2014-2015 Drexel University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Did you ever get the mail?

Sorry, I've been off SDN the last few weeks after finding out I hadn't gotten in 🙁 I got the mail on about October 27, after having my status updated on October 15, after interviewing on Sept 30 (lumping this all together to be helpful, but I doubt it's an exact science beyond conjecture). Good luck to everyone applying!

I had my interview here yesterday and just wanted to mention something I noticed: besides myself, there was only one other person who was still in college. Everyone else in my group was a non-trad. I just thought this was interesting.

I do have to admit though, that I did feel comfortable with my group, and that we were able to maintain a friendly atmosphere, which may have colored my experience yesterday. For my first interview, it wasn't bad.

Though I could have done without that essay first thing in the morning...

Yup just got the decision reached today, interviewed on 9/30. Fingers crossed..

For those who have interviewed/attend: What is the easiest way to get to campus in terms of transportation? I just received an interview invitation and am wondering if it's easy to navigate from the airport or train station as I'm coming from up north (~6 hour drive)

Congrats! By email or did you find out on the portal?

Thanks! I found out by email. I'm assuming it was probably posted on the portal beforehand, but I stopped compulsively checking it for some reason.

I ended up taking a cab. I'm sure there's a cheaper way with public transportation, but I am notorious for getting lost in new cities and just didn't want to risk it.

Does anyone happen to know when any wait list movement typically begins? I have heard that it can happen at any time, as is the case with some schools, but I have also heard March and afterwards is the norm at Drexel? Do any of you current students know what the trend is?

Also congrats to those of you who were accepted!!!

Waitlist movement largely begins in June, actually. There may be a few before that, but they generally go to the waitlist after everyone's applications have been considered once.

Where are you staying? There is a train at the airport that is two stops to 30th Station, our major train station where Amtrak goes to. It is easy to get to campus from there, the Chestnut Hill West line stops at Queen Lane, just one block from school. Cabs can be expensive, and you will need to give them time if you are not in CC to get to you. Feel free to PM me. Feel free to PM me.

Anyone else wait more than 10 days for the letter to arrive? My portal updated early last week, and im approaching 14 days soon...

So does "decision" mean acceptance and "final decision" mean rejection?

Been with the committee for two weeks now 🙁

Got a "reached a decision" status update today. Hope it means what we think it means!

May I ask where you stayed?

May I ask where you stayed?

I stayed at the Radisson Blu Warwick in center city. It's pretty far from the school and I think it's really expensive too. I only stayed there because I had a free night.

To the people who have been accepted or interviewed do you mind sharing your stats? I'm just trying to see if I have a shot here. Anyone get in with MCAT scores in the mid 20s lol

For some reason, they sent me the secondary SUPER late, so does anyone mind telling me what the turnaround time for a II is (or if there's even any point in hoping for one)? My app was released early August, but I didn't get a secondary from them - despite persistent prodding - until the end of October.

i was complete 9/24, and got an ii through email 11/14 (i dont know if it updated on the portal sooner than that) but in the complete email they said dont expect anything for three months so i was surprised to hear from them sooner

Just had my status updated to has reached a decision. For the people who was accepted what does your status say?

What's the turnaround time after you get the "currently being reviewed by adcom member and will be sent to committee shortly" status?

i still have that and i interviewed in the end of september. i think it just depends and that there is no exact way to answer this.

3 weeks. I sat 2 weeks with under review by admission committee

"The Admissions Committee has reached a decision on your application. A letter will be mailed to your preferred address. " Interviewed 10/22 with adcom 10/23 ... two weeks ago with committee .. Decision made 11/19 omg so nervous.. now for the mail oh my lord its on to the next waiting game. 🤔

Ahh thank you! Yeah I interviewed mid October and just got that status change 2 days ago so we'll see. Appreciate it!

That is the only status update available this year. They aren't doing final decision vs decision like last year. A "reached a decision" can mean accept, reject, waitlist. I was accepted with that status.

No one has been rejected yet ... I wonder if they just are not saying?
