Does anyone know what the out-of-state interview:acceptance ratio is?

Couldn't find anything on MSAR.

Also, interviewing here tomorrow. Very excited and loving that LA weather 🙂
Per USNWR most recent stats:

Out of State:

Applied: 3626
Interviewed: 235
Accepted: 128
Enrolled: 48

Do you have the in-state info for this school? Much appreciated.

only admissions knows the answer to that. all we know is you haven't been rejected, so just relax, sit tight, wait. etc etc

I received an email with the following subject line: "Keck School of Medicine: Supplemental Application Complete‏" the same day I submitted my secondary. Is this what you are referring to?

rejected this morning. urm 3.55 and 28 mcat. I'm not a citizen or permanent resident tho. Lived in CA since I was 5 and hold DACA status, but I think most schools still view me as international. 🙁

hi guys,

just got secondary today and i looked through it. Can someone elaborate this question for me please?

What aspect of the preparation for becoming a physician did you find most challenging?

Do they mean to ask our premedical journey to medical school application stage or they mean to ask in general from premedical journey to getting MD license and practice medicine as a physician🙂?

Thank you very much, guys.

I am sorry to hear that, buddy. I am also a resident and i just received their secondary today.

I am pretty sure that you will get accepted somewhere. CHEERSSSS

I am sorry to hear that buddy, I am wishing you the best and pretty sure that you will get accepted at other schools. CHEERRRRRRRSSSSS 😍

It's phrased in past tense, not as a subjunctive/conditional, so just address challenges to date.

Hi there, thanks a lot. 🙂

Did you contact schools and ask how they would consider your application with DACA status? I think you're going to have a very difficult time and your best bet is going to be making human contact to discuss your predicament -- otherwise it's really easy to look at the check box for "not a US citizen" and lump you in with an applicant from anywhere else. That said, you pose all the concerns that foreign applicants do, so it may not make a difference to any school. (I presume there is no special DACA box on AMCAS these days).

Have you had any interviews?

Can't remember what they said on the interview. Will they be releasing decisions on the 15th or will it be a bit later?

Getting nervous about this school. Starting to feel as if my essays were maybe too short to get a picture of myself as well as the fact that USC has booked interviews into next year. Hope Keck shows me some love.

She said the earliest they release decisions is on the 15th. She said it could take up to 5 or 6 weeks to get a decision, though they usually get them out within four weeks of the interview. From what I gathered from other students that are there, typical turnaround to a decision seems to be 2 to 4 weeks (unless you interviewed way early in September, though I don't know if USC interviewed that early). Just relax until then.

Hello guys,

I need your help to clarify this question for me please.

One of the questions on the secondary asked

Have you indicated that you represent a group that is Underrepresented in Medicine? If yes, what does this designation mean to you? Please answer the question in 250 words or less.

Does this question mean that if your race/ethnic is Black/Mexican/Native- American and Puerto Ricans then you check yes right? It does not consider if you are economically/socially challenged right?

Underrepresented group is not the same thing as URM. There is much more than race that factors into being considered "underrepresented".

The questions is simple, if you consider yourself as representing an underrepresented group, than answer the question. Economic status/sexual preference/etc. may also qualify...

First school to get back to me after secondaries, and it was an interview invitation! Can't wait. Instate, 3.84, 35

When's your interview scheduled for?

wow. congrats, that is super freakin quick

+1 do you remember when she said to expect to hear back?
really hoping they release decisions tomorrow! do you remember how many interview sessions there were before 9/20? hopefully we should be in the first round of decisions!

Anyone know what's a good place to stay that's not expensive but not in a sketchy area?

No idea! I know there was an option for 9/18 when I was selecting my interview date but I don't know if/how many interview groups were asked before us. Soo anxious :scared:

i'm pretty sure we were the first round of invites, so it looks like 9/18 was the very first day. i guess it's only a matter of when their first day of decisions is scheduled to be. last year it seemed to be the 16th, but i'm reading on the msar that it is the 15th this year. who knows, this whole process is mysterious.

Try the student host program. If you'd prefer to stay in a hotel, there are numerous options in downtown LA (closest). Other options (further, but likely cheaper): South Pasadena / Pasadena, Alhambra, Los Feliz, Glendale.

Did u interview on 9/20 with us? Morning or afternoon session?

Accepted!!! Top choice out of the schools I've been offered an Interview!!!!

+1 placed on the alternate list. Very bummed, loved the school and thought my interview went great.

I will most likely be matriculating here assuming i don't receive some miraculous crazy scholarship somewhere else. It has always been a dream school. LAC-hospital is such an amazing place to learn and be trained. + great school, students and staff seem pleasant, great reputation, BIG ON SPORTS!, and only an hour from home (I have a huge family and we are all very close, they are all in fact posting on facebook about my acceptance here haha it was everyones desire for me to stay in so cal.)
So excited! 🙂🙂🙂🙂

Alternate list... KNEW I should have sent that thank you note!

All jokes aside, I'm pretty bummed.

You'll be pulled off very quickly, we need an awesome c/0 2018 group =)

I just realized that on my secondary i answered "yes" instead of "no" to the question "have you ever applied to medical schools?"...and I wrote in the text box, "no, this is my first time applying" 🙁
