Got an interview invite! Hoping that more dates open up though. Right now it looks like August 9th is the only option and I have a conflict that day...

I think you should try calling to change dates. If you are able to interview on a different day, then I guess that means another Aug 9 spot will be opened up 😉

Thanks! I finished the app on 6/30, but it took a while for them to get my letters for whatever reason. The letters were marked as received on 7/15, so I assume that's the true completion date.

Verified yesterday afternoon, received my secondary today. 😀 Long shot, keeping my fingers crossed for some love for a former Aggie ^_^

Since other people are asking about the "concerning parts of their application" question..

My cGPA dropped from 3.87 to 3.79 in 2 quarters (C+, lots of Bs) and I have a lower MCAT to match (28) due to reasons that I've managed to take care of of since my Spring quarter. Worth discussing, or no?

Guess I'm more overthinking the "don't draw attention to your weaknesses if you can' help it" mentality.

You can talk about your GPA drop if you present it in such a way as to not seem like you are just making excuses. If you have bounced back from that too that would be worth discussing. The MCAT you shouldn't discuss unless you have retaking it and did better. Otherwise, it will just look like you are making excuses. For this essay, I wrote about my horrendous first attempt at the MCAT (way lower than yours) and spent the majority of the essay writing about how I changed my study method to get the MCAT that I currently have.

The trend was basically 3.11 Fall, 3.4 Winter, 3.8 Spring, so I got back on track at the final stretch 😀

Absolutely! I take full responsibility for the mistakes I made that led to why my grades dropped - my professors both quarters were actually solid, fantastic, etc. Just a lot of personal things happened between November-February, so I wasn't completely focused on school until I finally resolved everything. A side effect of it was that I only had 3 weeks to study for my MCAT though; hence why I asked about whether or not I should explain the score too 😛

I got verified yesterday in the morning (8/2) and received an email today (8/3 at 2am) saying my app was still being looked at before they send a secondary....

Do you guys think I got screened out??

My friend got the same email but he also got a separate email (at the same time) with the secondary invite..

It's possible but I wouldn't count yourself out until a week or two has passed. No sense in stressing out about it over the weekend. Good luck

I really like Davis, especially their PRIME program...

It would be a miracle if I get a secondary (I had a 6 in verbal but 11 and 10 on the other too sections, GPA 3.94)

Or is your interview status emailed to you?

I was complete on 7/11 and LOR's were marked received on 7/15. but no update since then. ;/

I got an email saying that I was "on hold" so I imagine that everything is done over email for this school.

I was complete in very early July. Also you can check the "messages" section on the secondary where they should tell you what your status is. There is a message that explains my interview wait-list screening hold status.

In the messages section does it say your complete? On my home page I have green check marks across the board. But in the messages section the latest update shown is the invite for filling out the secondary .

I also have green checkmarks there too. I have a green check mark next to the "Supplemental Application Completed" which was on 07/01/2013. In the message center I have three messages, "Application update" "Application Received" and "Screening Hold." To answer your question...there is no message in the messages section that said that I was "complete."

No just the three that led you to medicine. One of my most meaningful experiences on my amcas did not lead me to a career in medicine so I used something else on the secondary. Two the same, one different.

I'm going to say no. You have excellent stats, and while this is only a fraction of your application - you'll be fine, whether its at UCD or another school. This process is less linear than many SDNers make it out to be and there is randomness, chance, and waiting involved. Deep breath 😳

Last year screening hold meant that they were going to use you near the end of the cycle as last minute replacements for people withdrawing their interviews. I think they only invited people who lived near the school. I was put on screening hold and then invited to interview with one day's notice and then waitlisted and then accepted!
