319-335-8052 After you get a hold of them could you please post what number they are on?
I sent a withdrawal email May 5 and never got confirmation, so I was trying to reach someone in Admissions to follow up. I just signed on to the secondary website and saw that there was a form for me to submit. So maybe the OOS over acceptance number just dropped to 7? However, I suspect they had already seen my email and were considering me an OOS withdrawal already. Best of luck to everyone waiting!

I called Friday and they said that they are no longer overaccepted and they are taking people from the waitlist. On my online portal, the waitlist has moved 2 spots.

Do you think its concerning that it only moved 2 spots, taking into consideration that we are now past May15th?

Well concerning for them perhaps since it means they possibly cut it close with the number they overaccepted. But I'm sure they know what they're doing, but I am a little surprised.

It's also moved 2 positions for me. I imagine it will continue to move slowly over the next month and beyond but no drastic changes. Oh well. More waiting.

You could call admissions and ask what they think of the movement this year compared to previous years and whether this is normal. I asked the lady I spoke to in admissions and she said it seemed normal to her but it would be interesting to get more feedback from admissions especially since I called last week. It seems really slow to me though 😛

So I called admissions to ask this question, and she said she couldn't tell if the movement was slow. Unfortunately, I couldn't elicit a more detailed response.

I agree, it seems very slow. Looking back at the old feeds it seemed like people were getting pulled off the waitlist (originally #15+) by May 17th...

You're right. It's definitely moving slower this year. Only 2 people off the waitlist at this point is crazy! I hope it keeps moving :xf:

Super odd. Maybe they decided to overaccept a lot more this cycle? Idk. Or there is just something off about this cycle.

Actually this year they over accepted by two less than last year, so it would have been worse if they hadn't decreased the number.

Wow really? Well maybe we are getting worried prematurely... There is still hope for a big push

Accepted off the IS waitlist today (started at 23). There is still hope! Good luck to everybody else still waiting!

I just called Carver and the lady in admissions told me that the only way the OOS waitlist will move at this point is if the 2 people who were recently offered acceptances decline. Even though I'm really high on the waitlist, I feel like my odds of getting into Carver are basically 0 at this point. It's hard to believe that the OOS waitlist only moved 2 spots this year 🙁

Well this really sucks...

Well, this is very disappointing. Looks like this is the end of movement for this year.

The more I think about it I think it is also possible for waitlisters to get acceptances if accepted students take a seat in another school if they get off of a waitlist. I just don't know how often this happens...

Yeah I thought about that too.. I doubt that could account for a big push, maybe 2-3?

Yeah, I feel like it would only be a few spots. Sometimes accepted students also choose to defer their acceptance for a year so that could help it move but again I doubt that's very many people. Also, the waitlist could move internally like it has in the past. I'm just very confused right now. I wish admissions would just tell me if I have a chance or not!

How does that work? Do they do it over the phone?
I hope they do it over the phone. From previous threads, they will give you pointers about how to improve your application for the next cycle. What I don't know is if they will do it this early. But if the waitlist isn't moving, I figure it won't hurt to ask.

Jeez. well I had already resigned myself to not getting into UofI, but I really hope this isn't indicative of the waitlist everywhere!!! :scared:

Moved up two spots OOS list. Hopefully not from ppl ahead withdrawing. Anyone get accepted? But my take is that waitlist movement sucks for UI and a couple other schools this year. Good luck everyone.
