Got my hopes up when i saw someone posted. Anyone hear back for tc?

I interviewed 9/6, called today to ask about the status of my app and she said my file had been reviewed and I should hear back within the next few weeks. Kind of a buzzkill, I was really hoping to hear something today. I didn't ask when they would start calling people, but as I remember from last year's thread they called in the early evening (4-5 PM), so maybe some people will be getting calls later today.

Just got accepted to the Twin Cities, interviewed late August on the third or fourth interview day. Im going to be a doctor!

got into TC! so excited, this is my number 1 so far, out of the seven interviews I've had to date.

Congrats to everyone who received an acceptance!

I'm interviewing at TC on Nov 11th. Do you guys know if there is a way to request a host? Anyone book one of the hotels they recommend and know the price?

Got the acceptance call about an hour ago! Interviewed 9/6, IS.

Congratulations to everyone that has been accepted so far!!!

On a separate note, does anyone know the timeline for releasing more acceptances (e.g., will they be released weekly, as they are reviewed by the AdCom, or some other way)?

I would take a look at last year's thread to see how it's done, but I think the adcom made phone calls once a week on a certain day.

Accepted to Duluth this morning at 11:30! Great to know that I will become a medical doctor. It will probably take a couple weeks for me to hear back from the TC though, but congrats to all of you who were accepted.

Feeling so grateful right now, super excited for next year!!!

Accepted to Duluth at 10:00AM PST.
Interviewed: 9/19
Very happy

Did you interview with me on 9/19 at Duluth?

I received an acceptance call today (IS, interviewed 9/16), but I suppose they're just working through the backlog of acceptances since they've been interviewing for over a month.

Woohoo! Just got the call from Dean Patel! After 3 years and 2 application cycles I'm going to be attending medical school next year!

Congrats to everyone else that has heard good news, here and elsewhere. For those still waiting, good luck!!!

[Edit] For those that are curious: I interviewed on 9/16, IS.

Just got into Duluth yesterday, interviewed 9/16. Anyone looking for roommates? 🙂 I'm going to have 2 open spots at my place starting next summer, right near Fitgers and downtown on the bus line.

That's SO excellent! I'm really happy for you. I got rejected one cycle and I thought that was bad enough. MAJOR congratulations! You deserve it! 🙂

Thanks, Rik1111! I'm sorry to hear that you've been waitlisted at the U. 🙁 Hopefully you get an acceptance from them before they come out with the ranked list. I did see that you've gotten at least one acceptance on the boards elsewhere. Congratulations!!!

congrats to everyone getting in! I have a question. So I got the Duluth secondary but I'm trying to debate if it's worth it to fill it out. I'm OOS and not american indian. I do want to work with rural medicine though but they only accept 60 people.

also I still haven't gotten my TC secondary. anyone know how long it takes before they send one out? thanks!

Duluth does not only accept 60 people. 60 people MATRICULATE, so its possible that 100 or so are accepted. If you have a genuine interest in practicing rural medicine, id say go for it. I got my TC secondary approximately 4 days after i was verified. I got the duluth secondary the day i submitted my primary application (late june). Not sure how things have changed since.

Has anyone who has been accepted so far received the letter of acceptance in the mail? I am still waiting for mine.

Yea it took about 5 business days for my letter to come after I got a call.

So, after being AMCAS complete for almost a month now, I've finally received an invite to Minnesota's secondary application (hah!). On one hand, it seems like the delay means I've passed some sort of heavy pre-screening. But, on the other, I'm really hesitant to apply, given how late it is in the application season.

Does anybody think it'd be worth a shot for me to send in a secondary this late? My stats are OOS (which I know they weigh heavily), 3.97 GPA, and 33 MCAT. I also have 2.5 years of research (no pubs) and some serious volunteer hours.

I haven't received any paper mail yet, but tonight I received an email with the acceptance information. Including the weekend, it took about five days from the phone call acceptance to the email acceptance.

Paid and signed up for class of 2018! So excited to become a Minnesotan, I'm kind of hoping i don't get in other places because I'd hate to go elsewhere for a better deal.

You'll love it here! Pm me if you want any info about housing and the area!

