When I scheduled my interview about a week ago

couldn't resist 😉

sadly I think the vast majority of us sitting without II from NYU at this point are out of luck

I saw only December dates when I scheduled mine. But there might still be openings left, good luck everyone!

does anyone know how nyu reacts to pre-II update letters? getting kinda desperate..... =/

How about this:

Dear NYU admissions committee:

My outstanding application has clearly been misplaced. Please retrieve it and inform me of my interview date. I am standing by.

Sincerely,

pinkPEACE

Might work....

Given NYU's short interview cycle and the fact that it's practically November, I'm almost losing all hope. Oh well, it is what it is.

I received an interview invite about one week after sending in an update. Make of that what you will.

that's awesome to hear! did you send it via e-mail or did you just upload via the extra documentation tab on the secondary?

What would warrant an update letter? I mean all I could say is I'm doing what I said I would do in my plans for this year... I was complete Mid Sept.

Edit: I could say the PI of the lab I am working in at another medical school in NYC (Top 20 also) has made some room in his budget and set up a job position for me. Right now, I am an unpaid research assistant if you will. Only problem is HR has yet to approve the job and I don't know when they will approve it. I believe my job responsibilities will increase. Also, for our research we are collaborating with some other researchers at NYU Medical Center. And, I believe my PI is going to submit an abstract to an upcoming major conference. I'm thinking of waiting two weeks before sending a "Hail Mary" update letter.

I read somewhere about 18 students interview per MMI session/day. I know you interviewed at NYU so can you confirm this? Thanks.

I think there were 16 students at my day, but it was their first interview day so they might have changed that number 🙂

Yup it was 16 people yesterday..mine had 13 guys and only 3 girls

Hmm. Assuming there are 2 weeks of interviews left or roughly ~6 days. I forgot what days they interview. That would be about 96 potential interview spots left. *faints* lol

Well I figured it was about exact questions/scenarios but if that's not the case then whoops

about the whole day
Didn't know that about NYU's MMI. It seemed that other schools that I've interviewed have less restrictive non disclosure clause.

Really? Every other school I've been to (2 others) have had a similar non-disclosure agreement, and some extend it towards not sharing anything about the day (since technically patient confidentiality is also a potential issue if the tour includes clinical areas)
EDIT: My bad, I misunderstood your confusion. The non-disclosure doesn't apply for the whole day, just for the MMI scenarios.

Oh no I'm sorry!!! I didn't mean to make anyone disclose anything (I don't think anyone did). I didn't know there was a non-disclosure about the whole day, thanks for the heads up
It's not a non-disclosure about the whole day. I can tell you at length about the structure of the day, what we ate, how the staff was, the tour, what the tour guides told us etc. I just can't tell you anything about the specific stations other than the information you can find online at NYU's website.

Mine (3 so far) mostly just stated you cannot disclose anything related to the content of MMI, and I (think) didn't see it would be a problem to tell someone that there will be a tour, a lunch and such. Those scheduling things were already released by the schools to the public, such as Michigan and Stanford, in then format of press release or in their info sessions open to all applicants--Michigan publish their day schedules and Stanford have a video describing their MMIs. Most schools don't have hospital tours that you can see patients so there aren't anything related to HIPAA violation, Michigan did have a HIPAA training in advance because the tour called for such. I didn't see what kind of info was released here before it were removed, so not sure what part of the MMI was talked about.
Anyhow, gonna be even more careful from now in case my understanding wasn't correct.

Sorry, to clarify again, I misunderstood the original point you were raising. NYU's non-disclosure agreement (as I remember it) applied only towards the MMI scenarios. We can definitely talk about the presentations there, the lunch, the tour, what the students said to us etc, as long as it doesn't give away anything regarding the MMI prompt.

Ahhh, yes. Then it sounds like what I had now.

Oh okay thank you, sorry for causing all that confusion!

Did any interviewees do the tertiary? Is it helpful for grabbing a last-minute interview spot?

I did not. As far as I am aware, it has no bearing whatsoever with whether or not they decide to grant you an interview.

So, after going through the IIs from this thread, I noticed most IIs are given out on Tuesdays and sometimes Monday or Thursday. I really hope NYU sends one my way this week.

Hoping we both get one of the remaining interview spots!!!

Finally got to click that withdraw button. Would have loved to interview here, but I don't think my love was bound to be reciprocated. I still love you, NYU!

Hope you guys snag some of their final interview slots! :luck:

So sad 🙁 but very thoughtful of you all the same!!

Does anyone know for sure whether NYU is true pass/fail pre-clinical? I heard conflicting reports on my interview day.

Yes they are P/F preclinical. The only thing "conflicting" which really isn't is that for AOA they have some kind of point system in place for tests. But for residency transcripts they only report a "P" or "F"

Thanks for clearing that up!

How should I write an ITA email? Do I upload it onto my application or email it directly to adcom?
Also, should I mention I'm interviewing at another NY school or just say I am ITA?

II this morning! complete early August. pretty much all dates in December were open. good luck to all 🙂

also, do people know if NYU is rolling? or do they pretty much release acceptances all at the same time, once interviews finish in december?

Congrats! Mind sharing stats?

Also, do you know what days of the week they interview?

I believe they release acceptances as well as rejections at once in January.
