissions office and they explicitly told me that if you don't hear anything by December, then it is very unlikely to get an interview.

I'm not a fan of their silent rejections, but if you are able to speak to the admissions office, I think they will be honest with you.
 
Is there anything we can do to show Davis that we are very interested in attending the school? 🙁
I know UCD doesn't accept update letters and they seem to not want status inquiries via telephone...
What more can an applicant do? Or is it already too late....

So does that mean that we should expect a bunch of rejections very soon? Or in December? I would like to know if I am actually being considered... but fear the rejection letter.

I don't know about the rejection part, but I just called and she said the same thing in that they were trying to get all decisions out by december. I then asked her what my chances were, she didn't seem sure when answering but she said and I quote "No news is good news?" almost as if it was a question. I am not holding my breath for this because chances are its rejection. I don't see why it would take so long I realize there are a lot of applicants but another whole month just to get a rejection letter?

Lol agreed.

If they know they want to reject us why not just send out the mass email now?

Perhaps that means they are goign to rereview each app just to be sure they don't want it. But that's probably just me giving us all false hope lol .

quick update I called again and asked how far along theyve filled their interview dates and they told me they are filling up the January dates right now, and that there is still february and march, so there might be some hope although slim. good luck all.
