Okay. Wonder if the majority of movement is now or what? I hope not.
I think there is still some movement. I for example probably won't be going to UTH. So that's at least one more acceptance that will go out.

Are you holding an acceptance at another Texas school? Because I'm a bit confused as to how long one can do that.

Yes. Since I am out of state I can hold until May 15. I think the rules are a little different for Texas residents.

Of course take as long as necessary to be certain of your decision, but I'm sure people would be very appreciative of you dropping any unwanted acceptances as soon as possible. Best of luck where ever you end up!

Question- this might have been asked already but I was wondering if it is at all possible to get a semblance of a financial aid award package for instate students. How would the package look typically if your EFC is approximately 0?I've talked to some people and they've said that they don't release anything really until late June/ July. Is it really that late?

Hello all! I know our acceptance is contingent on finishing all course requirements and obtaining our degree, but are there any official GPA requirements (other than not failing classes)? Thanks!

Most waitlist movement happens towards the end of April and in May. Last year I got off the waitlist at UTH on May 9. Here's more info about multiple acceptances from TMDSAS:

"Applicants may hold offers from one of the TMDSAS medical schools as well as other non-TMDSAS schools such as Baylor College of Medicine. By May 15 of the matriculation year (April 15 for schools whose first day of class is on or before July 30), each applicant who has received an offer of acceptance from more than one school must choose the specific school at which the applicant prefers to enroll and withdraw his or her application from all other schools from which acceptance offers have been received.

After June 1, no medical school in Texas may offer a position to an applicant already accepted by another medical school in Texas. This is the result of an agreement between the four UT System Medical schools, Baylor College of Medicine, Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine, Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine, and University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth College of Osteopathic Medicine."

Does anyone know approximately how many students get off the waitlist each year?

Also looking for more insight into this.....

I'm fairly certain that as long as you don't fail anything, you should be fine. If it's a class required for your degree but not necessarily required by UTH, get a grade high enough for your school to accept it and let u graduate. If it's a required course for med school, get at least a C.

Anyone received any financial aid information yet? I'm OOS, accepted back in March. I filled out the FAFSA and UTH's scholarship form immediately after my acceptance, but haven't heard back anything. Looks like last year some people heard back mid-April...anyone know if we're on the same timeframe for this year?

I'm IS, accepted during the match. I received a scholarship notification on April 10th. I still haven't heard anything regarding financial aid though.

I was accepted through the match as well, IS. Applied for scholarships, but haven't received any. I guess they've given out all the scholarships already.

As far as financial aid goes, i've heard that doesn't go out until late July, or early August.

I just withdrew my acceptance at UT Houston this morning. Good luck to everyone on the waitlist!

Accepted today, a great problem to have but now I have to choose between UTMB and UTH.

I'm sure you have your own list of pros and cons but the reasons why I personally would choose Houston revolve around the opportunities at the Texas medical center. The two notable rotation locations at UTMB are the burns hospital and the criminal psychiatric facility, while the TMC has a wide variety of options to choose from. No doubt UTMB is an excellent school but I think it's location gives a slight disadvantage in comparison to UTH. Just my two cents! Hope you make a reasoned decision and good luck to you. And congrats on your acceptance! 🙂

we filled a class size of 240 this year out of around 4000 applicants.

Actual stats are not out yet, but last year's entering class of 2012 IS interviewees had a 43% acceptance rate at UTH

By comparison, IS applicants that interviewed at A&M and UTSW had acceptance rates of 77% and 37%, respectively.

Historically at UTH (MSAR stats from the last few years):

3500-4000 apply
900-1000 are interviewed
400-500 are offered seats
200-240 matriculate

Generally, 9.5-10% are filled with OOS applicants - for whom they have a much tighter interview-acceptance cycle; they are rolling right from the start (so if you get an interview your chances are much greater that you will be offered a seat)

I'm VERY interested to know how you got the information on the number of seats offered for each medical school! I have been searching for a long time but I didn't find it. Please share. Thank you!!

Sorry if this was addressed before, I didn't have time to shift through 9 pages of replies, but do you get a call from an unknown number then an email? I have a slew of missed unknown callers from mid-september 2015 and now I'm worried. I didn't think they'd be unknown and I've had bad past experiences with those numbers before.

I never got a call. Only email.
