Congratulations! Top choice?

And the only thing you need to do is receive the official acceptance letter, sign the form that says you accept a seat in the class of 2019, and mail it back within 2 weeks! They do NOT require a deposit. You only need to sign the form and mail it in.

Also, filing FAFSA is always good.

Top choice out of interviews I have received so far (Oakland, Wayne, and Western). I had such a positive experience during my interview day and would have been really upset if I had not been accepted. I am actually canceling my western interview to give the spot to someone else for next week because there is no way I would go over there over Loyola.

Good to hear!

Well, Loyola is a very, very strong school compared to many US MDs anyways. Good reputation, good history.

For those of you that have been invited to an interview and/or accepted, do you mind sharing a summary of your application for the rest of us (sGPA, cGPA, MCAT, extracurriculars, etc.)?
Thanks!:nailbiting:

The portal says my application has been reviewed and then says that the review process will continue throughout the interview season into April. So I am guessing this is an on-hold notice? I was complete late September

+1 exactly the same situation

Hopefully they will review your application again before April!! I have been complete since early August and I am still "under review", which makes me think they lost my application somewhere in the giant stack.

Did you both just get this status? Or have you had it for a while? I believe that's the hold status, from previous posts on this thread.

Thanks I hope so too. Did you try sending an update? You can send up to three. I sent one a couple of weeks ago and then my status changed just this week.

Send an update a couple of weeks ago. Just got that status this week when I checked the portal, but it could have changed sometime last week and I just didn't check it.

So if you've been complete since early August, what does it mean if I still have the "under review" message as opposed to "has been reviewed?"

I sent a fairly long update during the last week of October. That might have delayed the axe a little longer, but 4 months seems like an awfully long time to be under review. Regardless, I plan to send additional updates if new developments arise this year. Perhaps you could continue to send updates as well to get them to re-review your file?

Don't give up then!! I am sure they will look at your application again soon. And thanks, I think I will do that. I am in my gap year before medical school currently so I guess I will try to send the next two updates within the coming months. Good luck!

+1 to four months under review, sent in two updates spaced two months apart. Delayed agony or ecstasy?

What does a hold status mean?

It means they like you enough to not yet reject you, but they do not, at the moment, wish to extend you an interview invite. They put you in a pile of applicants that they will continue to look at throughout the cycle, with the possibility of extending an interview invite later.

Anyone else interviewing 12/4? I am really excited to visit Loyola!

+2 to the "under review" for months and months... sending an update soon. Love Loyola!

Has anyone accepted 11/24 gotten their packet in the mail? Thanks.

Has anyone who interviewed Oct. 21 received a rejection/wait list via e-mail? My grandmother was hospitalized / passed away the weeks before thanksgiving and I am wondering if maybe I received the call but did not have service at the time. I have not received any e-mails from Loyola so I am hoping this is a positive thing for me. Anyone that was accepted receive the acceptance packet in the mail?

BTW congrats to all of you who have been accepted this past month.

NVM, just received the alternate list status via postal mail.

same I also got put on the alternate list. Do we really have to wait until may to find out if we are accepted or rejected?

For those who were accepted, was the number that called just the admissions office phone number? Not sure if you can give out the actual number, but maybe someone could post the area code just as a heads up tip?

I remember being told the only notice of acceptance was going to be a physical letter...didn't realize Loyola also called accepted applicants.

ditto... wondering what this means

This is how I understand this:

Schools have lots of applicants, with many being qualified but in a 'grey area'. Schools want to get the most out of their applicant pool so they review these applicants while waiting for other applications to see where the grey area candidates stand. Once the secondary deadline closes, schools review the remaining apps and can rank the applicants. I think that the last big of movement is a result of that.

I honestly think many of us will see more movement closer to the deadline or soon after. This includes rejections.

IMHO, once you get into feb (i.e. 1+month after secondary deadline) in places, the new II's that come out are due to people that are withdrawing acceptances and interviews and a school is trying to make its numbers. Those are the last minute hail mary things for the schools. Yes they still want you, but the circumstances are far different than they were in aug/sept. I think these are still very viable interviews, as people get in off these spots.

Still under review... for four months.

Hang in there! I got an interview invite from Loyola a few days ago after being complete and under review for 3.5 months. For what it's worth, I sent in a quick update about my work/volunteer activities for the fall at the beginning of December. I got the II a week later. Don't know if the two things are related, but it can't hurt, if you haven't already tried submitting update(s) to them. The admissions office seems really nice.

I sent a non-personalized update letter to all schools on nov 20th with updates on research activities and such.

That definitely makes sense but why not just put us on hold? Why have two separate hold groups- one actual hold group and one grey area group? Plus wouldn't an interview invite into feb or march = an interview for the wait list essentially?

I guess the only thing to do is submit and update and hope for the best.

Not on hold because they're probably still looking at the apps in relation to others that are coming in. The ones on hold are probably ranked and not being reviewed.

It depends entirely on how the schools handle this and I'm doing this based on conjecture. I think it depends on when the school rejects, if at all. I also think, again unfounded, that a hold early in the cycle is different than one later in the cycle. I question the likelihood of those with a late hold getting a II.

FWIW, I'm not holding my breath for loyola. I'm not sure they're interested in me at all given that my recent work experience and lack of recent volunteer experience.

They go through the main call system so I think the number is different outgoing than incoming. Nonetheless, it's a 708 area code.

Yay sloppy seconds lolololol.