Does anyone know if Duluth is behind in app reviewing? I submitted my secondary 8/29 and have heard nothing since. I'm IS. Are they pretty friendly about calls for a status check?

The campus only interviews 2 people at a time. maybe this is reason for no contact? It took them 1.5 months to get back to me with an interview. Susan at the front desk is very nice and would probably kindly give you any information she could. If you are interviewing at TC you should definitely send an in the area email though. The two campus' definitely communicate with each other. they actually called me with an interview when they saw I was interviewing at TC.

Rejected today! 3.65, 37 MCAT, OOS. No love for the neighboring state, I guess! Best of luck to everyone, the Twin Cities campus is amazing!

how long after the interview invite do you get a confirmation? I got the invite on wed 10/23 and I replied that same day but I still haven't heard from them? Kinda getting worried that the invite was sent by mistake because I just submitted my secondary two weeks ago...:scared:

I've been verified since 9/24 and have already chosen the TC site for application. I have yet to receive the secondary. Does UMN take a long time to go from verification to secondary or should I assume this is pre-secondary rejection?

This happened to me too, my confirmation email just got lost somewhere along the way. if you don't get one shortly just give the office a call and explain that you didnt get an email, Lola is super helpful.

Rejected from Minnesota. First real post complete rejection and it's from my alma mater. Stings quite a bit.

I was rejected this week too, sorry to hear Minnesota was your alma mater, that's rough.

Does anyone know when we can expect the next round of acceptances to be sent out?
Thanks.

Just got the nicest note from one of my interviewers congratulating me on my acceptance. Crazy how he remembered details from way back in August. Makes me love the U even more!

Good luck to those doing secondaries. Take your time and make sure what you write really represents who you are.

Hi All,

I am appling to the U of M for the second time. I interviewed last year, waited over 2 months, and was rejected in March. The admissions committee suggested that I retake my MCAT. Given everything that I had to do in a year, my application was sent a bit late. I finished my secondary a week ago and am expecting to wait a bit to hear about interviews.

I think one thing I want to get across with the U is that they care a lot about community service, work experience, etc. I had a 3.65 GPA and a 28 MCAT (not stellar numbers at all, I have since increased my MCAT) and was given an interview. I have been working in urban community health centers since I was 14. I'm pretty sure that is what got me the interview last year.

Was this at TC or Duluth?

TC. IS. I boosted my MCAT to a 30, which is still not that great, but I have had some pretty great work/volunteer/speaking experiences this year. Lets hope it works out.

I have your exact stats and have an interview at Duluth. Also IS. Now I'm nervous about my score :/. Good luck to you this round!!

Thanks! You too! I would apply to Duluth, but given that my medical point of view is through an urban, community-centered lens, I just don't think they will be interested. haha

Just got rejected from Duluth but still waiting on TC. IS. GPA 3.71. MCAT 33. I submitted my primary late (08/24/13) due to unforeseen circumstances and started receiving secondaries a few weeks ago. If I submitted my secondary for TC on 10/13/13, how long could it be till I get a rejection or interview?

I had a friend who applied around the same time last year with similar stats. He did not get invited to an interview until the end of January and was wait-listed and currently reapplying. I am not positive on this, but I have heard that the holiday season and influx of later applications and really slow the process down. Good luck.

wow. very good stats and rejected pre-interview? damn. You have the same GPA as me and +1 higher on mcat and im OOS (but percentage American Indian if that means anything). Duluth must take into account many other factors, I do not believe that your rejection was due to your stats. I didn't realize how competitive the Duluth campus is. However, I think if you end up gettin an ii at TC that you should still call/email the duluth campus and tell them you are in the area. They are VERY accommodating to ITA requests. Also, I submitted my TC secondary on 8/6 and received an ii on 8/27 for an interview on 9/20, I received a call on 8/27 from Duluth saying they want to interview a day before (they knew i had received an ii at TC). Accepted into Duluth 10/16 still have yet to hear from TC. Dont let the rejection bring you down. Iv been rejected/put on hold at almost ALL my safety schools, but have gotten ii's from my 'stretch' schools. My life has been a roller-coaster these past few months! The app process is a crap shoot. Good luck with everything. Hope all goes well.
