Complete since the end of July, still marked as secondary completed, IS silent reject?

I've had "secondary app completed" since the beginning of July. I understand people have gone to "secondary app reviewed" or "review completed" and they've submitted in August.

So, I'm really not sure what to make of this. Either they're checking out the highest stat/most attractive applicants first and have me on HOLD or just a silent reject.

I hope its the former. 🙁

I know people who submitted after both of us and already had their interview. Hopefully it is the former! Maybe we'll get a chance later 🙂
 
They are not interviewing people with the highest stats first for sure, I interviewed there September 26th and I have a 28 MCAT. We were told during the interview that they choose people that are a match to their mission, which is basically being interested in primary care.

My app went to "Preliminary Review Completed" just 4 days after I submitted (submitted 10/3, preliminary review complete 10/7). That happen for anyone else? Did you get an II?
 
Did everyone get the email about art initiative art show/auction earlier today?
 
Finally changed to Preliminary review completed. I had been stuck at Secondary application complete since beginning of July. Hope this is a good sign.
 
Any cheap lodging options that people have done for this interview?
 
Hi all, I have a question - my status online says "Admissions Committee Review Completed". I interviewed on the 22nd of Sept. Is it likely I'll hear back on the 15th, then?

I'm not sure you will. Those of us on the week of September 22 to September 26 will probably not hear from FIU until the end of October early November

Your status means they have made a decision, which means you could probably hear back on the 15th.

Did those of you that have interviewed have the "preliminary review complete" status prior to interview?
 
got that interview invite today. 3.8, 34, out of state. was complete mad late (like mid September)
 
The admissions office has room for luggage on interview day correct?

Accepted! Interviewed 9/22. Congrats to everyone who got in today, and good luck to everyone else! Haven't received the follow-up email though, Julipanda.
 
Got an email today saying that I was put on the alternate list. Interviewed 9/22!

For those of you who were accepted over the phone, were you also emailed an acceptance notification?
 
I'm *still* on Secondary Completed and I'm beginning to become very anxious. Would it be super obnoxious to send a friendly email to admissions re-iterating my interest in the program? I don't want to just fall through the cracks :/
 
complete 7/26 and status is still secondary app completed...
 
Steven, I received the phone call an a welcome email but I have not yet received an email about the acceptance.

You got an email? I haven't gotten any information about my acceptance. How do you put a deposit in?

Also, MSAR says deposit is not refundable

it's one of the aamc traffic rules that deposits be refundable, although idk how binding those are

7. Each school's acceptance deposit not exceed $100 and (except for EDP applicants) be refundable until May 15, April 30 for M.D.-Ph.D. applicants. If the applicant enrolls at the school, the school is encouraged to credit the deposit toward tuition.

I think the option to reserve a seat on the portal with a $100 nonrefundable deposit was an accident because when I went back to pay it the "reserve your seat" button changed to "offer of acceptance". When I accepted the offer I got a message that I would receive information about the deposit to reserve my seat in the next few weeks.
 
Would it be crazy to call and confirm this?

I have an interview coming up and I never got an email confirmation or a schedule of where and when to meet. Do they send this out later? I left a voice message and sent an email to admissions, but neither have gotten back to me yet. Does anybody know where I am supposed to go?

I believe this email was sent out a bit closer to the date. FIU is very good about getting back to students so don't worry. In any case, I did my undergrad at FIU, so if you have any questions at all, feel free to PM!
