2014-2015 Drexel University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Hey, on hold here and wondering if this is one of the schools where a letter of interest/update mid-cycle is (unofficially) required. I know a lot of schools don't want to interview people who have been accepted somewhere else and are no longer interested, and am trying to come up with a nice way to say 'I'm still available, and I still want you!"

Sorry to hear about the holds everyone. Hopefully some movement on the hold list is on its way!

Edit: It appears the portal is down for me so I can't see if I got put on hold. No email yet.

Ninja edit: Back up. On hold. Ohhhhh well

has anyone who has denied the waitlist position actually mailed back the forms/documents saying that yu are declining?

I was complete November 10th, and thank you so much!

November 10th???? Did they skip all the September and October people? This must mean I have a silent rejection at this point... Do they not review apps in order of completion date? (questions not necessarily directed at you, just whoever may know. And congrats by the way.)

It could be because I'm in state? Just throwing it out there!

Did you get an email or was it on the portal? Would mind saying when you were complete?

I got the letter in the mail which I waited about two weeks for from the time a decision was reached (nothing on the portal or an email) and I interviewed on October 23rd.

Does anyone happen to know how much the student interview is weighed vs the faculty interview?

The student interview, while it tends to be more conversational, is treated equally importantly as the faculty interview - to my knowledge anyway, that was what the student interviewers were told at the info session.

It happens, but it's not terribly common. An update/LOI in January may be a good idea if you intend to be one of those people.
While logical advice, Drexel doesn't accept update letters for those of us on pre-interview hold.

It's not like they're going to send it back. While asking about the status of your application, it doesn't hurt to say that there have also been additions.
I disagree with this advice. I think that if a school makes it clear that they don't want updates, then I wouldn't send one because it shows that you can't follow directions. They may not "send it back" because it isn't physical mail, but they won't add it to your file for consideration.

In their auto-reply e-mail they even state that updates will only be considered for interviewed applicants.

Fair enough.

I 2nd this opinion. I would NOT send an update until you got an interview. Which is frustrating when you have great updates (I am in the same boat!). If they would just let me know they want an interview I can show them how hard I have been working! -sigh-

Does this apply to all pre-interview updates? Someone earlier said it was for those on pre-interview hold.

Also, are we thinking that everyone is (rightfully) celebrating the holidays now? Guess on more movement is first week of Jan right?

Just checked the portal to see that I've been placed on hold til spring as well. . . Anyone know if Drexel even does pre-interview rejections? or do they just put everyone on hold?

Congrats Caroline!!!!

I received the "decision has been made" message on December 17th and still have not received the letter yet. Anyone else waiting around the same amount of time? Wednesday will be 3 weeks.
